Various army related and other ephemera, early 20thC black and white army and soldier photograph showing various soldiers and family members, 15cm x 20cm, a further black and white photograph of soldiers in trucks before a sign marked Grey Estate Freehold Lease, further soldier pictures, copper aeroplane plaque, other prints, etc. (a quantity).
Regimentally Marked British Issue American P17 Bayonet by Remington, stamped to the top pommel “5 S S R” (5th South Staffordshire Regiment?) and “265”. Two piece wooden grips. Housed in its original leather scabbard with steel mounts. Brown leather frog attached to the scabbard. Single edged blade with fuller to the back edge. British army acceptance stamps to the forte and other side of the blade stamped “1913 9 16” and with Remington makers mark. Remains in generally good condition.
Good Japanese WW2 Army Officers Sword Katana, in Shingunto mounts, blade 64cms signed and dated (see picture) and struck with the Seki arsenal mark, choji gunome hamon and fair polish lightly stained by grease, both black lacquered saya and the shin gunto tsuka retain their original leather combat covers. Overall length 95cms. Good untouched condition. Brought back from WW2 by Lieut. Cdr. C. A. A. Rayner, Fleet Air Arm.
Corps of Transport & Army Service Corps Egypt & Sudan, Boer War Medal Group of Three, consisting of undated reverse Egypt medal with single clasp The Nile 1884-85 awarded to “5263 PTE J J SMART 9TH CO C&T C”, Queens South Africa medal with six clasps Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Transvaal, Wittebergen and South Africa 1901 awarded (QSA named to ASC) and Khedives 1884-6 bronze star un-named as issued. Medals are accompanied by his original discharge documents. John Joseph Smart was born in Shoreditch, Middlesex. He served with the Corps of Transport later Army Service Corps during the Egypt campaign and then in South Africa during the Boer War. A butcherer by trade. He was discharged in Aldershot in May 1901 and he settled in Ipswich.

Grouping of British Military Uniform, consisting of WW2 Royal Artillery officers four pocket service dress tunic and trousers, red battery flashes to the shoulder straps and metal rank insignia for Colonel rank. Bronze collar badges and green lanyard. Brass Royal Artillery tunic buttons to the front, shoulders and pockets; Officers four pocket service dress tunic for a Brigadier with medal ribbons above breast pocket for the MBE, Military Cross, WW1 service, WW2 North Africa and Italy service and an American award. Red gorget collar patches and brass tunic buttons. Name label to the inside collar but details are not clear; 1949 pattern battle dress blouse for a Captain in the Royal Marines, with cash tape Royal Marines shoulder titles and medal ribbons to breast including the Military Cross. Three rank pips to the shoulder boards. 1953 dated size label to the inside; Fine quality pair of WW2 period British Army officers breeches with name label for “H J Salt Esq R.A.S.C”. WW2 German Tunic Medal Ribbon Bars, consisting of five piece bar for the Imperial Iron Cross 2nd class, 1914-18 honour cross with swords, NSDAP 25 year faithful service cross, Red Cross / Social Welfare medal and 1st October medal; Three piece bar for the Iron Cross 2nd class (Third Reich), 13th March medal and West Wall medal; Two piece bar for Iron Cross 2nd class (Third Reich) and Army Long Service medal; three single medal ribbon bars for Iron Cross 2nd class (Third Reich), 1st October medal with bar and Imperial button hole ribbon for Iron Cross 2nd class and Black Wound badge. Also accompanied by a post WW2 tunic ribbon bar with WW2 Iron Cross, War Service cross, Eastern Front and Bundeswehr decoration. All with fittings to the reverse. (7 items)
53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot Victorian OR's shako plate circa 1869-78. A good die-stamped brass example. Within a crowned laurel wreath the Garter, the seeded centre pierced with stencilled numerals '53'. Two pinched loops to reverse. Polished and lacquered. GC Following Cardwell's reforms of the Army, 53rd became 1st Bn King's Light Infantry on 1st July 1881, later KSLI.
Indian Army. 32nd Sikh Pioneers pagri badge circa 1903-22. A fine large British made die-stamped white metal. Sikh quoit inscribed ' XXXII Sikh Pioneers' surmounted by a crown resting on crossed axes and resting on a tri-part scroll inscribed 'Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam'. Stout pagri pin to reverse. Indian Army. Calcutta Scottish Officer's silver glengarry badge. A fine scarce silver plated example by Hamilton & Co, Calcutta. Crowned Saltire bearing Arms of Calcutta, resting on a thistle spray with bi-part scroll inscribed 'Calcutta Scottish'. Two loops to reverse. VGC (see Cox 2724 for similar example) Formed as Calcutta Scottish Volunteers on 1st August 1911 becoming 44th Calcutta Scottish on 1st April 1917 and Calcutta Scottish 14th October 1920.
58th (Rutlandshire) Regiment of Foot OR's glengarry badge circa 1874-81. A fine die-stamped brass example. Strap inscribed 'Montis Insignia Calpe' surmounted by a castle and Key; '58' to voided centre. Brass loops North and South. VGC (KK 519) Became 2nd Bn. Northamptonshire Regt. in 1881. Indian Army. 17th Bombay Infantry pre 1903 Officer's waist belt clasp, A fine silver and gilt example with matching numbers to both halves. Silver circlet 'Bombay Infantry', seeded gilt centre with silver '17'. Large universal ends. GC Redesignated 117th Mahrattas in the 1903 Kitchener reforms.

