A French 1896 Model Cavalry Officer's Sword Commemorating The French Intervention In Mexico (1861-1867) Dated 1912 With bright tapering blade fullered along the back over nearly its entire length on both sides, one side etched 'PROMOTION D'OAJACA . 1864-1866' between foliate scrolls and against a matted ground, and on the other 'A . DELEUZE' en suite, the forte on one side etched 'H. FAURE LE PAGE & FILS 8. R. Richelieu, PARIS' above three stamped circular inspector's marks, the back of the blade etched with Chatellerault manufactory details dated 1912, brass hilt comprising guard pierced and chased with branches of laurel, and wire-bound horn grip, in original steel scabbard (old pitting) with ring for suspension 95.3 cm. blade Footnotes: The second French intervention in Mexico, also known as the Second Franco-Mexican War (1861-1876) was a military invasion of Mexico by Napoleon III.
