1951 BMW RS Type 253a 492cc Racing MotorcycleFrame no. S252 001 (stamped to rear plunger)Engine no. none visible (genuine works engine)•Exceptionally rare post-war racing model•On static display for some considerable time•Requires recommissioning/restoration'Only 32 of the overhead-camshaft RS (Rennsport) engines were originally built, the last in 1953, although plenty of spares and modifications were turned out later. The RS of 1953 was scarcely impressive with its 50bhp, although it had far more useful torque and basic stability than the purebred racers of England and Italy.' - LJK Setright, On Two Wheels. When BMW-mounted Georg Meier became the first foreign winner of the Isle of Man Senior TT in 1939, it marked the pinnacle of pre-war success for a firm that, remarkably, had not built a motorcycle of its own until 1923. Originally an aero engine manufacturer, Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) had come into being in July 1917 when the Bayerische Fluzeugwerke (BFW) company was reorganised. BMW's engines proved their worth time and again in aerial combat in WWI, but on cessation of hostilities the firm had no option but to seek other work, hence the switch to motorcycles. As far as competition was concerned, BMW would not be ready to challenge the British factories - which dominated international motorcycle racing - for some time, choosing instead to concentrate its efforts on speed records. Works rider Ernst Henne held the world motorcycle speed record for most of the 1930s, leaving it at 173.57mph in 1937, a figure that would not be bettered until 1951. From 1935 onwards Henne used a supercharged (kompressor) 500cc twin, and this forced induction technology was first applied to the factory road racers that same year. BMW's spirit of innovation also extended to the racers' cycle parts: telescopic front forks were fitted from '35 and plunger rear suspension from 1937, but it was not until 1939 that it all came together in that historic Senior TT victory. When the FIM banned superchargers from international competition after the war, BMW responded by developing a new, normally aspirated racer, albeit one based on the basic pre-war design. The first engines were effectively the pre-war type minus the 'amputated' kompressor, but these were merely interim designs pending the arrival of one developed from the start with normal aspiration in mind. By 1956 the RS had benefited from considerable development. In 1956 BMW works rider Walter Zeller finished 4th at the Isle of Man TT, was 2nd at the Dutch TT and Belgian Grand Prix, and 3rd at the Italian round, ending the season as runner-up behind MV's John Surtees in the World Championship. Two years later privateer Dickie Dale rode an RS to 3rd place in the World Championship, beaten only by MV works riders Surtees and John Hartle. Bonhams consulted the BMW Archive when researching this machine and the engine is a very rare factory racing unit that marks the transition from the 'amputated' kompressor motor to the RS54 model of 1952/53. Dating from 1951, it has the old chassis with telescopic fork and plunger rear suspension and the first version of the newly developed Type 253 engine. Type 253b from 1952 had the same engine but a new swinging-arm chassis. Unfortunately, these exceptionally rare models are barely documented.Clearly unused for a considerable period, this BMW RS will require careful recommissioning, or potentially more extensive restoration, before further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed (the engine turns over). The fuel tank appears to be of modern construction and it should be noted that the gearbox feels loose. 1939 BMW 494cc R51Registration no. Not registeredFrame no. 509364Engine no. OZ-80 504431An important milestone in the development of BMW's long-running flat-twin occurred in 1936 with the introduction of the 494cc R5. Prior to that the BMW engine had been recognisably related to the first of its type, the 1923 R32, and like those of its (500cc) predecessors, the R5's engine dimensions were 'square' at 68x68mm bore/stroke. However, the overhead-valve R5 engine broke new ground by adopting two chain-driven camshafts, a move that permitted shorter pushrods and higher revs. Maximum power increased to 24bhp at 5,800rpm while top speed was an impressive 140km/h (87mph). In 1938 this flagship model was up-dated as the R51, gaining a telescopic front fork and plunger rear suspension, and continued in production until 1940.Apparently original, this example's frame and engine numbers correspond with R51 production numbers for 1939-40 and match those of an R51 delivered to the BMW dealer in Schwerin in March 1939. The machine comes with a 2015 Wudo Motorrad invoice for various minor components; there are no other documents on file. An older restoration clearly unused for a considerable period, the machine will require careful recommissioning or potentially more extensive restoration before further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed (the engine turns over). Prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to the condition, completeness, authenticity and compatibility of this Lot's component parts prior to bidding. 1976 Honda GL1000 Gold WingRegistration no. OMY 62RFrame no. GL1-2033656Engine no. GL1E-2032875In a world grown accustomed to an excess of decadence on all fronts, it is hard to imagine the mixture of awe and disbelief that greeted the Honda Gold Wing on its arrival in 1974. 'Motorcycle or sci-fi fantasy?' was Bike magazine's reaction. 