Garniture of three early nineteenth century stoneware pot pourri vases with blue, gilt and polychrome floral sprig decoration, twin moulded handles with pierced covers, on circular bases, 29cm - 32cm CONDITION REPORT The two smaller vases have the knops re-glued. One has a large chip to cover. Base of one is broken and re-glued in two pieces. Larger vase is in overall good order. Some wear to gilding and surface scratching on glaze. There are no marks / backstamps

Cup has wear to gilding on handle, rim and finial. Finial has minor nibbles. Both in overall very good condition

Pair early twentieth century Chinese white metal vases of natural closed flower-head form, with floral panel decoration, on slender stems with compressed ball knops and circular pedestal feet, Chinese character marks and maker - W. A. All at approximately 22ozs, 29cm overall height CONDITION REPORT Scratching and minor dents to surface of both vases. One vase rim is slightly distorted and there are signs of file marks in places on body. Stem may have been repaired above knop. Marks rubbed. Other vase with similar file marks in places. Stem has been repaired and solder is clearly visible. Marks rubbed

An interesting 'Kyoto' Vase, 18th century, enamelled and gilt with figures in a landscape between bands of diaper, impressed (mark) and black script Kyoto Kyoyaki and in another hand: l (?) zo, gilding wear, chip and crack, 16cm It is rare to find a piece of 'Satsuma' with a firm attribution to Kyoto where, in fact, most of it was made. As the term 'Satsuma' has common currency, its use is continued here. Condition Report Small chip to the underside of neck rim. 3cm hairline crack to neck. Crazing.
A Kinkozan Satsuma Vase, c.1900, enamelled with a mother and child in a garden, the reverse with houses and reserved on a gilt flower-sprinkled blue ground, gilt Kinkozan and black painter's mark 'Tamayama', wear to gilt rim, 6.5cm Condition Report Gilt rubbing to the rim. Some minor wear to gilt flowers. Panels appear to be OK.
An attractive enamelled Vase, late 19th century, of fluted trumpet form with scrolling foliage above a naturalistic flag iris, gold mark Masatoshi, 19cm Condition Report Some cracks to enamel. Lower parts of enamelled decoration on fluted missing surrounds and enamelling. Solder evident to attach iris flower to leaves. Please see images (available upon request).
A Japanese copper Brush Pot, c.1880, by Jomi Eisuke II of bamboo form the red ground applied with brown bamboo fence and with gold lilies growing from shibuichi leaves, between four bronze leaf buds, circular seal mark, signed Jomi sei, 33.5cm high Literature: See the Nasser D Khalili Collection of Japanese Art, Metalwork Part II, illustration 95, for a vase with an identical mark.
A fine large bronze Jar, Meiji Period, of ovoid form, cast with a man on a rock wielding a silver-bladed dagger and eyeing a giant carp lurking in the waters below, mottled brownish-green patina, signed Cho(?) unsai, chu zo (cast this) and kakihan, 48.5cm Condition Report Surface scratches to the body of the vase. Smaller dents and indentations to the vase to the shoulder. One larger dent to the reverse of the vase. One area to the shoulder has a 'rectangular' piece (2.5 x 1.5) to the surface (a repair?) and also a similar area to the base rim.

Small bowl - rim with glaze chips; flaking glaze; rings dull. Bulbous vase - crack to rim; rim chips. Small vase - rubbing to sides; glaze loss and chips.
Two Transitional Vases, c.1630, one of ovoid form, painted in underglaze blue with peony and bamboo the reverse with swallows, 18cm, the other, of heavy ovoid with a warrior on horseback watched by a literati and pages, four character mark, 'Made for the Brocade Hall', 15.2cm, and a Vase, the ovoid body and tall neck painted with flowers, 21cm, all damaged (3) Condition Report All are cracked. One vase with no obvious faults. Second vase with two pieces missing from neck. A large section of the neck (approx 4cm across and 4cm deep) glued in place.
An unusual pair of crackle glaze Vases, late 19th century, each well enamelled in a 'ko-Kutani' palette with precious objects and red inscriptions, one probably starting 'One lucky year' the shoulders with rui and incised triangles, the necks with prunus, 34cm high (2) Condition Report One vase has a manufacturing flaw to rim.
A Chinese Vase, c.1880, of cylindrical form enamelled in Kangxi style with a pheasant on a rock, birds and a butterfly, separated by cast diaper, and with panels of fruit, the neck with crescent handles, incised mark, 44cm and a pair of globular Jars and Covers, enamelled with figures and warriors, Chenghua marks, 21cm (5) Condition Report The vase has a crack where top of one handle joins the neck.
A large Canton Vase, c.1890, the neck with applied Buddhist lions and dragons, the body with two large panels of warriors and courtly figures, on a bird and floral ground, base crack, one tail repaired, 93cm Condition Report A crack running across the base and 20cm up one side. The tail to one lion reglued. Rubbing to the rim.
An unusual celadon-ground Vase, early 19th century, painted in underglaze blue with the 'Hundred Boys' at various pursuits including bird fancying, lighting fireworks and the legend of Ssu Ma Kuang, and enhanced in bright enamels and gilding with flowers, butterflies, birds and fruit the neck with seeded blue dragon handles, slight wear, 62.3cm Ssu Ma Kuang was a Song sage who, in his boyhood, had saved a young companion, who had fallen into a large jar, by smashing it with a stone. While frequently found on Kakiemon, Chelsea and Meissen, it is uncommon on Chinese porcelain. Condition Report Losses to gilded decoration. Some small areas of enamel loss. A pair of celadon ground Canton 'purse' Vases, c.1830, each moulded and enamelled with underglaze blue roundels surrounded by pheasants fruit and flowers, the necks with gilt Buddhist lions, one with mouth chips, 23.5cm (2) Condition Report One vase with a large and a small chip to rim; also gilding rubbed off rim of same; small glaze blister to blue ribbon. Second vase - gilding rubbed to rim but still visible; small section of enamel missing (to corner of a fan); some glaze flaking to both. No obvious further faults.
A rare pair of inscribed Canton Flowerpots and Covers, c.1840, each of squared octagonal form, moulded with tree rats amongst fruiting vine, and with panels of figures below rope twist handles, the flared feet with fruit flowers and butterflies, the domed and pierced covers, with five apertures, similarly decorated and with rui-edged panels, inscribed, on a pink ground, 23cm (4) Condition Report One vase rim with heavy gilt rubbing and small firing crack. Light gilt rubbing to both. Otherwise no obvious faults.
