1966 Raleigh Runabout Registration Number: HUO 39D Frame Number: 3R1418 Raleigh, Britain's best known and longest surviving bicycle manufacture, also made motorcycles from 1905 into the 1930s. More recently , the Nottingham company offered a range of mopeds, plus a scooter in the late 1950/1960s. The majority of the moped range were built under licence Motobecane Mobylettes. The first of the latter was the RM4 Automatic, produced in 1961, while Raleigh first applied the Runabout name to the RM6 which was built in various versions from May 1963 until February 1971, when production of Raleigh mopeds ceased. This machine is completely original and unrestored, largely assisted no doubt by spending over 40 years on display in a butcher's shop window, of all places. With a drop of fresh fuel, the engine sprung into life and we understand runs nicely. The bike is sold on a bill of sale with a copy of older tax discs, but without V5C.

1976 Mobylette Motobecane, 49cc. Registration number KFU 136P. Frame number 05526620. Engine number 2185999. This machine is basically a own lady owner, she bought it from our vendor in 1976 and only rode it some 249 before parking it up. On her passing he bought it back from the family and recommissioned it out of nostalgia, but has no use for it. Highly original it comes with a V5C and has been ridden around our compound.

1960 Motobecane Mobylette AV32, 49cc. Registration number 692 UYP (non transferrable). Frame number 2813426. Engine number R185625. Sold with the V5C, Cyclemotor dating certificate, copies of workshop manuals. French manufacturer Motobécane was established in the 1920s and post WWII it began manufacture of a super lightweight Poney Vélomoteur of 63cc. It soon became apparent that 50cc pedal-assisted motors would be the way forward. Utilising a sleeved-down version of the Poney motor to 50cc, called a Mobylette, the new AV3 Moped was first produced in 1949. Other models fitted with the same AV3 engine appeared in 1952: AV31 ‘Luxe’ to 1955, with telescopic forks, front and rear drum brakes, and ‘automatic’ clutch. AV32 ‘Utilitaire’ & ‘Service’ to 1962, basic models with rigid fork, front & rear calliper brakes, and direct drive and AV33 ‘Super-Standard’ to 1960, rigid fork, calliper front brake & drum rear, and ‘automatic’ clutch. UYP was imported from France in 2016 and restored being painted Triumph green. Sold with the V5C, Cyclemotor dating certificate, copies of workshop manuals.

R189572The Raleigh Bicycle Company was established in the 1880s, and grew to be a major global manufacturing company, making bicycles, motorcycles, cars, and many other things. A major presence and employer in its home town of Nottingham, it eventually grew to be the world's largest manufacturer of bicycles. They naturally adopted motorcycle manufacturing, in common with many other bicycle makers, and, after World War Two, as the market grew, they turned to producing mopeds, eventually switching to the Motobecane engine. The Ultramatic model joined the range in 1965, featuring a fully automatic, infinitely variable transmission with automatic clutch. MDC 438G was acquired by the owner some years ago. Whilst the bike has not been used since that time, it has been kept in good, dry storage, but it will require re-commissioning or restoration to some degree. CDC 251C (see text)Frame no. 42190668Engine no. 4940983The French maker Motobecane produced motorcycles from 1923 onward, and by the 1930s were offering a range of machines which at different times ranged from small to large capacities. Shortly before World War Two, they had concentrated on smaller-engined machines, and post-war they focused on the emerging moped market, correctly reading the trend for cheap, accessible transport. The Mobylette range of machines came into existence around 1950, and joined the multiple British makers of autocycles and mopeds. CDC 2451C was acquired by the owner some years ago. Whilst the bike has not been used since that time, it has been kept in good, dry storage. The engine turns, but it will require re-commissioning or restoration to some degree. RAY 355RFrame no. 89163702Engine no. 2197728The Mobylette was manufactured by the French firm Motobecane, the world’s largest manufacturers of mopeds at the time with production figures of over half a million units a year.This bike has been in current ownership since 2013 and appears to be in unrestored, original condition although not complete as per photographs; the engine turns over using the pedals. Engine number 4256193.This example was first registered with DVLA in 2015, it is one of the French built models.Velosolex produced cyclemotors from 1946 to 1988 in Europe, production began in both China and Hungary in 1988, but ceased in Hungary in 2002. French production resumed in 2005 and is a replica of the historic model, but includes modern components which suit both European and North American requirements.The pedal-assisted powered bicycle has a 49 cc two stroke engine which runs on 1.4 litres of fuel, enough for 50 or 60 miles, they have sold more than 7 million units worldwide.Sold with the V5C, 2016 MOT, dating certificate, purchase receipt in France, French Certificat de Cession and NOVA. Please note the frame number says it was built in 1966, the V5C says 1968.

USL 509Frame no. 919244Engine no. 880887The Motobecane company started producing motorcycles in 1924 and was soon to become the most popular motorcycle manufacturer in France. Later a subsidiary company was formed called Motoconfort and manufactured mopeds, scooters and motorbikes. The ‘Z57 C’, MobyStand 57 was manufactured from 1956 to 1964 and used a 125cc four stroke engine with enclosed rocker arms, a 4-speed gearbox and swinging arm rear suspension.This 125cc Mobystand 57 was restored to a good standard some years ago and appears to have had little use since, still appearing to be in very nice condition, the bike has been recently run.Comes with – a current V5C.

1972 Motobecane Mobylette, Type 40 ,49 cc. Registration number CWF 397K. Frame number 40084984. Engine number 9011192. The Mobylette was launched in 1949 and was manufactured until 1997, with production numbers exceeding 14 million with peak production in the 1970s, averaging around 750,000 annually. The word "Mobylette" has since become something of a genericized trademark in the French language, referring to mopeds in general. 1970s 50V model All Motobécane mopeds are generally referred to (and usually carry the name) Mobylette, however there are several styles of submodel. Particularly during the moped boom of the 1970s, several variations were available, usually incorporating a number/letter combination such as 40T, 40TL, 40V, and 50V. These naming conventions determined which types of equipment were standard or even available with the moped. For example, the 40T was usually a slower version, capable of just 25mph maximum speed and having no rear suspension. The top of the line 50V had front and rear suspension, a heavier body, and was capable of 30 to 35 miles per hour. CWF was purchased by our vendor in 1976 and has MOT's from 1975 until 1978 when it came off the road and was stored in the family garage. That garage has now been cleared and the Moby reappeared. Sold with the V5 and old MOT's it will make an interesting project. It is not registered with DVLA.

The Cicostar was built in Limoges, and was powered by a Motobecane 50cc engine. Our vendor says the bodywork and paint are in average order and the interior presents in the same, average order. The engine is reported to be good for starting, running and presentation and the running gear is said to be good. There is little history with this lot.