'Quite simply the most advanced motorcycle ever made,' was Honda's preferred description, and given the mind-boggling specification: 1,000cc flat-four engine, water cooling, belt-driven overhead camshafts, shaft drive, triple disc brakes, etc, it was certainly complex if not, strictly speaking, that advanced. One of the fastest production motorcycles of its day, the Gold Wing was described in Honda's Stateside ads as 'the epitome of what touring is all about' and proved eminently capable of taking sales from both BMW and Harley-Davidson. As owners began to fit more and more accessories - including trailers the size of small caravans - engine capacity was increased first to 1,100cc and then to 1,200cc to cope with the increasing demands for more power. Over the years the 'Wing has continued to grow in engine capacity, overall size and complexity, which only serves to underline the increasingly collectible original's purity of form. This early example comes with documentation including parts invoices from David Silver Spares; various services invoices; the purchase receipt (dated 2018); a V5C Registration Certificate; and a quantity of tax reminders. Keys present.Footnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.REQUEST A TRANSPORT QUOTEPlease click the link to request a transport quote from our recommended transport company, Moving Motorcycles. To request a UK or European shipping quote - Moving MotorcyclesTo request an International shipping quote - ShippioThis Lot will be auctioned on Sunday 13 October starting at 11am GMT.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

2013 BMW 798cc F800GTRegistration no. RJ63 CKGFrame no. WB10B0304EZ050079Engine no. 802EA*08828943*The BMW F-Series began in 1994 with single cylinder 650cc models. Originally built for BMW by Aprilia, with a Rotax engine, they were equipped with four valves per cylinder, and were an entry-level model for the marque. From 2008, the engines were replaced by twin cylinder ones, liquid cooled, and made by BMW themselves, in a number of different models with varying power outputs and configurations. Whilst the 800s were popular as a GS model, in 2013 the F800GT touring model was introduced, and riders found them to be an excellent general road/touring model. RJ63 CKG was purchased by the owner with 19 miles on the odomater in March 2014, having been registered on 2nd December 2013, possibly by the dealer, so the owner appears as the second keeper. It has been little used by the vendor, and thus far, covered only 346 miles in total from brand new at the time of consignment. Despite the low mileage, the BMW has been twice serviced by BMW main dealers, fitted with an Akrapovic silencer, and has had four MoTs in the course of the present ownership. The F800GT has been kept in very good conditions, remains in pristine order, and is effectively a new motorcycle in all but name. However, whilst it starts and rides, having been standing since the last Mot, it will require the lightest of re-commissioning and safety checks. Documentation comprises a current V5C, an old V5C, some of the expired MoT certificates, the aforementioned service invoices, the original bill of sale, the original book pack with rider's manual, warranty and service booklet. The bike is presently on SORN.Offered with keyFootnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.REQUEST A TRANSPORT QUOTEPlease click the link to request a transport quote from our recommended transport company, Moving Motorcycles. To request a UK or European shipping quote - Moving MotorcyclesTo request an International shipping quote - ShippioThis Lot will be auctioned on Sunday 13 October starting at 11am GMT.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

c.1968 BMW R50/2Registration no. LEV NC 90 (DE)Frame no. 686848 (see text)Engine no. 646848In the early 1950s, BMW concentrated on refining what were essentially pre-war designs, but by 1955 was ready with a brace of new machines, the R50 and R69. Of 494cc and 594cc respectively, the newcomers inherited the updated flat-twin engine introduced on the R51/3 a few years previously, but deployed this in all-new cycle parts, the most notable departures from preceding practice being an Earles-type leading-link front fork and swinging-arm rear suspension enclosing the driveshaft in the right leg - developments first seen on the works racers. The applied headstock identity plaque shows frame number '646848'. Furthermore, the headstock itself is stamped with two frame numbers: the first illegible (possibly '646848)', and the second (clear stamping) '686848'. According to BMW Archives, the frame number should be '646848', as '686...' is outside the number range. This machine was delivered to the police in Krefeld in 1968 (the green colour is correct for such a police motorcycle). An older restoration (date and details unknown) that still presents well, the BMW has clearly not been used for a considerable period of time and will require careful recommissioning, or potentially more extensive restoration, before further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed (the engine turns over). Accordingly, prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to the condition, completeness, authenticity and compatibility of this Lot's component parts prior to bidding. Property of Peter Ardron1965 BMW 594cc R69SRegistration no. JPC 896CFrame no. 658763Engine no. 658763This wonderful R69S motorcycle belongs to Peter Ardron, a well-known and highly respected enthusiast within the BMW community. Restoring these older BMWs has always been his passion, and he probably has more experience of working on them than anyone else in the UK. Indeed, he founded and ran for several years an international