Milhouse of London: with brass keys, crook mouthpiece and fittings, stamped twice to the butt 'W.MILHOUSE LONDON' and also to the centre and upper sections 'W.MILHOUSE LONDON 337 OXFORD STREET', overall length 123.5cm.* Condition: Appears to be complete and all parts probably original. Good patina to the pearwood and does not appear to have been overcleaned or restored - it has been consigned from a private vendor. Small marks, dings and bruises to the wood throughout commensurate with the age and careful ownership - no splits, chips or repairs. It has clearly been maintained as there are renwed, 20th century pads beneath the keys. The various parts have red waxed cotton around the joints.

Sigismond Neukomm, thirty-six pages (16 stave manuscript paper), 8vo, London, 7th February 1832. The working full-score manuscript is for Neukomm's complete work Septet ('Fantaisie concertante') in E flat, scored for trumpet, horn, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and double bass, penned in brown ink on up to two eight-stave systems per page, with an autograph title page in French, autograph foliation ('1' - '36') and with some instructions in English ('….exactly in time, not ritard…') and a number of erasures and autograph corrections. Dated at the conclusion and again signed by Neukomm with his monogram ('SN') Bound with string in the original dark brown wrappers. Some light age wear and a few minor stains to the inside pages, the paper wrappers with some minor creases and a few small tears, about VGAutograph musical manuscripts of Neukomm very seldom appear at auction, the great majority of his manuscripts now being housed in the Bibliotheque nationale in Paris. Septet was written for the Royal Philharmonic Society in 1832.
