Verge movement with bob pendulum striking on two or six bells with musical drum and repeat mechanism. Break arch dial with subsidiary strike silent, calendar, bell indicator and false pendulum aperture. Engraved backplate with floral and classical figure decoration. The dial signed James Chater, London. James Chater and James son of James are recorded as working in London in the second half of the eighteenth century, approx 72cm high including carrying handle. Together with an associated ebonised wall bracket.