vintage BMW club.Peter acquired this R69S 22 years ago and restored it with no expense spared purely for his own use. Fully rebuilt circa 6,000 miles ago, it has had everything done that it could possibly need. All worn frame and engine parts were replaced to return it to 'as new' condition. Wheel bearings, swinging-arm bearings, and suspension units were renewed and the final drive rebuilt with new bearings. Dream Machine of Nottingham resprayed the frame, fuel tank and mudguards. The engine was rebuilt by Peter; being rebored and fitted with new pistons, valves, valve guides and springs, while the gearbox was rebuilt by marque specialist Bob Porecha 20,000 miles ago. Other notable features include 12-volt lighting, a sports fuel tank, and a US-specification 'comfort' seat. The machine last ran in August 2024. Offered with old/current V5/V5C documents.Offered with keyFootnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.REQUEST A TRANSPORT QUOTEPlease click the link to request a transport quote from our recommended transport company, Moving Motorcycles. To request a UK or European shipping quote - Moving MotorcyclesTo request an International shipping quote - ShippioThis Lot will be auctioned on Sunday 13 October starting at 11am GMT.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

c.1942 Zündapp KS750 Military Motorcycle CombinationRegistration no. not registeredFrame no. 602936Engine no. 6606•Built for the German military in WW2•An older restoration•Requires recommissioningFounded at the height of WWI to manufacture armaments, Zündapp found a new role post-war as a producer of motorcycles under the direction of new owner, Dr Fritz Neumeyer, building its first machine, a Levis-powered two-stroke, in 1921. The firm began making its own engines in 1924, selling more than 10,000 machines that year, and in 1933 introduced the first of the four-stroke flat twins that it is best remembered for. The initial 398cc and 498cc sidevalve models were followed in 1939 by the 598cc K600, the latter, like its predecessors, employing designer Richard Küchen's unconventional all-chain four-speed 'gearbox' and shaft final drive. A frame and girder fork made of pressed steel were advanced features. Zündapp's first overhead-valve twin, the KS600, appeared in 1939 and would provide the basis for the military KS750. Developed specifically for service with the Wehrmacht, the KS750 motorcycle combination featured shaft drive to the Steib sidecar's wheel, a reverse gear, hydraulic brakes, and interchangeable wheels. During WW2 the KS750 saw service on every front, its production outstripping that of the similar BMW R75 with some 18,600 built before production was discontinued in 1944. An older restoration, since deteriorated, this example of Zündapp's ubiquitous military KS750 has clearly not been used for a considerable period; accordingly, the machine will require careful recommissioning or potentially restoration prior to further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed (it should be noted that the magneto is missing). Prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to the condition, completeness, authenticity and compatibility of this Lot's component parts prior to bidding. The odometer reading of 42 kilometres is presumed the distance covered since the machine was last restored. The combination comes complete with panniers and a trailer but there are no accompanying documents. History unknown. A 'must have' for the serious collector of military vehicles and perfect for 1940s 'revival' events.Footnotes:Please note that this vehicle is from outside the UK. The Ivan Kessell Collectionc.1919 Gnome-Rhone 125ccRegistration no. not registeredFrame no. to be advisedEngine no. to be advisedOne of the most famous aero engine manufacturers of WWI, Gnome & Rhone was forced to diversify after the conflict's end and introduced its first motorcycle in 1919, building the Granville Bradshaw-designed ABC under licence. In 1923 the firm introduced single-cylinder power units of its own manufacture, pioneering the use of unitary construction for engine/gearbox, and in the 1930s produced a range of BMW-influenced transverse flat-twins with pressed-steel frames. There were singles too, of course, which featured pressed-steel frames like the larger twins. An older restoration, this rare Gnome-Rhone lightweight has been on long-term museum display and will require recommissioning, or possibly more extensive restoration, before further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed. It is not known when Ivan Kessell purchased the machine, but it was probably acquired during the late 1970s/early 1980s like many of the others in the collection. 2005 BMW K1200R Power Cup Racing MotorcycleRegistration no. not registeredFrame no. WB105840X6Engine no. 075052091•Factory-built limited edition model•Ridden by Jeremy McWilliams at the Goodwood Festival of Speed•Retained by BMW until 2017•Present ownership since 2019•2,394 kilometres from newThe BMW K1200R Power Cup was a factory-built racer intended for a one-make championship which ran in parallel with the European MotoGP races, the purpose being to promote the recently introduced K1200R roadster. The Power Cup bikes were based on the stock K1200R but boasted numerous factory modifications to the bodywork, including a carbon-fibre under-tray, headlamp shroud, intake panels, single seat cover, hand guards, and engine protection. A titanium Laser exhaust and ECU remap boosted power to 175bhp and the package was finished off with a quick-shifter, 2D race dashboard with lap timer, Gilles adjustable rear-sets, WP suspension, fuel tank