Lithograph composed in emphasized gestural linearity from the late work of the Danish artist.

Condition:
The lithograph in colors is relined with gauze; the sheet is faintly toned, slightly stronger in the lower image area. The overall condition is good. The image/sheet measures 103 x 140.5 cm, the framed dimensions are 112 x 149.5 cm.

Asger Jorn (1914-1973)
Asger Jorn was born in 1914 in Jutland, Denmark. In the beginning, he got private painting lessons. In 1936, Jorn moved to Paris to join Fernand Léger's Académie Contemporaine. Later, he was a founding member of the CoBrA-group. His paintings are close to the Informal Art and vary between figurative and abstract painting. Thematically, they are based on Nordic legends and myths. Jorn is especially known for his redesign of old pictures that he bought at flea markets. Whilst his early work shows influences of Le Corbusier, his later style is more dynamic. Asger Jorn's works have been exhibited internationally, and numerous books have been published in his honor. Die Farblithografie ist auf Baumwollgaze doubliert; sie ist minimal, im unteren Darstellungsbereich geringfügig stärker, gebräunt. Der Zustand insgesamt ist gut. Die blattgroße Darstellung misst 103 x 140,5 cm, die gerahmten Maße betragen 112 x 149,5 cm.

Asger Jorn (1914-1973)
Asger Jorn wurde 1914 in Jütland geboren und erhielt zunächst privaten Malstunterricht. Im Jahr 1936 zog Jorn schließlich nach Paris, um in Fernand Légers Académie Contemporaine einzutreten. Später war er ein Gründungsmitglied der CoBrA-Gruppe. Seine Malerei ist mit dem Informel verbunden und variiert zwischen figurativer und abstrakter Malerei. Thematisch orientiert er sich an nordischen Sagen und Mythen. Bekannt sind seine Umgestaltungen alter Bilder, die er auf Flohmärkten erwarb.
