Superbly preserved 1602, just 3,349 miles in 49 years. BMW launched its 'Neue Klasse' ('New Class') range of compact saloons and coupés in 1962 and it is no exaggeration to say that they were the cars that saved the company. Up to that point they had been best known for making beautifully engineered but incredibly complex and expensive machines that nobody outside of Germany could either afford or understand. With its crisp, modernist styling, brilliant chassis dynamics and superb engineering, the Neue Klasse changed all that at a stroke and established BMW as a truly international brand. Although it was the 'pocket rocket' 2-litre 2002 that everyone raved about, the smaller 1600-2 and 1500-2 were arguably better cars, being better balanced and cheaper to own and run. An economy version of the 2002, the 1600-2 was launched at the Geneva Auto Show in March 1966 and was sold through 1975, with its name simplified to 1602 in 1971. With 85bhp from its M10 engine, the 1602 won friends for its excellent dynamics and brilliant handling. Now, this really is special. Purchased on 1st January 1975 from Normand (Bromley) Ltd by Mr M J Ledger, finished in Schwarz (086) with a cream leather and cord interior, this gleaming BMW 1602 was to remain in his possession until it became the property of its second owner on 11th May 2016. He, in turn, added it to his Collection using it only occasionally until it was purchased by our vendor in 2019 to add to his Collection of desirable classics. Still in remarkably original condition, this delightful little 'Beemer' has covered a total of 3,349 miles since New Years Day 49 years ago.The car's history file contains the full book pack, original service book, sales brochure, Haynes Manual and copy of the original V5. A Normand (Bromley) Ltd tax disc and leather key ring will also be found in their original paper bag! It's fortunate for the rest of us that there are people who will buy a new car, use it lightly on dry days, return it to their garage and strive consistently over the years to keep the car in, as close as possible, the condition in which it arrived and we would guess that this little BMW has belonged to three of those. An exceptional find and worthy of a place in any Collection.Specification Make: BMW Model: 1602 Year: 1975 Chassis Number: 3560545 Registration Number: GMY 174N Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 3560545 Odometer Reading: 3349 Miles Make: Interior Colour: Cream leatherClick here for more details and images

In terms of driver assistance systems there are rear parking sensors, a rear view camera and optional adaptive cruise control. In terms of performance, the JCW is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged engine, delivering approximately 228bhp allowing 0-62mph in 6.1-6.3 seconds, prioritizing the driving experience without sacrificing everyday usability. The 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission allows for quick gear changes, whilst simultaneously suiting city driving. On the verge of modern classic status, this rare sporting Coupé is well optioned for the sporting commuter and engineered for the enthusiast. Offered without reserve. Launched within a rather niche mid-range sporting coupe market in 2005, the E86 BMW Z4 Coupé may have had the pedigree to see off the Japanese competition and offered more practicality and crucially, sharper styling than its closest rival, the Audi TT, still remained a rare car on British roads. The two-door design incorporated a useful hatchback into the boot and added torsional rigidity, benefiting both handling and ride. The double-bubble roof also gave more headroom than a Z4 Roadster with the roof up, making the Coupé the car of choice for keen and/or tall drivers. A 3-litre petrol engine came with the option of a 5 or 6-speed manual gearbox, a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed SMG-II automated manual. The Z4 Coupe’s rear-wheel drive chassis was suspended by Macpherson struts on the front and multi-link suspension on the rear, which meant the Z4's handling was exceptional, something weight-saving measures such as aluminium bonnet and suspension components contribute to. The Z4M aside, the Coupé's 3-litre, straight-six, 265bhp, 232lb/ft engine produced enough thrust to see it pass 62mph in 5.