A 19th Century Australian Aboriginal Parrying Shield, Lower Murray River Region, in dense hard wood with a deep chestnut coloured patina, the bowed D shape fascia with stone chiselled decoration of wave and concentric lozenge strapwork, with integral handle, 77cm long, 8cm wide, 3.5cm deep.Each tip with a fine V shape hairline crack, no other damage.

A 19th Century Australian Aboriginal War Club, in dense hard wood with rich brown patina, with a slightly swollen rounded lozenge shape head with pointed tip and fine chip carved decoration to the surface, the flattened cylindrical haft half plain from the head, the lower section with stone tool carved lozenge basket weave decoration, with pointed butt, 66cmFine grain splits to both sides of the head, one side with incised lettering.
A Mid-20th Century Australian Aboriginal 'Pukamani' Ceremonial Bark Panel, painted by Mira-lei (Long Peter, born 1900) of the Tiwi Tribe, with bands of geometric and dotted motifs interspersed with quartered circles in shades of ochre, white and black, with a typed label to verso inscribed "Painted from the memory of an old man's decorating of a pukamani pole, seen when Mira-lei was a boy", 49cm by 37cm, in a later glazed case. Footnote :- The Tiwi Islands (Bathurst or Melville Island) is north of Arnhem Land. The Islanders had a ceremony called the Pukamani which was performed after the death of a local tribesman.The burial Pukumani poles are gifts to please the spirits of the dead.

Signed and numbered along the verso.Height: 48 in x width: 60 in x depth: 1 1/4 in.Condition: The colors are bold and bright and the surface is stable. There are no major tears, losses, or restorations visible when viewed under UV light. There are minute accretions and faint rounded scuffs throughout, particularly along the black regions of the painting; these attriubtes are possibly original to the artistic process. Light dust gathered along the surface. The work is not framed.
