Registration No: F343 TBV Chassis No: VF7AZKA00KA339156 MOT: August 2024Special order commission by the vendor from marque specialists 2CV CityCurrent ownership since 2010 with just three former keepersProfessionally converted by 2CV City from a car to Fourgonnette (van)Used by the vendor as part of his antiques businessPLEASE NOTE: This lot is now being offered without reserve. The development of Citroën's ever-charming Deux Chevaux dates back to 1936, i.e. a couple of years after the company had been rescued by Michelin. It was intended to motorise the large number of French farmers still relying on horses and carts, and it was research carried out amongst France's largely rural population that determined the following unique design brief: a low-priced, rugged 'umbrella on four wheels' that would enable four peasants to drive 110lb of farm goods to market at 31mph in clogs and via muddy, unpaved roads; including transporting eggs across a ploughed field without breaking them. Production was delayed by WWII, but began in 1948, following which 3,872,583 2CVs were manufactured via 11 factories across the world (including one in Slough, England) between 1948 and 1990, by which time the aging design had been defeated by contemporary legislation. The peak of 2CV sales in the United Kingdom would be reached in 1986, with 7,520 new 2CVs were registered in Britain that year.Manufactured new in 1988, ‘F343 TBV’ was supplied new to the United Kingdom being first registered on the 1st of September that year. Elected as the car for the basis of a conversion to Fourgonnette (van) by specialists 2CV City following the vendor’s special order with them in 2010, the 2CV was fitted with a fiberglass rear van body. Finished in the popular 2CV colour scheme of Maroon and Cream, the Citroen has been fitted with a CD Player and was supplied to the vendor in 2010, being pressed into action with the vendor, moving small antiques and collectables for his antiques business. Now making way for a 2CV car due to the arrival of grandchildren, ‘F343 TBV’ has been maintained as required through the vendor’s ownership and both started readily and ran well during our photography session. Showing some 43,500 miles on the odometer at the time of consignment, the Citroen has had three former keepers. Supplied with a history file that contains over ten previous MOT certificates, invoices, and a current V5C document, the Citroen also has its jack. Fun and functional, this 2CV is ideal for business use or as a very practical classic!