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155mph.Priced at the upper end of the Noughties sporting coupé market, most buyers opted for the M model or the roadster version, usually in conversative colours, which leads us nicely to this rare 6-speed manual 3.0Si Sport Coupé, finished in Phoenix Yellow, with a two-tone Sport interior, 3-spoke M-Sport steering wheel and very well optioned from new.Offered without Reserve, it is the ideal modern classic for a spirited daily commute with automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, heated memory seats and air conditioning or for joy filled B-road weekend motoring thanks to the gearbox’s sport button.Presented to auction with an advisory free MOT certificate valid until 29th September 2025, two keys, the stamped service book and an odometer reading of 95,088 at the time of cataloguing. Serviced by Lancaster BMW of Milton Keynes less than 10,000 miles ago, this car has a certain look about it, sitting four-square, as it does on 10-spoke twin-blade alloy wheels, with the rather funky paintwork for its era setting it apart.Specification Make: BMW Model: Z4 COUPÉ E86 Year: 2008 Chassis Number: WBADU52010LF68904 Registration Number: YA57 ARO Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 74153857 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 95088 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
An exceptional example offered from long term ownership, with matching hardtop and just 12,529 miles from new. Penned by Henrik Fisker, the BMW Z8 was initially a concept styling exercise to evoke and pay homage to the stunning BMW 507 produced in the late 1950s. Due to the sensation it caused at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show, BMW decided to go into production and production ran from 1999 to 2003 for a total run of 5,703 cars with approximately half going to the USA, the rest to continental Europe and fewer than 150 cars supplied to the UK.An engineering indulgence by BMW, it featured an aluminium space frame body and the famous 5-litre DOHC 32-valve V8 engine produced 400bhp, situated behind the line of the front axle, giving the Z8 virtually perfect 50/50 weight distribution and enabling it to out-perform its contemporary benchmark rivals in all departments. The contemporaneous Ferrari 360 Modena was left inadequate in terms of performance, handling and braking. Road tests by period magazines frequently better the quoted 0-60mph times supplied by BMW and many achieved figures of c.four seconds. Most remarkable was its pure driving pleasure and its effortless 'Grand Tourer' capabilities. BMW's mantra of 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' was certainly appropriate when it came to the Z8.Having been a mainstay of the Bond series for four decades, Desmond Llewelyn retired as 'Q' in the 1999 film The World is Not Enough where, in his poignant final scene, he issued Piers Brosnan’s James Bond with a BMW Z8. Whilst entering the James Bond Car Hall of Fame, helped somewhat with filling the order books, it's universally agreed that it is the Z8’s capability as a modern supercar that was responsible for its success. Delivered only in left-hand drive, fewer than 150 cars were supplied new to the UK.The Rydale/Rybrook name has been associated as a family business with strong BMW connections from 1972 until 2024 and over the years, the company has continually expanded through various Midlands-based franchise dealerships, including Oldbury, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Evesham, Wolverhampton and Warwick. This year, the company was sold and is now owned by the Sytner Group under the chairmanship of American petrolhead, Roger Penske. This BMW Z8 was acquired in 2005 by the dealership group as a significant and interesting milestone in the development of BMW. Its unique design and features as an early convertible BMW high-performance sports car, including the combination of the incredible engine from the M5, coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox, made this rare and exciting car an icon of the marque. Its looks evolved from the BMW 503/507 Series of the 1950s which, when finished in the classic colour combination of Titanium Silver with red leather upholstery, evoke a period style that set the trend for many future BMW sports cars to follow. It has been used for showroom display and occasional exhibitions and parades, enjoying a cosseted indoor life with annual maintenance and MOTs carried out and a minimal annual mileage covered. The total indicated mileage at time of cataloguing of 12,529 today can be warranted by the MOT and service history. It's a UK-supplied car from new, has been enjoyed by just two owners and comes complete with a factory hardtop and original book pack.A rare and very exciting opportunity today and we encourage close inspection at our sale at the 2024 NEC Classic Motor Show.Specification Make: BMW Model: Z8 Year: 2000 Chassis Number: WBAEJ110X0AF77815 Registration Number: X343 OSO Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 60562320 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 12529 Miles Make: Only LHD Interior Colour: Black/Red Nappa LeatherClick here for more details and images
