Ca. 1st-3rd century AD. An amphora shaped vessel with an ovoid body with a strand of glass pulled out at the bottom to form a tip and a tall tubular neck. Ca. 300 BC. An amphora-shaped pendant of a central wired shaft threaded with a piriform coral stone secured at the bottom with a small bead. To the top, a suspension ring, flanked by a pair of S-curved dolphins with fanned tails. This item is in wearable condition and it comes with a modern necklace cord. Ca. 2300-1650 BC. An attractive red slip ware amphora with a bulbous body, slim cylindrical neck, tubular rim, and two handles joining shoulder to neck. Amphorae such as this were used to hold and transport oil, wine, milk, or grain. During the Late Bronze Age, Cyprus was an important centre for the manufacture of works of art that show an amalgam of local and foreign influences. Stylistic features and iconographic elements borrowed from Egypt, the Near East, and the Aegean are often mixed together in Cypriot works. The pottery of the prehistoric Cypriots, especially that produced in the Early and Middle Bronze Ages, is exuberant and imaginative in shape and decoration. Ca. 100-300 AD. A rock crystal intaglio bearing an engraved gryllos motif, comprising a bust of left-facing Minerva wearing a plumed helmet, and two bearded men, one in the nape of her neck, the other on top of the head, set in a possibly later gold ring comprising D-shaped hoop with amphora-shaped shoulders. The gryllos (from the Greek for a caricature) is an elusive figure in Roman mythology, who is often depicted as a conjoined old and young man, as in this example, and is commonly associated with the occult. Bohemian Art Nouveau Jugendstil ceramic vase or amphora in the form of a woman with a loosely draped cloth flowing from her shoulders and swirling around her feet. In the swirling drapery at her feet are the faces of two woman. She holds aloft a large leaf in one hand and cradles a large flower in the other. With a matte glaze. Antique Bergman Style Bronze Figural Group Depicting A Teacher With Four Children. 41/4 x 5 inches. Stamped with (B) under the elephants trunk. An amphora jug/vase and a pair of slippers in the model both of which are typical for Franz Bergman bronzes and highlight it is numbered at the base of the stool in the front of the seated teacher.
A jardinière brooch set with diamonds, sapphires and rubies; the amphora-shaped vase with millgrain edge contains two trillion-cut diamonds and is encrusted with smaller circular-cut diamonds, with a baguette-cut rim, emanating with a bouquet composed of multi-shaped diamonds, carved sapphire in form of a flower bud, interspersed with rubies and a yellow diamond highlight, fitted with pin stem and roll-over catch, white metal testing as platinum, overall height 4.5 cm, total weight of item 10.1 grams.
