Width across bracket feet 28.5 cm, height excluding carrying handle 35 cm, depth at bracket feet 19.5 cm. NOTE - The rear of the case is stamped "Thwaites" (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock has come to us from a local deceased estate. It was purchased by the deceased in January 2011 from Kembery Antique Clocks for £3350. We have a copy of the invoice. The movement winds on both trains and strikes when manually advanced. The movement runs for approximately 30 seconds and then stops. It seems a little dry. When the pendulum is removed the escapement operates without assistance but is a little sluggish. The dial is extremely clean and looks to have been refinished probably prior to sale in 2011. The case is in very good condition. There are no cracks across the top. The left and right hand sides have minor stress fractures to the veneers. All brasswork is present and correct. The rear door has some stress fractures to the veneers. Both doors lock and we have the two door keys.
A Georgian walnut cased longcase clock, with moulded cornice above the arched glazed door enclosing the two-train striking movement by Jos. Naylor, London, with long trunk door and conforming base raised on bracket feet. Height 244 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away. When the hands are advanced the tidal aperture and the date appear to advance as they should. We cannot attach the strike weight as the top loop to the weight is broken. We have not had the strike operating. The seatboard is not original and there is some packing beneath the seatboard. Whether this indicates that the clock is a marriage or not we are not sure. The case maybe pine. It looks to have been fairly recently stripped and varnished. This has been a lacquered case originally. The backboards would appear to be original. The bracket feet, plinth moulding and short upstand to the base are later.

It strikes when advanced. The dial is in untouched original condition. It has craquelure to the paintwork and small chips around the winding apertures. There are also one or two larger scratches through the paintwork. The glass and brass bezel are in good order. The case itself is in generally good condition with only minor small veneer losses and stress fractures. The feet are original and in good order. There are some nibbles to the veneers around the fish scale brass sides and rear door.
An 18th century oak longcase clock by G. Payne of Ludlow, with 30 hour movement and 10" square brass dial with date aperture. Case height 209 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have the weight and pendulum however we have not had the movement running. The movement is dirty and does appear to operate without the pendulum in situ when weight is applied to the movement. The clock does also strike. The single pointer appears to move also. The movement is dirty with some losses to the paintwork to the numerals. There is no glass in the face door. The case is generally a little primitive but in reasonably good order with no serious condition issues. Neither door is warped and there is no evidence of any active woodworm. We have a weight for the clock, it is in our opinion the wrong one however. The bracket feet and plinth moulding are in our opinion later. We are not sure whether the clock is a marriage or not. The seatboard would appear to be original and the cheeks have not been built up. The upper section of the backboards running from the height of the hood moulding to the top of the case has an old but later overlaid panel of plywood. The mask around the dial fits the face very well.
A George III mahogany longcase clock, by Thomas Twigg, Shelton, with eight day movement, the case with swans neck pediment, long trunk door and fluted quarter column corners. Height 229 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. It strikes when advanced. The face is discoloured and dirty particularly around the bottom edge and the left and right hand lower spandrels. There is some craquelure to the face and the numbers appear at some point to have been re-painted along with the name. There may also have been restoration to the paintwork on the arch. The case is in structurally fairly good order but does have numerous old blemishes and discolouration to the polish. The hood and trunk door are not warped. The lock escutcheon is worn. The backboards are in tired condition. There are some holes in the centre of the backboard. The base moulding is a little knocked and scuffed. There are no bracket feet.

Dixon Whithaven (sic), with cherub mask spandrels all beneath the arched painted dial with a seated female looking towards the sea, with eight day movement chiming on a bell, in oak case crossbanded with mahogany. Height 206 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. The clock is currently ticking away. We have both weights and pendulum. The movement appears to strike when advanced. The upper half of the case backboards are later. There are some scratches and losses to the paintwork in the arched dial. The case is in reasonable condition. There are some timber fractures to the hood and slightly open corner joints. There are some stress fractures to the crossbanding around the door. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the case and base are in generally good condition. The clock may at some point have had bracket feet but only the base moulding is currently present. There are three small pieces of dentil moulding missing beneath the clock hood.
A walnut cased grandmother clock, with three-train spring driven movement, with long trunk door and all raised on bracket feet. Height 171 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on all three trains. We do not have the pendulum so cannot tell if it is ticking away. It strikes when advanced but the movement seems sluggish. It is very dirty. The movement has eight hammers but only six gongs. Two appear to be missing. The face is in good condition. The case is in very good order with only very minor blemishes. The hood has no condition issues. The door is not warped and the sides and base of the case are in very good condition with only very minor surface marks.
A German carved wooden owl form clock, the eyes indicating the time, height 19 cm, and a wooden bracket (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock ticks when wound. The colour of the wood is uniform throughout. There is a small nick to the rear of the head. It is stamped to the rear base GES. GESCH Germany. When looking directly at it there are white marks around the dial on the left eye. This would appear to be the fixing adhesive for the dial (Plaster of Paris) has been damaged in some way. There is a small slightly large than pinhead size white mark to the front body just below the beak where it would appear the stained varnish has been rubbed or knocked off but overall the item is in nice condition. The accompanying bracket has had the right hand corner frieze glued back on. The centre right supporting bracket has a top to bottom split. There is an ink mark to the centre of the shelf. The centre left and extreme left supporting brackets appear to have been off sometime in their life as there are traces of glue but both appear to be free from any chips or cracks.
An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock by J. Spittall of Whitehaven, the case with swans neck pediment, with Verre Eglomise above the glazed door enclosing the eight day striking movement, the case with three quarter trunk door and conforming base raised on bracket feet. Height 232 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds on both trains. We have both weights and the pendulum. The clock is currently ticking away and appears to be striking as it should. The seconds hand is detached but we have it. There is a very small crack to the door glass in the top left hand corner below the arch. The case is in extremely good condition. It is of good colour and the door is not warped. The bracket feet are original. We have the key for the case door.