baffling, Brembo brakes, and Metzler Racetec tyres. Never raced, this particular bike was used by BMW UK to promote the road bike around the dealer network, and in 2006 was ridden by Jeremy McWilliams at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Jeremy did a number of rolling burnouts which resulted in the rear tyre coming apart; the marks made in the underside of the seat are still visible. The machine was also displayed at the Brands Hatch round of the World Superbike Championship. It was kept as part of BMW's historic fleet until 2017 and then sold via a closed auction to a BMW dealer, who sold it on to a BMW regional manager the same day. Our vendor purchased the Power Cup from a BMW dealer in 2019, since when he has done the occasional track day with the bike, reporting it to be really stable and very fast. A letter on file dated 11th March 2019 from the previous owner states that at that time the bike had covered approximately 600 miles from new and had never been raced or dropped (the current odometer reading is 2,394 kilometres). At that time an instructor at Cadwell Park and Snetterton, the previous owner stated: 'it handles beautifully and the brakes are powerful and progressive. In short, it is a lovey, comfortable, powerful and easy bike to ride with gear shift assist on the up-change.' The machine last ran in August 2024 and the vendor reports that oil and filter changes have been carried out annually. Documentation consists of the aforementioned letter, a build sheet, an information display board, and instructions for the 2D dash. There is no registration document with this Lot. 1981 BMW 475cc R45Registration no. PNB 522WFrame no. 6304117Engine no. 6304117BMW extended its range of horizontally opposed twins in the late 1970s with the introduction of the R45 and R65. Looking very much like scaled down versions of BMW's larger models, the duo, which shared identical cycle parts, featured sharper, more modern styling while both weight and overall dimensions were reduced. Tested by Bike magazine in 1979, the R45 recorded a top speed of 95mph while returning an overall fuel consumption of 56.2mpg. Few changes were made to these smaller twins before production ceased in 1985.This R45 was purchased by the current vendor in 2008 at the Bonhams Autumn Stafford sale (Lot 565), since then he has put the BMW through a cosmetic refurb including a new battery, tyres, front disk, seat and a full repaint to the gloss white currently adorned on the motorcycle. The David Collier Collection1982 BMW 980cc R100RSRegistration no. CBM 45XFrame no. 6079546Engine no. 6079546•Two owner example•Supremely practical touring motorcycle•Krauser panniers have been fitted from newThe R100RS was a groundbreaking motorcycle. BMW had been regarded as manufacturers of expensive, beautifully built, but fairly staid motorcycles. If the earlier R90S had broken the mould, the R100RS took it a whole stage further. Its wind tunnel designed fairing allowed prolonged 100+mph cruising with a top speed of about 125. With 70 bhp, a weight of 208 kgs, and a tank capacity of 24 litres, it could undoubtedly go the distance, and was the connoisseur's choice from the late 70s until the mid 80s. Today, over 40 years later, it remains a supremely practical touring motorcycle without the extra bulk which characterises the full-on RT version. It is reckoned that the 1981-1984 models were the best, benefitting from a variety of improvements including electronic ignition, a lighter flywheel, and better brakes.According to the accompanying V5 David is the second owner of this RS, having acquired it in July 1985. The displayed mileage of 39,408 is confirmed by multiple MOT certificates, the oldest being issued in 1985 (mileage then 3,371), and the most recent in 2021 (mileage 39,345). It is supplied with its rider's handbook which includes the service record. This has been stamped by the supplying dealer for its first service. In the current ownership it has been regularly serviced by David's company, David Collier Ltd, and the book updated accordingly. It is accompanied by comprehensive service notes, including full details of David's trips and journeys. We are told that the Krauser panniers have been fitted from new. In his ownership he has fitted useful fairing inner bags, a big foot side stand, heated grips (small switch on dash), new fuel lines, and a new battery (July 2024). He tells us that due 'to back pain and old age' he has fitted higher bars (the original bars are supplied), and that spare keys are hidden within the rear light unit. At the end of his notes David has written 'Enjoy', and 'I can confirm that nothing beats this machine for cold and wet weather riding'We urge interested bidders to view the running video on our website. Such is his confidence in the machine that, subject to his health allowing it, David is happy to provide technical support and advice over the telephone to the new owner. Prospective bidders should satisfy themselves as to the motorcycle's completeness and mechanical condition prior to bidding. Sold strictly as viewed. Ignition and pannier keys are supplied.Offered with keyFootnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.REQUEST A TRANSPORT QUOTEPlease click the link to request a transport quote from our recommended transport company, Moving Motorcycles. To request a UK or European shipping quote - Moving MotorcyclesTo request an International shipping quote - ShippioThis Lot will be auctioned on Sunday 13 October starting at 11am GMT.