A 16-Bore Percussion D.B. Sporting Gun By Joseph Manton, Hanover Square, London, No. 8665 For 1821 Rebuilt from tubelock, with rebrowned twist sighted barrels signed in capitals along the rib, case-hardened breeches each with pierced platinum plug and engraved with foliage between, border engraved tang decorated with symmetrical foliate scrollwork, border engraved flat locks each engraved 'JOSEPH MANTON PATENT' and decorated with foliate scrollwork, dolphin hammers en suite, highly figured half-stock with chequered grip, border engraved steel mounts comprising butt-plate (old rust patination) retaining some blueing and decorated with a martial trophy and foliage along the heel tang, serial numbered trigger-guard decorated en suite on the border engraved bow, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, rear ramrod-pipe finial en suite, vacant silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and brass-mounted ramrod, London proof mark and Charles Lancaster's barrelsmith's mark 73.5 cm. barrels Footnotes: Previously unrecorded For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
