LETTER FROM THE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION LTD.TO J. MCGRORY OF CELTIC, re Thomas Murphy, discussing a complaint made from Saltcoats Victoria F.C., dated 25th March 1947, in a sheet with reply informing Mr. G.G. Graham the player had been fielded, along with a copy of the letter received by the Scottish Junior F.A. for reporting 'Celtic F.C. for having approached Thomas Murphy... and for playing him in a Reserve League match versus Kilmarnock F.C...' Pair of Prince of Wales 1969 Investiture chairs, by Remploy designed by Anthony Charles Robert Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, constructed from laminated olive ash stained vermillion red, the backs bearing gilt Prince of Wales feathers and his motto ICH DIEN (I serve) with red cushion seats, the underside of each seat bears a Prince of Wales feathers stamp and 1969, (2) 78cm high Together with two programs from the event. Re-upholstered by Mick Sheridan Upholstery using re-manufactured cloth from the original Welsh tweed mill that supplied to Remploy in 1969. During the re-upholstery work the original screws securing seat to frame were maintained to insure originality. The colour so often seen on these chairs today is a faded orange however these chairs represent how they would have originally appeared in the vermillion red tweed that was specially designed not to run and stain the guests clothes should there be a downpour! 4,000 of these chairs were produced for the Prince of Wale’s investiture in 1969. Lord Snowdon’s design was manufactured by disabled workers at the Remploy factory in Bridgend. Guests at the ceremony were invited to purchase their chairs after the event and for £12 received their chair flat packed Ikea style for them to reassemble.

Jak was one of the best known British newspaper cartoonists who mostly worked for the London Evening Standard.

East African Railways & Harbours cabside numberplate 9041. Ex Class 90 1Co-Co1 diesel electric built by English Electric and Vulcan Foundry in 1968 as works No 3836/D1222, in 1968. The loco was renumbered to 8741 when the 90 class were re designated to class 87. Rectangular cast brass in as removed condition measures 20in x 8.75in.
Worksplate GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY CO (re-engraved)MAKERS DONCASTER No 1499 1919 ex Gresley J51/2 0-6-0 T later Class J50/2. Numbered GNR 218, LNER 3218, 8917 and BR 68917 and lastly Departmental Number 12. Allocated to Ardsley, Hornsey and 36A Doncaster where it became the works shunter until May 1965. Scrapped later the same year at T. W. Ward Beighton, Sheffield. Oval engraved brass with 8917 and 3218 stamped into the back. Measures 12in x 7in.
~ A Mahogany Striking Table Clock, signed T.Humphreys, Barnard Castle, circa 1840, arched pediment, carved mounts to the front, side sound frets, bun feet, 8-inch convex printed dial, twin barrel movement with an anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 43.5cm high see illustration 07.06.19. Case is slightly faded in parts, case front with small cracks, back door with a chip and one vacant hole under the back door, dial has been re-painted to a high standard, dial with small scratches and crazing marks, movement is clean, movement in going order, with pendulum.