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Of 500cc and 600cc respectively, the newcomers inherited the up-dated flat-twin engine introduced on the R51/3 a few years previously, but deployed this in all-new cycle parts, the most notable departures from preceding practice being the Earles-type leading-link front fork and swinging-arm rear suspension enclosing the drive-shaft in the right leg - developments first seen on the works racers. Luxury tourers, the R50 and R69 sold to discerning enthusiasts to whom expense mattered little when set against the excellence of BMW engineering. Our vendor acquired this BMW R50 in 2017 as a non-runner; he proceeded to get the Beemer running, repainted it and fitted a new exhaust, silencer, seat and luggage rack. Since then the machine has covered some 200-300 miles and last ran in 2023. Lack of use, other bikes and other projects are the reasons for sale. The machine is offered with an old-style RF.60 logbook, a current V5C, instruction manuals, parts book/repair manual, manufacturer's brochure, and a tool box key.Footnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.REQUEST A TRANSPORT QUOTEPlease click the link to request a transport quote from our recommended transport company, Moving Motorcycles. To request a UK or European shipping quote - Moving MotorcyclesTo request an International shipping quote - ShippioThis Lot will be auctioned on Sunday 13 October starting at 11am GMT.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Registration No: F432 SLJ Chassis No: WBABA320402255224 MOT: September 2025Warranted 93,365 miles from new as corroborated by its MOT historyFamously smooth 2-litre straight-six engine allied to five-speed manual transmissionWell preserved, factory-fitted Black leather interior and said to 'drive extremely well'The BMW E30 is the second generation of BMW 3-Series, which was produced from 1982 to 1994 after replacing the E21 3-Series. The model range included coupé and convertible body styles, as well as being the first 3-Series to be produced in saloon and estate body styles. The 320i was fitted with a two-litre straight-six petrol engine mated to either a five-speed Getrag manual or four-speed automatic pushing it to over 120mph. Far, far rarer than its saloon siblings, just 32,686 examples of BMW’s iconic E30-generation 320i Convertible were made (with most being to LHD specification).First registered on the 1st August 1988, 'F432 SLJ' was specified in Alpine White over a Black leather interior with a Black mohair hood and was fitted from factory with the desirable five-speed manual transmission. Throughout the car’s life, it has evidently been cherished and is presented with a comprehensive service history and the original book pack.Purchased by the vendor in 2016, the E30’s V5C records six previous keepers and displays 93,365 miles from new which is believed genuine as evidenced by MOT history. Upon inspection, the straight-six power unit fired into life with incredible ease and the vendor is confident that the mechanical condition of the car is ‘very good to excellent’. The paintwork appears to have been equally well cared for and it was hard to find age-related wear – the vendor also states that the condition is ‘very good’. The owner advises that the Black leather interior ‘appears to show far less miles than is indicated’ although he did state that the steering wheel leather has worn through at the top and will require repair. The vendor has thoroughly enjoyed the now very desirable cabriolet for eight years, and due to an expansion in his collection, but not an expansion in storage space, he feels it is due a new, loving home. The six-cylinder E30s have been becoming ever more desirable in recent years and this example would look very much at home in any prospective buyer’s collection.PLEASE NOTE: This BMW has recently been through a fresh MOT with no advisories and has had the steering wheel repaired professionally in preparation for sale. Registration No: M5 OTD Chassis No: WBSDE92000BJ10581 MOT: May 20251 of just 2,595 E39 RHD European examples manufacturedModest mileage of under 92,000 miles from newOriginally a BMW dealer demonstrator car and in current ownership since 2009Offered with a history file including the stamped service bookEven by the superlative standards of the BMW M-cars that began with the M1 in 1978, the E39 M5 made from 1998 to 2003 is generally regarded as a standout model. Powered by a rev-hungry 4941cc S62 V8 engine (rated at 394bhp / 369lbft), the super Saloon was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds and 155mph (limited). Right-hand drive European-specification production amounted to just 2,595 cars.Chassis number ‘BJ10581’ was supplied new by the BMW GB Distribution Centre, being first registered on the 12th January to the BMW Demonstration Fleet as a dealer demonstrator. Finished from the factory in Anthracite paintwork with attractive Caramel Nappa Heritage leather interior upholstery and rare optional Bruyere Club wood trim, the M5 was very well specified from the factory, with the optional extras including electric rear windscreen blind; rear window blinds; park distance control; electric sunroof; auto-dim interior and exterior mirror; electric and heated front seats with lumbar support; xenon headlamps; and air conditioning, amongst numerous other options. Supplied to its first private owner in May 2000, the M5 has now had five private owners and has covered a modest under 92,000 miles from new.Residing in the custodianship of the vendor since 2009 and living in a carpeted garage during this time, the BMW has needed for very little, receiving wheel refurbishment and tyres, as well as a couple of oil and filter services across the mere 12,000 miles covered in fifteen years. Supplied with the apt cherished ‘M5’ registration number, the E39 is also accompanied by a history file that contains a collection of previous MOTs and invoices, a current MOT until May next year, V5C Registration Document, and the full book pack in the BMW wallet, including the owner’s handbook and stamped service book that documents eight services. Due to be driven to the sale, not much comes close in terms of real-world driving enjoyment as an E39 M5. For more information, please contact: Paul Cheetham paul.cheetham@handh.co.uk 07538 667452