Very well cared for Z4M Roadster in a striking colour combination with less than 15,000 miles from new. The BMW Z4 was introduced in 2002 and was styled by BMW's Danish designer Anders Warming. The car had its own distinctive appeal that helped it take on the Porsche Boxster directly, where the earlier Z3 had always trailed in the Porsche's wake. Thanks to a spread of engines and dose of practicality, the Z4 also managed to challenge the Mercedes SLK and Audi TT to be a very competent all-round Roadster. They were all fully built at BMW USA's South Carolina plant with the exception of the Z4M, launched in 2006, which was assembled in Carolina using engines and transmissions from BMW's 'M' Division in Germany. The essence of any 'M' car is always the powertrain really and the heart of the Z4M is the special grey cast iron block 3.2-litre straight-six (iron was used iron for extra rigidity at high rpm). Designated S54, it's the last in the M50 line of engines and benefited from all the latest technology, including individual 'fly by wire' throttle bodies and dual variable cam timing (VANOS in BMW-speak) which all helped it to pump out 338bhp at 7,900rpm and 269lb/ft of torque at 4,900rpm, with an 8,000rpm red line. All these 'Pferde' are directed towards the back wheels through a Getrag 'Type H' 6-speed. Engine management, however, is specific to the Z4M: the Siemens MSS70 with higher processing power (64 million calculations per second) than the MSS54 (25 million CPS) in the M3. Other performance parts borrowed from the M3 include the CSL's compound (aluminium hubs, stainless steel pins, cross drilled iron floating rotors) brakes and most of the M3's suspension components. Other changes include a hydraulic steering setup which provides better feel than the electric system in standard Z4 models. This fabulous 2009 Roadster was originally supplied by BMW (UK) Thorn in Yorkshire, finished in Black Sapphire Metallic with a striking Imola Red Nappa leather interior. It was later purchased in 2011 from Hereford BMW for £25,811 as an investment, however our vendor has sadly passed away with the car subsequently being offered to a family member who has no real interest in it, consequently this desirable Z4M is now available on the open market. It's accompanied by its original book pack containing the relevant service/ handbooks/ manuals etc. and the current MOT (no advisories) is valid until June 2025. There is one stamp in the book by Cotswold Hereford BMW (Sept 2017) at 11,416 miles and an invoice dated May 2022 for £701.61 for general works. The indicated mileage was 14,921 at the time of cataloguing and the car will be detailed professionally to a showroom standard ready prior to our sale and will benefit from a fresh oil service. This very low-mileage Z4M is certainly of collector quality and represents an excellent opportunity to own one of these underrated Z cars for a sensible outlay. A superbly presented, low-mileage example of the last of the line collectible Minis; one for the true enthusiast and avid fan. The best available? Most probably. By 1986, Austin Rover was reformed as the slimmer, more premium-orientated Rover Group and it was odds-on that the Mini would be dropped from the line-up thanks to healthy sales of the Metro. However, it wasn’t and the Mini was marketed as a stand-alone brand, being kept alive with a number of special editions and clever advertising slogans, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 1989.The Mini was lightly revised in 1992 so that the 1,275cc engine could be fitted on the production line, creating the Mk 6 Series – generally regarded as the first of the ‘Rover Minis’, with the Cooper becoming a regular production model. It was well-received and gave the Mini a stay of execution, with the 998cc A-Series engine being gradually phased out in favour of the Cooper’s 1,275cc fuel-injected unit throughout the range. When the final Mk 7 version of the classic Mini appeared in 1996, total production had declined to a low of 16,000 units a year. The Mini built by BMW-controlled Rover was a very different car under the skin to its predecessor and now came with a long list of optional extras. The heavily revised post-1996 Mini now sat on 13" wheels and the car’s distinctive side-mounted radiator had been replaced with a more conveniently located front-mounted unit that allowed the car to meet new limits on drive-by noise levels. A better heater and a pair of airbags featured whilst higher