When it emerged that Knox would not be returning to Kingston, a group of his former students also resigned their places in protest. One of these students, Denise Wren (nee Tuckfield), went on to help establish the Knox Guild of Design and Craft in 1912, a studio workshop in Kingston-Upon-Thames where Knox continued to be a source of inspiration. Wren’s own pottery designs in the 1910s and 1920s can be seen to incorporate Knox’s Art Nouveau and Celtic motifs clearly. The Oxshott Pottery was set up by Denise Wren and her husband Henry at their home, Potters Croft, in Oxshott, Surrey in 1920.