Registration No: DAK 760 Chassis No: 74554 MOT: Exempt1 of just 19 examples manufactured, with c.12 reputed to have survivedComprehensively restored by the TT Workshop in approximately 2005Part of BMW UK's historic fleet from 2015-2022 and displayed at various events with BMWRecommissioned by BMW in 2022Cosmetically detailed while in the vendor's ownership and now presenting excellentlyThe reputation of BMW as a manufacturer of sporting motorcars initially started with the annual ‘Eifel Race’ event, held at the Nürburgring. On the 14th of June 1936, Ernst Henne beat a field that included 1½-litre single-seat racing cars driving the prototype of what would become one of the most iconic sports cars of all time – the legendary ‘328’. The 328 would go on to dominate the 2-litre race class and achieved outright victory in the 1940 Mille Miglia. The fact that the initial victory of 1936 had been achieved only eight years after BMW’s establishment as an automobile manufacturer made it all the more remarkable. To capitalise on the racing success, the company launched a new range of models that would become the foundation of its reputation as a manufacturer of highest quality cars with power and style. The 328 flagship of the range incorporated a lightweight tubular chassis and a powerful straight-six engine with overhead valves and triple carburettors.Alongside the 328, BMW offered the 327, a delightful four-seater sports tourer based on a shortened, boxed, ladder-type chassis with semi-elliptic rear springs, a Hurth 4-speed gearbox and hydraulic brakes all round. Offered as a two-door Coupe or Cabriolet, there was also two engine options, the more powerful of which (the 327/80) utilised the lusty 80bhp unit from the 328. This engine was the masterpiece of designer Rudolf Schleicher and although only displacing 1,971cc, it utilised hemispherical combustion chambers, inclined valves and twin downdraught inlet ports generating a very credible 80bhp in standard tune. The styling was again the work of Peter Schimanowski and lent itself to the two-tone paintwork that adorned many examples of the breed.Rewinding the clock somewhat to January 1st 1929, a former GN apprentice became managing director of AFN Ltd., H.J. ‘Aldy’ Aldington, was also a keen competitor. Dubbed the ‘High Priest of the Chain Gang’ by none other than Bill Boddy, his team finished second overall on the 1933 Alpine Trial. Determined to go one better the following year, he was dismayed to find that his Chain Gang Nashes were no match for BMW’s new 315 Two-Seater Sports. Thanks to financial input from A.F.P. Fane, AFN Ltd became the sole concessionaire for BMW in the UK during November 1934 with the resultant right-hand drive cars being offered as Frazer-Nash BMWs. This arrangement continued until the outbreak of war in 1939 when, unsurprisingly, it was rapidly terminated. Only 19 examples of the Frazer Nash-BMW 327/80s were imported and, it's believed, just 12 survive.Imported by AFN Ltd into Isleworth in early 1939 for supply to its first owner and road registered ‘DAK 760’, the 327/80 is finished attractively in Midnight Blue over Cream with Blue pinstripes. Possessing a real presence and displaying none of the stately Teutonic pomp normally associated with pre-war German cabriolets, but echoes the elegant lines of thirties' Alfas with styling cues that suggest the work of those ‘swoopy’ Blue and Cream creations beloved of the French coachbuilders. The story is continued throughout the interior with lavish Navy Blue leather, with a beautiful dashboard fitted with Cream-faced Art Deco-style instruments and clocks surrounded by an array of Bakelite switches and knobs. The folding Blue soft-top appears in excellent condition and the jack etc. are neatly stashed in the engine bay.Lavished with a full restoration in approximately 2005 by well-renowned marque specialists, TT Workshop, which included a full engine overhaul and gearbox renewal to the cost of some £17,000 before thereafter joining BMW UK's Historic Fleet in 2015. Remaining there for several years, the 327/80 was featured at various events and displays before the decision to rationalise the Historic Fleet was taken in 2022. Provided with a full recommissioning by BMW, the Frazer-Nash was then acquired by the vendor into his private collection, which does contain other significant BMWs. Used for events and shows during the vendor's ownership, the brakes were also overhauled by Norfolk Classics shortly after purchase, and now reputedly runs well. Cosmetically detailed by the vendor and then simply used and enjoyed, the Frazer-Nash now comes to market ready for the next custodian.Having covered minimal mileage since the TT Workshop restoration (a believed 900 miles), this exceptionally rare, examples of the 327/80 rarely come to market making this an opportunity not to be missed for Frazer-Nash or BMW enthusiasts. Registration No: B10 AXA Chassis No: WAPBA33L09FE45044 MOT: July 2025Build Number 44 of a reputed 112 B10 3.3 Saloon models worldwideRare and highly desirable manual gearbox exampleCurrent