Mixture of ages and conditions. Some reproduction items.
French Model 1872/74 Dragoon Troopers Helmet, steel body with brass trim, large central brass section with foliage and French fused grenade. Leather backed brass scaled chinstraps, brass fluted plume holder with a replacement feather plume fitted. Brass comb having mythical head figure to the front and black horse hair brush plume. Interior of the helmet with a brown leather liner, which is slightly loose in places. Some restoration / replaced parts
Victorian Royal Engineers Officers Home Service Helmet, blue cloth body with gilt front trim, velvet backed linked chin chain and two side rosette bosses. Brass cross base with spike and helmet plate in form of the Royal Arms. Helmet is complete with leather sweatband cloth lining. J Haslett Woolwich tailors details to the crown. Helmet is dusty and shows some obvious service wear but generally a good example.

Complete with tallies to the rear section; 7th Duke of Edinburgh’s Own Gurkha regiment pillbox cap with regimental badge to the front; coloured field service cap with plain domed brass buttons and no badge. French Brass Fire Helmet, good example of a brass dress helmet with large central comb fitting. Scaled leather backed chinstrap and a copper Fire Brigade badge to the centre (possibly a replacement). Leather liner to the interior (loose). Some denting to the shell.
George VI Royal Marines NCO’s Dress Helmet, white dress helmet for the Royal Marines with brass and enamel George VI period helmet plate to the centre. Complete with the ball top. Leather sweatband to the interior shows some wear and is dry in places; Royal Engineers officers dress uniform peaked cap with thick row of gold braid to the peak and two piece cap badge. Herbert Johnson tailors details to the interior. (2 items)
Montgomeryshire Yeomanry Uniform Grouping, consisting of fine quality scarlet cloth other ranks dress tunic with stand up black collar, brass shoulder titles T/Y/MONTGOMERYSHIRE and regimental buttons. Half blanket lined interior with remains of the original paper issue label. Accompanied by the matching dress trousers. Other items in the grouping consist of white metal regimental scaled shoulder straps, universal pattern white buff leather belt with brass two piece waist belt clasp, pair of short pattern black leather boots, set of spurs and some other items. The set belonged to 1854 PTE H Roberts Montgomeryshire Yeomanry. See medal section for original owners WW1 campaign medals.
Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Patrol Tunic of Lieutenant Alwyn Ronald Macfarlane-Grieve 1st / 8th Battalion Killed in Action 17th March 1917, fine example of the blue wool four pocket patrol tunic with small type regimental tunic buttons and white twist cord lanyard from the shoulder. Epaulettes with brass rank pips and “T” distinctions. Fitted waistbelt to the tunic. Interior lining with William Anderson & Sons Ltd Edinburgh tailors label having inked name “A R Macfarlane-Grieve Esq 8th A&S H June 1916”. Remains in good overall condition. Alwyn Ronald Macfarlane-Grieve was educated at Perse School Cambridge. He was killed in action on 17th March 1917 near Arras, his company commander wrote after his death, “He was killed on the forefront of the German front line, whilst encouraging his men, like the good soldier he was. We miss him very much indeed & all mourn the loss of an excellent soldier, a great organiser & a good friend”.
WW2 British Royal Artillery Brigadiers Service Dress Tunic, four pocket service dress tunic with brass Royal Artillery regimental tunic buttons, red gorget collar patches and brass rank insignia to the shoulder straps. Evidence of a large medal ribbon bar once being present. Remains in generally good condition. Some scattered moth damage to the arms.
Essex Yeomanry Royal Horse Artillery Officers Full Dress Uniform, being a green cloth four pocket tunic with gilt metal George VI pattern officers collar patches and front buttons. Chainmail shoulder scales with brass rank pips for Captain and gilt EIIR Royal Horse Artillery badges. Pocket and cuff buttons being anodised regimental pattern. Quilted green cloth lining to the interior of the tunic. Accompanied by a matching pair of trousers with double red stripe to the legs. Set remains in excellent overall condition.
Post 1902 Worcestershire Regiment Bandsman Dress Tunic, fine scarlet cloth dress tunic with white facings and red over white twist cord piping. Brass post 1902 general service tunic buttons and brass regimental shoulder titles. Musicians nests to the shoulders. Complete with rank chevron and drummers arm badge. Proficiency star to the lower sleeve. Marks for collar badges, however these are not present. Partially lined interior with ink issue and regimental stamps for the 4th Battalion Worcestershire regiment. Some wear but generally a good example.
