A Rare 1822 Pattern British Officer's Sword Of The Spanish Auxiliary Legion, Reign Of Queen Isabella II (1833-1868) Retailed By Moore & Co., Late Bicknell & Moore, No. 1 Old Bond St., London, Circa 1835 With bright slightly curved pipe-back blade (areas of old pitting) double-edged at the spear point, the forte etched over each side with foliage involving the crowned cypher of Isabella II on one side and the crowned arms of Spain on the other, regulation ormolu hilt incorporating the crowned arms of Spain on an oval, folding inner-guard, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip (fishskin incomplete), in original brown leather scabbard (some wear, seam open) with linear engraved ormolu mounts, and two rings for suspension, the locket with maker's details on an escutcheon on one side (some wear to gilding overall) 82.3 cm. blade Footnotes: The British Auxiliary Legion, also known as the British or Westminster Legion, served in Spain between 1835 and 1837 in support of Queen Isabella II during the First Carlist War For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