ownership for eleven years and just five former keepersSupplied with a history file including documented service historyThe Alpina B10 3.2, 3.3, V8 and V8S petrol-engined models were built in saloon and estate body styles based on the E39 from January 1997 to May 2004. The BMW Alpina B10 3.3 produced 276bhp @ 6,200bhp and 335Nm (247 lb ft) of torque @ 4,500rpm. Alpina only made 112 of the B10 3.3 saloon models worldwide, from a total E39 B10 production run of 472, split across six-cylinder and V8s, saloon and touring models. Alpina really threw everything at this model! Unlike the earlier 3.2 version (which used a 528i engine as a base), the 3.3 Alpina took the legendary S52B32 engine from the US-spec E36 M3 and then increased the stroke to up the capacity to 3.3 litres. It was then fitted with lightweight MAHLE pistons with a ported and polished cylinder head, with a new crankshaft with torsional vibration dampers and revised ECU software.Build number 44 of the 112 B10s produced, was manufactured in 1999 and was supplied new to the United Kingdom being first registered on the 1st March that year. Finished in Anthracite Grey paintwork with Montana Grey leather interior upholstery, the Alpina was specified with the rare and highly desirable manual gearbox, as well as electric rear windscreen blind and rear window privacy blinds, 19’ staggered alloys, Angel Eye, and LED lights, as well as having a tracking system. In current ownership since 2013, the Alpina has covered some 18,000 miles in this time and has just five former keepers. Offered with apt ‘B10’ registration number included, its original unused tool kit, glove box torch, medical kit, Schnitzer heated wing mirrors and a stainless steel exhaust, the B10 is rated by the vendor as ‘very good’ in regards to bodywork, paintwork, engine, gearbox, and electrical equipment, and as having ‘excellent’ interior trim. Offered with a history file that includes the original book pack including the stamped service book, as well as historic invoices and MOTs, a no advisory MOT until July next year, and a current V5C document. Registration No: LG02 FKR Chassis No: WDC2030652RO35160 MOT: September 2025Built to the special order of former Works Ferrari, BRM, Connaught and Aston Martin driver Tony Brooks who collected it from the factory1 of just 326 UK-supplied examplesFaster, rarer and subtler than a BMW M3 (E46), Autocar finding one capable of 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and 0-100mph in 10.8 secondsImpressive specification included deletion of the standard speed limiterWell documented service history and obviously well cared forLaunched in 2001, the Mercedes-Benz C32 AMG proved faster, rarer and subtler than the contemporary BMW M3 (E46). Comprehensively reworked by AMG, the newcomer’s 3.2 litre V6 featured a new crankshaft, conrods, pistons, lightweight camshafts and hardened valve springs. Force-fed via a twin-scroll IHI supercharger, the free-revving powerplant developed some 349bhp / 339lbft. The ride height was lowered by 30mm, the suspension stiffened and the brakes uprated, while the five-speed automatic transmission was recalibrated to shift thirty-five percent faster. Although limited to 155mph, Autocar found the super saloon capable of 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds (though, 180mph was rumoured to be possible if the relevant electrics were disabled). Just 326 C32 AMG Saloons are thought to have been supplied new to the UK.The accompanying original invoice shows that the late Tony Brooks received a ‘special discount’ of some €9,000 when ordering chassis 035160 direct from the factory; a measure perhaps of the respect he still commanded some forty-one years after hanging up his helmet. Finished in Brilliant Silver with Anthracite leather upholstery, his special order C32 AMG boasted a sunroof, air-conditioning, Xenon headlights, heated windscreen washers, COMAND, ski bag, electric rear window blind and disabled speed limiter (making it rather more comfortable than the Mercedes Gullwing he had campaigned for Rob Walker in period). Main dealer maintained up until 82,414 miles, the last five services were carried out by marque specialist Star-Tec of Surrey with the most recent being at 118,601 (c.1,500 miles ago). Obviously well cared for, the super saloon’s bodywork and paintwork belie its age and mileage. Lacking the flared wheelarches and more aggressive bodykits of subsequent AMGs, the C32’s electrifying performance is deliciously at odds with its understated looks. Retained by Mr Brooks until his death in 2022, the six-time F1 race winner remains the Mercedes-Benz’s only registered keeper. Surely one for the future given its rarity and provenance, ‘LG02 FKR’ is offered for sale with V5C Registration Document, book pack, MOT certificate, Internationaler Zulassungsschein and associated paperwork. Registration No: FSV 739 Chassis No: 332808 MOT: ExemptOn offer from the estate of the late David NevePurchased by the later owner who subjected it to a full restorationBrighton built (UK market from new)One of the more successful designs of the micro-car era was the BMW Isetta. By 1959 they were powered by a 297cc engine was reckoned capable of 65mph and 55mpg. Approximately 162,000 Isettas had been made by the time production ceased in 1962. This 'big' Isetta 300 The most memorable aspect of the design was the steering wheel and dashboard were attached to and moved with the opening fridge-like door to facilitate entry. From 1957, the two-seater Isetta incorporated sliding side windows for better ventilation.According to the buff logbook supplied within the history file, chassis 