The one coloured plate is a little toned, slightly creased to left side of margin, right side slightly finger soiled, with small repair, crease to lower right corner through image but does not immediately show. Other monochrome plates largely good with just some edge indents, small corner bumps or slight creases.

He travelled overland with Liston's entourage, which included Gaetano Mercati who became Liston's draughtsman. Count Pietro Gamba (1801 - 1827) became acquainted with Lord Byron (1788-1824) through his sister, Countess Teresa Guiccioli, one of Byron's many mistresses on the continent. Gamba became a close companion and accompanied Byron as secretary and second in command on his second expedition to Greece. Ellis, a diplomat, accompanied Amherst to China in 1816, in capacity of third commissioner.
