Taxidermy: Indian Tiger Skin Rug (Panthera tigris tigris), circa 1939, numbered 26414, by Van Ingen Van Ingen, Mysore, India, skin rug with head mount, jaw agape, glass eyes, mounted upon typical original canvas backing material, vestiges of original Van Ingen care label to verso, stencilled Van Ingen text to verso including number 26414, 277cm nose to tail, 188cm across the fore-limbs, 173cm across the rear limbs, Tiger skin and skull received 06/03/1939 from Mr H.M. Read Esq, taken by Mr W.H. Gibbs who was an official in the Assam Railways that operated through the countryside of Assam, the finished mount was despatched on 22/09/1939. Including signed information letter from National Museums of Scotland confirming provenance and age. CITES Annex A, Appendix I (exempt) Condition Report: Tired condition overall, various small and large stitched repairs to back skin, repair to right flank, repair to right and left shoulder, both ears damaged and showing signs of historical repairs, a bald line to the fur running across the back - probably due to folding and bad storage method, CLAWS FR-3 RR-2 FL-3 RL-4. Tail complete but shows signs of historical repair and re-joining, all teeth remain, small split to left side of nose, various small losses to filler around gumline, NO whiskers remain, eyes good. 23/10/20

Taxidermy: Indian Leopard Skin Rug (Panthera pardus fusca), circa 1920-1935, probably by a village taxidermist, skin rug with snarling open-mouthed head mount, glass eyes, backed onto later green canvas backing material, with dark green felt serrated border, 225cm long nose to tail, 142cm wide across forelimbs. historical moth damage to skin areas, tail damaged but mostly complete, replaced faux upper right fang, repaired peri-mortem scar to back of head, only 1 claw remains, all paws have suffered damage, in need of restoration, including report from the natural History Museum London, 06/10/20
