An Elizabeth II engine turned silver cigarette box by Alfred Dunhill, of rectangular form, London, 1961, 19.4cm. Alfred Dunhill / Eloi Pernet "5 Francs 1834" Louis Philippe I - Sigar cutter Designed by Charles Louis Eloi Pernet, slim design, early 1930s. Eloi Pernet, a third generation knife maker from Biesles, France. He founded Eloi Pernet in 1920 and had become known by 1925 by making products for Hermès, Dupont, Vuitton and Dunhill. Pernet created designs on a small scale with intricate details, often using antique silver coins. The coin has the Eloi maker's mark on both sides of the coin, along with the French 'crab' hallmark, used since 1867. All signed, stamped: "Dunhill - Eloi - France - Depose - Made in France" Year: ca 1930 -1935. Hallmarks: Master's mark, crab hallmark, D-Dunhill mark. Weight: 31.9 grams. Grade: 900/1000 (mint).