Circlet comprising a laurel wreath, burnished gilt centre mounted with silver elephant on 'Assaye' scroll surmounted by scroll inscribed '23rd September 1803'. Universal pattern rococo belt loops. Indian Army 20th Regiment of Madras Native Infantry Victorian head-dress badge. A good die-stamped brass British made example. Resting in laurel sprays, three flags on scroll 'XX Regiment M.N.I.' flanked by scrolls 'Sholinghur' and 'Seringapatam'. Two loops to reverse. VGC 1885 became 20th Madras Infantry and 1903 became 80th Carnatic Infantry. 1922 disbanded
Army Air Corps WW2 Officer's 1941/1942 Birmingham hallmarked silver beret badge. A good die-cast example by JRG&S (JR Gaunt & Sons). Crowned laurel wreath; voided centre bearing eagle atop pierced 'AAC' scroll, its wings extending over and beyond the wreath. Three stout loops to reverse replaced by brooch pin. VGC 1941 Birmingham date letter R did not change until June 1942.
7th Royal Fusiliers OR's glengarry badge. circa 1874-81 A brass example. Flaming grenade, the ball bearing Crowned Garter'; pierced '7' to centre. To reverse, copper loops North and South. Imperial crowned strap 'Carnatic Mysore' resting on tripart scroll 'China Assaye Nagpore' with China Dragon below. To the centre of the strap the Elephant over '2 MI'. Stout pin to reverse. VGC Became 62 Punjabis in 1903 and 1st Bn. Punjab Regt. in 1922.

Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the centre with silver 'AVD' cypher on lightly gilded backing (more usually black enamel). Three replacement loops to reverse. Indian Army. 3rd Bengal Infantry pre 1903 head-dress badge. A good die-stamped British made example. Within laurel sprays, an Imperial Crowned circlet inscribed 'Bengal Infantry'; III to voided centre. Beneath the laurel, a scroll 'Bhurtpore' with another below 'Afghanistan 1879-80'. Two loops to reverse. VGC 3rd Bengal Infantry redesignated 3rd Brahmans in 1903 and disbanded after the Great War.

GC In answer to Kitchener's call 15th (Service) Bn (1st Leeds) West Yorkshire raised September 1914; 17th (Service) Bn (2nd Leeds) raised December 1914.

To the centre a pierced circlet inscribed 'In this sign, conquer' on a blue enamel ground. Original stout pin to reverse which is impressed 'P'. VGC Worn by visiting clergy when called to minister at garrisons and camps not having their own resident RAChD chaplain.