gearing provided a more relaxing drive and by now, all Minis were fitted with a 63bhp, twin-point, fuel-injected, 1,275cc A-Series engine. The end for the classic Mini finally came on 4th October 2000, when the last car rolled of the production line at Longbridge to the soundtrack of the film The Italian Job and thunderous applause from the gathered crowd of workers, management and journalists. And now, 24 years on, a 1990s Mini makes a tempting classic proposition.Due to the immense popularity of the Sports Pack, an option on 1997-2000 Minis, Rover decided to release a final standalone model with it fitted as standard. The ‘Classic Cooper Sport’ was born and became the flagship of the Mini range. The traditional Old English White roof and bonnet stripes were removed in favour of the more modern Platinum Silver. The Walnut dashboard was replaced with an alloy version, previously an optional extra on 1997-2000 models. The alloy interior pack (including window winders, door pulls and door handles) was now fitted as standard. Finally, the 'Cooper' logo centre caps were replaced with green 'Mini' ones, as were the logos on the steering wheels.Just 2,091 right-hand drive Classic Cooper Sports were made from the last batch of production, each with the unique SAXXNP chassis number and today, these are highly sought after and rare cars with just 587 known to the Register. The car presented here is a 2000 Mini Classic Cooper Sport 2000 in Solar Red and silver paintwork, representing the pinnacle of the late Rover Mini incarnations, a firm must-have for any classic Mini fan or collector. With just under 8,000 miles covered and in a rarely seen state of preservation, this single owner from new example is of collector quality and needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.Specification Make: ROVER Model: MINI CLASSIC COOPER SPORT 2000 Year: 2000 Chassis Number: SAXXNPAZE1D186719 Registration Number: X339 YPR Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 12A2LK70382096 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 7967 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
A much coveted example offered from long term ownership having covered just 3,361 miles from new - an exciting opportunity! Of all the BMW 'Z' cars, the 'Zukunft' tag is arguably most fittingly applied to the Z1, a car that even now, 35 years after it first went on sale, looks fresh and modern. The Z1 used a skeletal frame on which the body panels were mounted, making it incredibly stiff, banishing scuttle shake and endowing the car with superb handling. The body panels were made of plastic, mounted on a substructure of hot-dipped galvanised pressed steel and the seams were continuously zinc welded, adding 25% to body stiffness. The side panels and doors were made from General Electric's 'Xenoy' injection-cast thermoplastic, the bonnet and boot lid were glass reinforced plastic and the whole body was painted in a special flexible lacquer.'State of the Art' thinking was evident in every aspect of the car's design. Those magnificent doors were operated by toothed belts which lowered both the window and door at the touch of a button. The Z1 used the innovative 'Z-axle' suspension set-up at the rear and also featured some clever aerodynamics, including creating a high-pressure zone ahead of the wheels to induce downforce whilst the aerofoil-shaped rear silencer helped to decrease turbulence and lift. The engine is one of BMW's finest in the form of the M20 B25 2,494cc straight-six taken from the E30 325i. The Z1 is special in every sense of the word - it's special to look at, to sit in and to drive and importantly, as the years have passed, it has started to become more appreciated and values have started to climb. The Rydale/Rybrook name has been associated as a family business with strong BMW connections from 1972 until 2024 and over the years, the company has continually expanded through various Midlands-based franchise dealerships, including Oldbury, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Evesham, Wolverhampton and Warwick. This year, the company was sold and is now owned by the Sytner Group under the chairmanship of American petrolhead, Roger Penske. This BMW Z1 was acquired in the early 2000s by the dealership group as a significant and interesting milestone in the development of BMW. Its innovative design and unique features like the drop down doors, made the rare car an icon of the marque. Today, it has covered just 3,361 miles, remaining mostly on display in dealerships and at BMW-related shows and exhibitions, but always stored indoors and regularly serviced and sent for an annual MOT. Accordingly, the mileage can be warranted as genuine and the car has had only two owners from new (although the V5C has been changed as the company name changed). This is a pristine example of the model, featuring that oh-so-smooth 2.5-litre straight-six coupled to a manual gearbox, that remains one of the ‘ultimate driving machines’ of the era.Specification Make: BMW Model: Z1 Year: 1989 Chassis Number: WBABA91040AL00222 Registration Number: EBZ 1567 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 60562320 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 3361 Miles Make: Only LHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
