A throwing stick. Possibly Fijian length 47cm together with a spear. (2) Maurice Jenkins (1933-2022). North Cornwall collector. Maurice was a lifetime collector and started in the 1950s. He opened a shop in Liskeard in the 1970s called Canon Hill Antiques. He visited a number of Middle Eastern countries in his lifetime including Egypt in the late 1970's when his interest in Islamic and Asian antiques began. He was a man with an eye for quality and a love of antiques, history and travel who purchased privately and at auction over the decades. Over a lifetime of purchasing privately and at auction, he created an eclectic ensemble of collections reflecting his interests. He died a few weeks before his 90th birthday and was still buying until that time.

A Regency pollard oak pole screen attributed to George Bullock The circular adjustable screen, now with a later needlework, on a brass shaft with a giltwood spear finial, on a tri-partite base with scroll feet, 40cm wide, 160cm high. With close similarities to a pair of pole screens supplied to M. R. Boulton (d. 1842) and by descent to Major Eustace Robb, Tew Park, Great Tew, Oxfordshire, sold Christie's house sale, 27-29 May 1987, lot 33.
A Masai spear, the 31" parallel sided head of lozenge section; with 27" spike base, and short wooden haft, 83" overall; an Indo Persian spear or lance, with ribbed head, facetted socket, and plain wood haft, 74" overall; an iron lance, with ribbed leaf shaped head and spatulate foot, 77" overall; and 2 other spears. Ca. 5000 - 3000 BC. A group of flint and obsidian arrowheads with a concave-base and a projectile point. The two long tangs form a hollow facilitated hafting (the point on an arrow or spear shaft). The tools were used for hunting wild animals in the desert or along the Nile. For similar see: MET Museum Accession Number: 32.2.24. Ca. 3rd - 10th century AD.An Iron spear head with a hand forged blade, the type manufactured by Roman armies as they marched across Europe and North Africa. This spear head has a blade in the shape of a laurel leaf and a small hook at the base of the tip. This would have been used to catch the enemy's weapon. Western Asiatic/Aegan, Ca. 1200 - 700 BC.A striking example of a two-edged bronze blade with a leaf-shaped design and a small tang providing a secure attachment to the spear shaft. The blade boasts a corrugated midrib that extends to the tip and flares at the shoulder. Ca. 350 - 325 BC.A slender Panathenaic amphora, attributed to the Wolfenbuttel Painter, featuring white and ochre decoration. Side A shows an Ionic naiskos scene with a seated warrior holding a helmet and a spear. The figure is flanked by a nude male with wreath and patera, and draped female with wreath and mirror. Side B depicts two youths with staves and a diptych above. Elaborate palmettes decorate the sides below the handles, and a berried laurel in white adorns the top rim. Ca. AD 100 - 300.A rectangular panel illustrating the Great Renunciation, it is flanked by pilasters framed by Corinthian columns. At the heart of the scene is a haloed, bare-chested Bodhisattva seated on a bed, with one leg hanging. His right hand is raised, and on the side sits Chandaka with his hands outstretched in a gesture offering a turban. Chandaka is dressed in a turban, similar to the one he offers to the Bodhisattva. Behind the Bodhisattva, his wife is asleep. On the opposing side of the Bodhisattva, a guard is seated, holding a spear. Beneath the bed, three female attendants are in a squatted position, each dressed in long flowing tunics. Their heads are either turned away or obscured in their arms. Mounted on a custom-made stand. A Chinese porcelain famille vert ginger jar, cover, and stand, 19th century, the ovoid ginger jar decorated in the Kangxi manner with birds perched upon rocky outcrops beneath blossoming sprays, bearing green artemisia leaf to the underside, raised on an associated carved wood base, with carved wood cover, 19cm high overall (at fault)Condition report; Pitted and stained to the interior. Wear to the spear head borders towards the lower section and shoulder section of the jar. Some pitting and scratching can be seen to the exterior. Cover with visible losses. Cover measures 6cm internal diameter and 8cm external diameter.

Hieronymus Wierix - St Michael Triumphing Over The Dragon / Description: St Michael triumphing over the dragon; St Michael, holding a spear and a shield, seen standing on a dragon, piercing his mouth with the spear; behind, to right, the war in heaven between angels and demons. Signed: 'Hieronymus Wierx fecit et excud' and 'Cum Gratia et Privilegio Buschere. Below image the Latin sentence: 'QUIS UT DEUS?' which means 'who (is) like God', and is the literal translation of the name Michael.