332808 was first registered by the supplying dealer, A Williams & Co Ltd of Cheltenham, as ‘657 ADG’ on 16th April 1962. The first private owner, H.J. Scarlett of Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, would keep it until 1964 when it was sold to a lady owner. The little Isetta passed through several owners, being re-registered as ‘FSV 739’ in 1986. Acquired by the late owner, Mr David Neve in 1999, it was now in need of restoration work. A comprehensive overhaul was begun, including repainting, works to the brakes and an engine overhaul and would be the longest owned of his collection. Exceptionally proud of his microcar collection, Mr Neve would often be seen around Norfolk at different car shows with them before his passing earlier in 2024.Mr Neve’s declining health meant that his collection had not been used for some years, so all lots will require some level of mechanical attention. ‘FSV 739’ is to be supplied with a modest history file consisting of the V5C, original buff logbook, previous older V5s, a few old MOTs and a workshop manual. Some spares are included, consisting of a spare engine, headlamps and sundry parts like brake drums. We are honoured to be offering the car collection all at No Reserve at our Duxford Imperial War Museum sale. Registration No: 651 KUO Chassis No: A332022 MOT: ExemptOn offer from the estate of the late David NeveRestored by the late owner and then laid up for a number of years, and will now be a rewarding recommissioning projectAn original Brighton-built carSupplied as one lot with a customised Paxton trailer for transportOne of the more successful designs of the micro-car era was the BMW Isetta. From 1957, the two-seater Isetta incorporated sliding side windows for better ventilation.Understood to have been built at the Brighton works in 1962, chassis ‘A332022’ is understood to retain its original registration number ‘651 KUO’, which is original to the North Devon area. Little is known of the early history of the little Isetta, however, it is believed to have been re-registered with the DVLA on the 8th October 1992, when it was recommissioned for the road. The previous owner, Mr M Paxton purchased the car in 1994 and in 2013, the car was subject to a comprehensive body-off restoration. The engine was found to be in remarkably good condition and treated to a clean and a new exhaust silencer to aid running. Internally, the seat was re-covered in leather and a new rubber floor mat was fitted. The result of all this hard work was that during 2015 the quirky little car won the Isetta Owner's Club ‘Restoration of the Year’ award. The late owner and father of the vendor, Mr David Neve, purchased the iconic two-stroke machine from Mr Paxton in June 2019 and came supplied with the Paxton trailer that it is to be sold with today. Mr Neve’s son recalls that his father was exceptionally proud of his microcar collection and would often be seen around Norfolk at different car shows with them before his passing earlier in 2024.Mr Neve’s declining health meant that his collection had not been used for some time, so all lots will require some level of mechanical attention prior to their usage. ‘651 KUO’ is to be supplied with a modest history file consisting of the UK V5C, old style V5 from the previous owner, a spare gasket set for the engine, an original workshop manual and the Paxton Trailer as photographed. We are honoured to be offering the car collection directly from the family at No Reserve at our Duxford Imperial War Museum sale. Registration No: LD08 HXZ Chassis No: SALLAAA138A470454 MOT: September 2025Only 2 former keepers with just under 95,000 miles on the odometerA pleasingly standard, very well-maintained and usable exampleRecently servicedMajor works including gearbox service, cambelts and attention to the braking systemAlmost four years after Ford's acquisition of Land Rover from BMW in April of 2004 that Land Rover introduced the Discovery 3. This was the first major update for the Discovery name since 1989 and it was well deserved; whilst being an entirely new car it retained the key features of the Discovery, such as the stepped roofline and steeply raked windscreen. This generation of Discovery also introduced air suspension which allowed for greater comfort both on and off-road, along with the ability to change the car's ride height at the flick of a switch, an ideal feature when wanting to enter an underground car park or when traversing rocky terrain.First registered on 19th March 2008 and with only two former keepers, this TDV6 HSE specified example of the Discovery 3, a 6-speed auto, displays just under 95,000 miles on the odometer. Our vendor has owned the car since late 2021 and is now selling it as he doesn’t use it as often as he used to. A pleasingly standard, well-maintained and usable example, the Discovery has been very well maintained in current ownership and evidently, from the invoice trail, prior to this.In its life, important works have included a gearbox, diff and transfer box service at 80,815 miles, cambelts at 79,211 miles and attention to the air suspension and braking system, with much regular expenditure. It was recently the subject of a service (September 2024) by PJS, Essex, who have been looking after the maintenance of the Discovery in current ownership. The accompanying service record has 10 entries, with the majority of servicing, as with much of the previous mechanical work, entrusted to independent specialists Town and Country. It is offered with a collection of invoices for works by independent specialists, the service record booklet and a current V5C Registration Document.