One of only 500 UK-supplied, right-hand drive examples, this Taiga Green CSL was subject to an impressive restoration some years ago with only light use since. The 3.0 CSL is a lightweight, performance-oriented version of the standard 3.0 CS/3.0 CSi Coupé. Utilising the E9 platform, the 3.0 CSL was unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show and was introduced in May 1972 as an homologation model for the German Touring Car Championship developed by a separate division within BMW AG, a division that would later become BMW Motorsport GmbH. The CSL achieved some great results, with wins at Le Mans in the touring car class in 1973 and 1974, the IMSA GT Championship in 1975 and winning the European Touring Car Championships every year from 1973 to 1979 (apart from a minor blip in 1974). The 'L' in the designation meant leicht (light), unlike in other BMW designations, where it meant lang (long).A total of 1,096 CSLs were built, with just 500 of these being imported into the UK. The great majority of UK cars had the 'City Package' option fitted, designed to make the 3.0 CSL more usable as a daily driver. These versions retained the standard interior trim, negating the total weight saving somewhat, but the other benefits were retained, including aero kit, thinner gauge steel and aluminium parts. Early CSLs, produced in late 1971 and early 1972, utilised the standard 2,985cc M30 inline-six engine with twin carburettors and were only offered in left-hand drive. They were replaced by a fuel-injected model displacing 3,003cc available in right-hand drive during late 1972 and early 1973. Fuel-injected CSLs with the 3-litre motor have VINs that run from 2275001 through 2275429 (left-hand drive version) and 2285-001 through 2285-500 (right-hand drive UK cars). On offer here, #2285-236 is a fine example of these 3,003cc UK, right-hand drive cars and was sold new in the UK on 21st March 1973. In 2011, it was subject to a full bare-metal restoration and painted in the period correct colour of Taiga Green by 355 Automobile Restorations International whilst at the same time, the engine, gearbox and other mechanicals were rebuilt by Ferrari Specialists SMDG. The comprehensive history file contains a record of the rebuild and earlier receipts form BMW specialist Jaymic, BMW Guildford and Munich Spares. The interior remains in great condition having been retrimmed and the signature wood veneer restored to a high level. It was purchased by our vendor in 2017 and has been used sparingly since. Recent work for a new MOT by marque specialists Everything M3s and Rabsport Engineering has included new tyres, wheel bearing adjustment, front caliper rebuilds and a new battery. This lovely, stylish BMW 3.0 CSL Coupé in glorious Taiga Green represents a fine example of the car that defined Touring Cars in the 1970s and 50 years later, still has a presence that few cars can match.Specification Make: BMW Model: 3.0 CSL Year: 1973 Chassis Number: 2285236 Registration Number: JJU 404L Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 2285236 Make: Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images
Saleroom Notice - Please note this vehicle has an automatic gearbox, not a manual one as erroneously catalogued Offered without Reserve from The Recreation Collection. Converted in 2016 by Nubodi Automotive using a Tribute Automotive Kalifornia body kit and accessories and later registered as such. The Recreation Collection was assembled by a gentleman, now deceased, who had a passion for cars, owning at one stage some 38 vehicles. A particular enthusiasm of his was for replicas of the rarest and therefore most expensive examples. Judging by the receipts on file and the high prices paid in period, he could’ve bought at least one real example for the price he paid for the others! These are special cars and worthy of serious consideration, offered, tantalisingly as they are without Reserve.A rarely seen convertible version of the 250 SWB, based on a 2002 BMW Z3 and professionally converted by Nubody Automative from a bespoke