A JAPANESE TETSUBIN (IRON KETTLE) AND COVER, BY DAIKOKU, MADE FOR THE SEIJUDO COMPANY, MEIJI PERIOD cast in cylindrical form, decorated in high relief with a Chinese scholar possibly Zhao Mengfu (1254-1322) holding a fan seated beneath pine branches beside a crane, the reverse with a three-line inscription, the handle overlaid with floral sprays in gold and silver low relief, signed Daikoku tsukuru, the cover surmounted with a bud finial, the inside of the cover signed with chiselled characters Seijudo tsukuru. 15.5cm high excluding handleSome surface wear but generally in good condition commensurate with age.
A JAPANESE IRON KOMAI-STYLE CIGARETTE BOX the rectilinear hinge-lidded box raised on bracket feet and decorated in typical gold and silver nunome-zogan on a russet ground with a figure approaching a rustic Shinto shrine, a fishing boat passes in the distance beneath a snow-capped Fujiyama, the base marked with a seal of a rising sun Ohayo sei, Taisho-Early Showa period. 10.7cm wideThe hinged cover is installed in a back-to-front orientation. However, it's important to note that the hinge mechanism itself is in excellent working order, and the cover closes tightly as intended. Some minor, age-related surface wear is present, which is to be expected, but the item is generally in good condition, both structurally and aesthetically. The hinged cover issue does not significantly detract from the overall quality of the piece.

The glass is in good condition, and the original stopper fits very well. A couple of dints around the skirt of the base but it does not rock. The cover opens well and closes tightly. In generally good condition.
