With the Governor-General's Proclamation, offering a reward of One Thousand Pounds for the arrest of James Stephens, following his escape from Richmond Prison in Dublin; also gives lists of deserters, etc. Lg. folio 4pp., approx. 42cms x 26cms (16 1/2" x 10 1/4"), now loosely framed. (1) *Probably the most celebrated issue of this entire publication. Stephens' escape from custody rocked the administration to its foundations. In spite of the enormous reward, he was not re-captured and made his escape to Paris & America. Stephens was the founder of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, better known as the Fenian Movement. (1)

Attractive Volume Irish Botanical Sketch Book Northern Ireland: Richardson (Anne Wakefield) A.W.R. & S.E.R. Richardson (Sarah Edith), Album of approx. 46 extremely attractive and competent botanical watercolours, mostly completed in N. Ireland, (a few from localities in England). They are mostly native wild flowers, from around their home, Moyallen, Newcastle, Drumlin, Knockbridge, Burtown etc., all circa 1874/1875, each approx. 14cms x 11cms (5 1/2" x 4 1/2"). All in good condition cont. hf. crimson mor. as an Album, w.a.f. (1)  * Anne Wakefield, & Sarah Edith, were twin sisters, two of eight children of Jane & John Grubb Richardson of Moyallon House, near Gildford in Co. Down. He was a prosperous linen merchant as well as being the founder of a major trans-Atlantic steamship company that served to bring many Irish emigrants to North America, fleeing the Great Hunger in the late 1840's. He was also a philanthropist, and the founder of the model village of Bessbrook, near Newry.

American Revolution. Autograph M/ss document signed Oliver Arnold, of the town of Norwich in the County of New London, State of Connecticut, dated 20 May 1784. Witnessed by Roger Griswold, then an attorney, later Governor of Connecticut. Arnold was a sailor on the Continental frigate Alliance, commanded by Peter Landais, for two years, 'in which timesaid. Frigate made captures of several legal prizes from the then enemies of the United States - to a share in which prizes I was & am entitled, but have never received my share & proportion thereof...'. He assigns the forty shillings he feels due to him to Dudley Woodbridge. With a long typescript account of the record of the Alliance in the fight against the British, including a collision with the U.S. flagship Bonhomme Richard during a storm, as a m/ss, w.a.f. (1)

Tenant is to spend £200 “on making a good and sufficient addition of lime and stone to the said dwelling house”. Curious schedule attached listing specific items in the house: marble and stone chimney pieces, landscape panels, kitchen grate, “A Large Copper Boyler, and “A Large Marble Rowling Stone with an Iron frame in the Garden”.