kit. Successfully registered with the DVLA in 2017 as a Tribute Kalifornia ZR74, as evidenced by the detailed application form submitted by Nubody and the invoices from Tribute Automotive for the parts. Historic receipts, and a further bill from 2019 show additional expenditure for accessories and other works.Presented to auction with historic MOT certificates, the most recent of which is valid until September 2025 conducted at 125,165 miles. UK-supplied, right-hand drive E46 M3 in Titanium Silver, 6-speed manual gearbox and just over 34,000 miles. BMW’s third-generation M3, the E46, took the hearts of real sports car fans by storm when it was launched in 2000. With a lightweight construction and its high-revving, in-line six-cylinder engine, it embodied, for many, a return to the virtues of the legendary first-generation cars, the E30. Priced on a par with the Porsche Boxster S, the E46 M3 was streets ahead in performance, challenging the much pricier 911 and Audi RS4. Stiffened, wider-tracked with big wheel arches and a massive front spoiler, it packed a 343bhp 3.2-litre ‘S54’ straight-six engine substantially re-engineered by the 'M' division. All cars were officially limited to 155mph, although Autocar’s test model happily topped 170mph.The pre-delivery inspection for this manual-gearbox Titanium Silver Metallic M3 was carried out by BMW main dealer, Wellways of Bath, on 27th December 2001 for delivery to its first owner in the New Year 2002 and consequently it's regarded as a 2002 model. The service book contains a further seven stamps, corroborating the remarkably low mileage of just over 34,000 and the current MOT is valid until June 2025.Probably the last of the true analogue M3s with the harmonious S54 3.2 engines, these high quality build Coupés can only appreciate and still represent incredible value as a true 175mph super handling offering from Bavaria.Specification Make: BMW Model: M3 Year: 2002 Chassis Number: WBSBL920X0JR01610 Registration Number: TBA Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 60962671 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 34164 Miles Interior Colour: Titanium SilverClick here for more details and images
Now with something of a 'cult-following', these supremely well engineered 'super-saloons' are highly coveted. From long and dedicated ownership, this is very fine example. The legendary Lotus Carlton is the kind of car that comes along once in a generation. At a time when really fast four-door saloons were the preserve of BMW and Mercedes, this Vauxhall (the Opel-badged LHD derivative was the Lotus Omega) derived 'super-saloon' arrived on the scene, demolishing the opposition. Oddly, it wasn't its huge performance or masculine good looks that created the most fuss, but the fact that the Daily Mail was so outraged by its stated top speed of 176mph that it declared it too fast for British roads. Of course, the Lotus Carlton - or Type 104 to Lotus aficionados - was nothing of the sort and although it shared its major components with a mainstream executive car, its level of development across every aspect of automotive dynamics had resulted in a truly special performance car.Production of the Lotus Carlton began in 1990, four years after the original Carlton/Omega went on sale. Vauxhall/Opel had hoped to build 1,100 cars in total, but owing to the recession of the early 1990s, the Lotus Carlton, priced at £48,000, was not selling as well as anticipated, and production at Lotus was halted in December 1992. Only 950 cars were completed: 320 Carltons and 630 Omegas, 150 short of the original target. It was powered by a twin-turbo version of the venerable straight-six used in the range-topping Senator, which developed a remarkable 377bhp. To achieve that figure, Lotus had put a lot of work into the 3.6-litre power unit, uprating and strengthening the bottom end, porting the 24-valve cylinder head (from the Carlton GSI), and fitting forged 'slipper' pistons made by MAHLE atop new Lotus-designed connecting rods tied to a counterweighted, forged steel crankshaft. The gearbox was the same 6-speed used in the Corvette ZR-1, the only transmission in GM's parts bin, capable of handling the car's monster torque. AP 'Group C' derived brakes - 4-pot calipers with 330mm ventilated discs at the front and 2-pot at the rear - sat behind specially developed Goodyear tyres. Performance was brisk, to say the least. 