A William Moorcroft- Rare salt glaze Claremont dish form bowl Circa 1930. This rare almost mustard coloured bowl with a salt glaze has been beautifully decorated with crisp clear toadstools and has been perfectly fired. Signed and impressed marks to base 25cm diameter 6cm tall. Born in Burslem, Staffordshire, he studied art at Burslem then in London and Paris, then around 1896, he experimented with his own pottery designs working for James Macintyre & Co. Moorcroft produced Aurelian Ware, which he partly decorated with transfers and partly painted by hand. He developed highly lustred glazes and used oriental shapes and decorations. By the age of 24, Moorcroft and his pottery began making its mark in the world of British ceramics. Moorcroft developed his famous Florian Ware, with heavy slip and translucent glaze to produce brilliance of colour and he personalised each piece of pottery produced with his own signature or initials. At the time, some of Moorcroft’s techniques became closely guarded secrets. In 1904 Moorcroft won a gold medal at the St Louis International Exhibition and gold at the Brussels Exhibition, followed by further accolades, medals and commendations. By 1913 an inevitable split occurred with Moorcroft from James McIntyre’s name and reputation. He set up his own factory at Cobridge with staff from the McIntyre pottery studio – and the factory in Sandbach Road is still where Moorcroft pottery is made today. P

Kevin T Kelly - American Contemporary Artist B.1960 A Limited Edition Large scale Pop art Poster. "War Bonds" Issued by Rosenstiels London 97/100 with Certificate that is numbered to match the print carrying the embossed stamp signed by the artist. Kelly’s work is decidedly “Neo-Pop” or “Post-Pop”. Infused with a postmodern sensibility, contemporaneous subject matter, and executed in what the artist refers to as a “hyper-chromatic” palette. War bonds are debt securities issued by governments to finance military operations in times of war, but this title suggests the bonds that are made between people during wartime. In many of his images depicting fighter aireraft the background acts as a metaphor to amplify the imagery in the foreground. The fireball could suggest either flirtatious attraction or detection of betrayal between the couple. Has the P-51 Mustang pilot just destroyed his target or is he narrowly making an escape? Is the man in the foreground the pilot? Is the woman? Or are they sipping champagne at a gala completely unaware their country is at war in a far-off land? Approx Size 152cm x 78cm (there may be minor creasing and/or small tear to outside edge border though general handling) P

Paul Daschel for Amphora Art Nouveau shoulder vase with maiden, spiders Webb and a central moth motif. Circa 1900 Impressed monogram to the side 19cm high. Amphora Pottery - RStK – Riessner, Stellmacher and Kessel Alfred Stellmacher founded his first porcelain factory in Turn in 1876. The factory produced porcelain flowers which surpassed French pieces for quality. During the 1870’s, Stellmacher developed a new ceramic material which became known as ivory porcelain due to its soft yellowish shade and matte finish. The new material allowed the ceramist to create more complex modeling and detailing of shapes and applied designs. Stellmacher’s factory broadened production from flowers to decorative ceramic pieces in the Orientalism and Neo-Baroque styles. Neo-Baroque forms allowed greater innovations in design with handles shaped like monsters and pierced or waved bases and rims. At the Paris World Exhibition in 1889, Stellmacher received the Gold Medal, and he attained his greatest success at the end of the 19th century. In 1892, the Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel (RStK) porcelain factory started production in Turn. Alfred Stellmacher helped form the new company. All the owners were related to Alfred. Karl and Hans Riessner and Rudolf Kessel were his son-in- laws and Eduard Stellmacher was his son. Karl Riessner, who attended the Art Academy in Prague handled finances, Hans Riessner, who attended the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts the same time as Gustav Klimt, was technical director, and Rudolf Kessel handled trading issues. Eduard Stellmacher, who attended the Arts and Crafts Academy in Dresden, was the artistic director. Eduard’s brother-in- law and classmate from the Arts and Crafts Academy in Dresden, Paul Dachsel, was also a creative designer for Amphora. The new company was known as Amphora I. P
