Boxing; Pair of XIX Century Cast Metal Figures of the Bare Knuckle Boxers, possibly William 'Bendigo' Thompson, pair in fighting poses, on circular bases, 17.5cm high.*William Thompson became Heavyweight Champion of England in 1839. One has been restuck to base, crack repair to one arm, wear commensurate with age. Slight alteration to lot description.
A Second World War "Arctic Convoys" Group of Six Medals, awarded to C/JX.147353 C.E.COOPER. LDG.TEL. R.N., comprising 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, War Medal and Naval General Service Medal 1909-62 with clasp MINESWEEPING 1945-51, swing mounted as worn, together with a cased Arctic Campaign Medal, a boxed Malta George Cross 50th Anniversary Commemorative Medal with Malta High Commission award letter, also three boxing medallions and two football medallions, printed research material including a Summary of Service, and a related CD ROM.

Boxing, Jack Hood, Welterweight Champion of Great Britain & Europe. Known as 'Gentleman Jack', Jack Hood was an iconic boxer from the 1920's/30's who retired in 1935 at the age of 32. His boxing career saw him have over 200 bouts winning 186 of them. He retired as the undefeated & undisputed British Welterweight Champion. This lot comprises three folders giving a history of his career with 180+ original press photos, numerous original press cuttings & other information. All neatly presented and sold with a programme from the Welterweight Championship of Great Bout v Harry Mason held at Holland Park Hall, London on 31 May 1936. Viewing highly recommended. (gd)