0-60mph came up in five seconds, 0-100mph was dispatched in 11.1 seconds and in 1992, Autocar magazine recorded a time of 17 seconds for their 0-100-0 challenge, second best behind an F40, however it's the car's maximum speed of 176mph that will always be quoted by its fans. The car presented here is a 1993 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton #809 (denoted by a unique plaque) of the 950 produced, first registered on 8th March 1993, making it late-production example. According to our vendor, who acquired the car in May 2011 (covering only c4.000 miles since then), some of the car’s early life involved a ten-year stint in storage due to it not being required as a daily-driver. Our vendor, an engineer and Lotus Carlton aficionado, has overseen a significant amount of work to the car, including an engine-out rebuild, a new clutch, timing chain, valve guides, water pump, injectors, whilst the twin turbo unit was overhauled. It also benefits from a new fuel tank and stainless-steel exhaust.Likewise, the exterior has seen the body-kit professionally removed and painted, whilst the bonnet has also been painted to tidy up the stone chips. The interior, although still all original (Grundig in-car entertainment system as fitted to the later cars, rather than the earlier Blaupunkt system) does, in some minor places, look a little worn; the seats and headlining are in very good order though. The car is accompanied by its original model-specific book pack, original tool roll, two keys and its original OEM spec exhaust system.Reports do vary, but the usually reliable ones suggest there are only around 70 Lotus Carltons taxed in the UK – a rather exclusive club!'Sledgehammer' was the word often used to describe the performance of these saloons, but Vauxhall footnoted promotional content with the words 'Very few will be made, very few will understand or appreciate it fully'. More than 30 years later, it's fair to say that we do understand and with climbing values, it's undoubtedly fully appreciated.Specification Make: VAUXHALL Model: LOTUS CARLTON Year: 1993 Chassis Number: SCC000019N1232428 Registration Number: K781 APD Transmission: Manaul Engine Number: 30N60858 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 92500 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black leatherClick here for more details and images
Offered without Reserve from The Recreation Collection, this very pretty car has many period parts such as Borrani wire wheels and a £4,000 stainless steel exhaust system. These are special cars and worthy of serious consideration, offered, tantalisingly as they are, without Reserve. We understand that this fabulous right-hand drive tribute car was the dream of an Italian gentleman, a former Chairman of two Italian sports car clubs. Based on a UK-supplied 1997 BMW Z3 M Sport, itself a highly desirable car and one that is the identical size, wheel-to-wheel to the original, the recreation was a labour of love that offers the attention-gathering beauty and appeal of the original combined with the benefits of modern motoring technology and German engineering.Every item on the car, from the body panels to the seats, has either been bespoke manufactured or purchased from Ferrari or GTO Engineering. Original Ferrari parts include the indicator stalks, installed at a cost of €1,800, grille, window winders, door handles, badging, headlamps and rear view mirror. Even the ashtray is an original Ferrari item, bought from GTO Engineering for £400. To acquire one correct Nardi steering wheel as sported by the orignal, the owner actually had to buy four of them. The car runs on the original size Pirelli tyres, wrapped around an €8,000 set of Borrani wheels. The £4,000 stainless steel exhaust features a resonator box and sounds not dissimilar to a V12 on carburettors. To create the bumpers, the previous owner had a mould made and the bumpers were then cast in stainless steel, at a cost of £3,000. The engine is a 325bhp BMW M3 E36 unit. Beneath the period radio sits a speaker with a difference. Entirely in keeping with the original styling, this was made specially in Germany by Becker. It pulls down to reveal the air conditioning controls hidden behind. The original BMW Z3M sustained repairable damage on the 25th May 2000 and was subject to an insurance Category D marker. Given the car’s new lease of life in 2017, it was subsequently registered at the time as a Black California Spyder, we welcome close inspection of this special vehicle.Presented to auction with its V5C, historic bills, brochure and previous MOT Certificates, the most recent of which is valid until 24th September 2025.Specification Make: BMW Model: Z3 ROADSTER Year: 1997 Chassis Number: WBSCK91050LD20287 Registration Number: BPR 726A Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBA Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 1462 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images
