WW2 Uniform Grouping of Sergeant R D Jenner Prince Alberts Own 11th Hussars 7th Armoured Division, superb example of the walking out type 1940 pattern battle dress tailored with open collar and internal shoulder pads. To each arm is rank stripes with RAC arm of service stripe and embroidered 7th Armoured division formation sign, evidence of where the 11th Hussars arm badge has once been present. Above the breast pocket are medal ribbons for 1939-45 star, Africa star with 8th army numeral, Italy star, France and Germany star, Defence medal and 1939-45 war medal. 1944 dated tailors label to the interior of the blouse with his name “SGT JENNER” inked, also WD stamped with date letter “Z” for 1945. Accompanied by a pair of matching walking out battle dress trousers stamped with War Department mark and date letter “M” for 1944. Included in the group is his original 11th Hussars pattern brown beret with maroon central band, cloth lining with leather sweatband. Broad arrow and 1942 date stamped to the lining of the beret. Accompanied by a photograph album containing his wartime pictures and newspaper cuttings covering his service through North Africa, Middle East, Italy, North West Europe and as occupation force in Spandau. Many very good clear images of fellow comrades, armoured cars, civilians, battle damage, etc. Amongst the album are other items of ephemera collected at the time including bank notes etc. Other sundry badges, insignia, paperwork and equipment items also included. Trooper, later Sergeant Ronald D Jenner was born in Bexleyheath, Kent. He was educated at the Boys Central School, once left he worked at Messrs A Hide and Son, Bexleyheath in the men’s outfitting department. He joined the 11th Hussars in 1942, a newspaper cutting in the album states that he along with the crew of his armoured car were the first to enter Tripoli and Tunis. His service spanned 1942 until demoded in 1946. He served in the Middle East, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany.

A massive cast white metal plate with a coronet above a rococo shield bearing the County Arms voided within an oval strap inscribed 'Royal Cornwall Militia or Duke of Cornwall's Rangers', flanked by oakleaf sprays. 3 fixing lugs. Together with three bronze badges c.1858 - 74 for ORs' 'pork pie' forage caps with variously worded title-scrolls; a brass glengarry-badge c. 1874 - 81 with coronet above the County Arms and Motto within an oval strap inscribed 'Royal Cornwall Rangers'; a badge of identical pattern in white metal; and sundry minor items.(Lot) Note: The 38th or Duke of Cornwall's Rangers, as they are described in the 1861 Army List, or Royal Cornwall Rangers Militia, as in the 1883 Army List, became the 3rd (Militia) Battalion of the DCLI in the Cardwell reorganisation of 1881. The Prince of Wales had been the regiment's Honorary Colonel since 1875.
