A large 19th century Russian silver mirror maker's mark rubbed, assay master Alexander Mitin or Moor, St Petersburg circa 1847, stamped 84 zolotnik The frame of waisted cartouche form, the lobed body chased and applied with rococo scrolling flowers, foliage and shells, the apex centred by a crest within a rococo shell, the whole upon two scroll feet, a wooden reverse with hinged support strut, width 58cm, height 79cm. Footnotes: Provenance Sold at Christies London, September 1992, Lot 491. The armorial has so far been unidentified, however it appears to be Russian nobility.