An Early 18th Century Walnut Longcase Clock, signed Roger Penton, circa 1710, later caddy pediment, pierced blind fret work panels, side viewing windows, well figured trunk door with moulded borders, re-built plinth, 12-1/4-inch square brass dial with a silvered chapter ring signed, matted dial centre with seconds dial and date aperture, crown and cherub spandrels, five latched pillars, anchor escapement, outside countwheel striking on a bell, 266cm high see illustration 06.06.19. Case with a later built caddy pediment, case needs restoration throughout, hood door with later hinges, wooden dial surround is later, hood with chips and cracks to veneers and some veneers are missing, trunk door with cracks to the top and bottom sides, half of the trunk door moulded edges are missing, plinth has been re-built, backboard is patched to the top and bottom sides, dial is dirty, movement with one dial foot not locating into the movement front plate, movement needs cleaning, with two weights and a pendulum.
An Aquamarine, Pearl and Ruby Necklace, with ruby and split pearl floral cluster alternating with various cut of aquamarine, to split pearl set scroll panels suspending a central pendant which comprises a heart shaped aquamarine, a seed pearl foliate section and a pear cut aquamarine, on a fine yellow trace link chain, chain length 40cm, drop length 3.3cm see illustration .. The necklace is in good condition. It fastens with a bolt ring catch. It has a panel attached which is stamped '15CT' and in our opinion it would test as gold. This item may have had some alteration/re-working. The settings to the reverse of the pearl clusters are not necessarily in keeping with early 20th century settings. 1 ruby is pinker than the others and may have been replaced - as you look at the necklace face on, it centres the cluster to the right hand side of the drop. A Pair of Edwardian Art Nouveau Silver Photograph Frames, Horton & Allday, Birmingham 1904, decorated with stylised foliage and whiplash motifs, oak back and easel strut, 17.5cm high (2). The marks are generally clear, though the maker's mark on one is partly obscured by a fixing pin. Each frame is further stamped with an indistinct registration number. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a minor softening to the high points. There is some cracking and staining to the wood back. The back of one has been re-drilled and each have replacement metal hardware fitted on the reverse.
An Edwardian Scottish Silver Tankard of William and Mary Style, Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh 1904, plain with scroll thumbpiece, the S shaped handle with heart terminal, the flat cover engraved with a crest of a hand holding a lance and motto scroll for Younger, the front with presentation inscription Harry George Younger, from his father 1st October 1904, 19cm high, 29.5ozt Marks to left of handle with some light wear, interior of cover fully marked and crisp. Two or three knocks to foot rim, some small dents to the body, and one to cover. Pin to hinge protruding from one side and in need to re-securing.
An American Aesthetic Silver and Mixed Metal Vase, Whiting Mfg Co, New York, last quarter 19th century, oval section with planished finish, decorated in the Japanese taste with blossoming prunus to one side and flowering foliage to the other, raised on four outswept feet, 18.5cm high, 9oz 14dwt. Stamped underneath with makers mark, further stamped 'Sterling' and numbered '926A'. Vase is leaning slightly backwards, the feet would benefit from some re-straightening. Some wear to the decoration on the high points and some polish residue deposited within decoration.
A Stainless Steel Automatic Centre Seconds Wristwatch, signed Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, Chronometer, ref: 4392/5048, 1947, lever movement signed, super balance, black ''California'' dial with luminous triangular, Roman and baton markers, luminous blued steel hands, screw down crown, screw back numbered inside 5048 and RWCLtd, case serial number 621746, 32mm wide see illustration 07.06.19. Case with light surface scratches, case with minor dents, inside case back with old reference number 4392 engraved over and replaced below this number with reference number 5048, later strap and buckle, dial has been re-finished to a high standard, luminous markers are faded and discoloured, hands are slightly discoloured, hand setting correctly, movement needs cleaning, movement in going order.
A Diamond Five Stone Ring, set with graduated emerald cut diamonds in white claw settings, on a tapered shoulder plain polished shank, total estimated diamond weight 5.60 carat approximately, finger size K see illustration The centre diamond has a chip to one of the sides. Prior to this it had been certified (in 2005) at the International Gemological Institute of Mumbai as a 2.24 carat stone, of F color (sic) and VVS2 clarity.. The ring was valued for insurance purposes in 2012 at 66,500. Other than the chip to the diamond the ring is in good condition. It has been well worn and the rhodium plating has faded so perhaps should be re-done. It bears no hallmark, but is stamped '750' and in our opinion it would test as gold. The diamonds measure: 1. 6.48mm x 4.39mm x 2.99mm, 2. 7.03mm x 5.10mm x 3.00mm, 3. 9.17mm x 6.27mm x 4.11mm, 4. 6.94mm x 4.51mm x 3.00mm, 5. 6.50mm x 4.48mm x 2.71mm. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour F/G, clarity VVS2/VS1/VS2. Gross weight 7.8 grams. CR made 17.04.19
A Platinum Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Ring, the oval mixed cut sapphire in a rubbed over setting within a border of round brilliant cut diamonds, to a tapered shoulder plain polished shank, total estimated diamond weight 1.20 carat approximately, finger size H1/2 approximately (sizing spheres to inner shank) see illustration. The ring is in good condition. It is hallmarked with sponsor's mark 'HM', remainder unclear due to re-sizing beads. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour I/J/K, clarity SI1/SI2/I1. Gross weight 10.5 grams. CR made 06.06.19.