Victorian 2nd Renfrewshire Rifle Volunteers Helmet Plate, fine example white metal other ranks example with Prince of Wales plumes to the centre. Complete with three lug fittings to the reverse. Accompanied by a brass other ranks helmet plate for the Ox & Bucks Light Infantry with two lug fittings to the reverse. (2 items)
Rare Officers Uniform Group of the Dublin University Officers Training Corps (O.T.C) Belonging to Captain J G D Atkinson, fine example of a officers scarlet full dress tunic with blue facings. Officers silvered Dublin University OTC collar badges and brass officers Dublin University OTC buttons. Knotted shoulder boards with three rank pips to each. Heavy bullion braid to the cuffs and brocade border to the collar (some loose stitching to brocade). Quilted lining to the interior with the original Dublin tailors label to the collar with inked name and date April 1913. Accompanied by a matching pair of dress trousers with red stripe to the leg, these have the same tailors label to the inside with inked name. Also accompanied by the original mess dress tunic with blue facings and regimental badges to the lapels. Set shows some service wear but generally a very fine example of a rare attributed uniform set.
Royal Gloucester Hussars Officers Tunic, blue cloth four pocket tunic with polished brass regimental tunic buttons. Gold with blue fleck braid to the collar and thin type shoulder straps with three small rank pips attached. Medal ribbons to the breast for WW1 and WW2 service. Interior pocket with Hamper & Fry, Cirencester tailors label having inked name “A J Holbrow Esq” and date 16.5.1939. Generally good condition.
WW2 American Military Tunic, four pocket example with brass American eagle tunic buttons. No markings or dates visible to the inside. Some scattered mothing; Another similar but with plastic buttons and an officers pattern wool greatcoat with removable liner. Some mothing to the other two pieces also. (3 items)
British Paratroopers / Airborne Forces Denison Jump Smock, well used and faded example with a button up half front as opposed to the standard zip. Brass press stud buttons which has oxidised. Button cuffs. Label to the interior collar with remains of date “1958”. Good worn example.
WW2 Battle Dress Blouse 14th / 20th Hussars Serving with 2nd Infantry Division, 1940 pattern blouse with open tailored collar, brass regimental shoulder titles, brass crossed Kukri battle honour badge and machine woven 2nd Infantry division cloth formation sign. Corporal rank chevrons to both arms. Interior with 1945 dated size label. Some wear but generally still good condition.
2x Imperial German Prussian Pickelhaube Helmet Plates, both being brass other ranks examples, both with loop fittings to the reverse; small brass Prussian eagle cartouche badge with bar fitting to the reverse; Bavarian helmet / shako plate with screw post fittings to the reverse, crown to one lion is absent; grey metal garde shako plate with a Hessian crown to the centre and loop fittings to the reverse, this appears to be a fantasy item which does not exist. WW1 German Officers Binoculars Case, being a blackened wooden case with the instruction label to the interior lid. Paper cloth attachment to the rear and belt loops. Accompanied by a pair of German blackened brass frame binoculars by OIGEE Berlin, stamped “DF 03 Dienstglas Nr5335”. The binoculars case is attached to a WW2 period officers leather claw belt with silvered buckle. Binoculars optics clear just a bit dirty.
Imperial German Prussian Officers Pickelhaube for an Officer in One of the Hanoverian Infantry Regiments of the Prussian Army, Numbers 74th, 77th, 78th, 164th & 165th , leather bodied helmet shell with gilt metal officers helmet plate having the additional WATERLOO scroll, as authorised to be worn by the Prussian regiments associated with Hanover. Officers state and reichs cockade supported by flat brass scaled chinstraps. Brass front trim and rear spine. Officers pattern removable spike with securing stars. Good patina to the exterior fittings. Interior retains its officers sweatband and cloth lining. Generally a good example.
Imperial German Bavarian NCO’s Pickelhaube, good as found example with an original brass Bavarian state helmet plate to the centre, brass front trim, rear spine and other ranks style spike fitting. Helmet has been fitted with a replaced leather chinstrap and one replaced Prussian state cockade. Interior retains a officers style leather sweatband to the interior which is quite common with NCO helmets and those of one year volunteers. Helmet shows some evidence of some restoration work at some time, but generally a good example.
Imperial German Bavarian Other Ranks Pickelhaube, leather bodied helmet with brass other ranks pattern Bavarian helmet plate to the centre. Brass front trim, rear spine, other ranks spike with plain domed rivets. Helmet has an original Bavarian cockade and a restored reichs pattern cockade. Period leather chinstrap fitted to the helmet with brass mounts, however probably not the one originally issued with the helmet. Interior retains the original liner, this has become dry and slightly shrunk. Helmet has remains of a ink makers stamp behind the helmet plate area and just remains of ink stamps can be seen in the rear peak. Overall this is an okay example of an other ranks helmet from the state of Bavaria, some crazing to the shell and evidence of a repair at one time.
Bavarian M1842 Cuirassiers Helmet, steel shell with lion head side bosses holding the scaled chinstraps. Single Bavarian painted state cockade to the side. Large brass comb with cipher to the centre of Ludwig 1st of Bavaria. Black brush hair plume to the comb. Rear peak with plain brass domed rivets. Interior with green painted underside of the peak and black painted to the rest of the interior. Missing its liner. Shell is stamped to the underside “870” and “188”. Some surface rusting to the shell but otherwise a good example.
