With less than 70 C36 AMGs believed to remain in the UK, these are rare cars and this surely must be one of the best. The 280bhp, 3.6-Litre straight-six offered 0-62mph in 6.7 secondsThis lovely three previous keeper example has been subject to Mercedes servicing with the main dealer in Wakefield for its entire lifeSubject to a recent refresh by Mercedes including new front wings and the side skirts and rear bumper were repainted. The complete underside has also been freshly undersealed and the air-con has been re-gassed making it ice coldNew tyres were fitted a few years ago and are still in very good condition. First registered in November 1937, this MG VA Open Tourer presents beautifully in a delightful shade of French Blue. In production from February 1937 to September 1939, the MG VA 1.5-litre was the smallest of the three touring models offered by MG pre-war and just 2,407 were produced in total during that short periodThe VA’s 1,548cc four-cylinder twin-carburettor engine generated a useful 54bhp and offered 80mph. Other features included a 4-speed synchromesh gearbox, 10” Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes, adjustable Luvax shock absorbers, sporting 19” wire wheels, built-in Jackall hydraulic jacks and a bumper stabiliser to damp torsional flexing at the frontFirst registered in late 1937, this delightful example presents well in a period-faithful shade of French Blue on silver wire wheelsIt was acquired for restoration in 2012 as a 'barn find' with a complete drive train and restored between 2012 and 2020 The restoration appears to have been carried out on a 'no expense spared' basis and the car really is as good underneath as it is on topThe engine and gearbox were rebuilt with a balanced crank and fly-wheel and all other mechanical and electrical aspects were given appropriate attentionThe interior was superbly retrimmed in a combination of Light Grey, French Navy and Royal Blue and a new hood and side-screens were fittedWe encourage prospective buyers to come along to the NEC and view this rather special MG for themselves SpecificationMake: MGModel: VAYear: 1937Chassis Number: VA0958TRegistration Number: RN 6151Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 1789 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDClick here for more details, condition report and images
A remarkable Garage Find, one owner from new, 11,836 miles and fresh from 33 years storage. In order to prepare the Mini for the 1970s, it was restyled with a boxier front end featuring a full width grille, larger headlights and a revised front bumper. The new model was offered in two trim levels: the Mini Clubman and the Mini 1275 GTThe new GT featured a 1,275cc four-cylinder A-Series, a four-synchro, close-ratio, 4-speed manual gearbox, a tachometer, and 10" Rostyle alloy wheels fitted over 7.5" Cooper 'S' disc brakesFinished in Bronze Yellow over black vinyl, this example dates from 1970. With an indicated mileage of 11,836 and stickers confirming the next service at 13,438 miles and the tax disc expiring at the end of June 1990, we assume the car was taken of the road in late 1989/early 1990The bodywork and interior do seem to remain in remarkable condition. It almost feels as though a soapy wash and a good valet would have it back in shapeThe engine bay however is not so good and the car will undoubtedly need a full mechanical recommissionAs with any classic car needing work to get back on the road, we would encourage any prospective bidders to come along to the NEC and inspect the car so they can see for themselves what may, or may not need doing. Consequently it's presented to auction as it was foundOne owner from new, 11,836 miles and fresh from 33 years storage along with its original Passport to Service and original tool kit. This Japanese Rolls Royce is offered without reserve and could be a bargain user for those long road trips.

2000 Ford Racing PumaReg. no. W657 AVWChassis no. WF0CXXGAECYR13644Engine no. YR13644Transmission: ManualMileage: 85,180MOT: June 2023 The Ford Racing Puma could be considered a homologation special. However, unusually, the car was designed to commemorate Fords success with the car in motorsport as opposed to a competition car. It was a way of showing the world its motorsport technologies through a production-based car. With 1000 units planned, just 500 were ever built for the UK market with all conversions being carried out by the famous motorsport outfit, Tickfords between 1999 and 2001.The stunning imperial blue colour of the Racing Puma really made the wider, aluminium factory arches stand out, but these builds were not just about looks. The cars weighing in at just 1174kg, sport an Alcon brake setup at the front, a stronger IB5 gearbox and shafts, as well as uprated cams, air intake and exhaust system. Despite only producing 155bhp from its 1.7 Zetec engine, the little feisty Puma still pushes from 0-62 in 7.8 seconds. The handling was left to Ford’s specialists at Boreham to fettle with a certain Stig Blomqvist reportedly spending a large amount of time helping the team refine the handling on the little coupe. In period the S1400 and S1600 rally cars were piloted by the likes of David Higgins and Sebastien Loeb as Ford further cemented itself in the world of motorsport. This particular example has been kept as part of a rally family’s collection for some time and has only seen 1000 miles in the last 14 years; the V5C document shows just two previous owners. It has had some recent recommissioning work, the front bumper has been painted, and overall, the car remains in very original condition, having averaged just 3,500 miles per year. It is in good condition mechanically and the interior is in fantastic order with the Alcantara wheel and seats looking factory fresh. Every Puma Racing was numbered with this particular car sporting number 0318 on its manifold which is also reflected in its original owner’s guide supplement. The sale includes a large amount of history with original stamped service book, a large number of parts and service receipts, many of which are from PumaBuild and a current V5C document. This is a great opportunity to own a well-presented example of a limited build, motorsport based, Ford collector’s car.Estimate: £20,000 – 25,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. 1992 Nissan Skyline R32 GTSTReg. no. K995 SWPChassis no. HCR32-286424Engine no. TBCTransmission: ManualMileage: 158,000kmsMOT: August 2023 The R32 was really the generation that introduced the Skyline to the rest of the world; the GTR variant was so dominant racing in Australia it was banned from their popular supercar championship. The RB straight six turbo engine is often described as one of the best Japanese engines of all time offering a great balance of torque and power as well as being vastly tuneable. The GTST 2WD variant featured the RB20DET, the 2-litre turbo version of this engine with an initial power output of around 220bhp. The Skylines featured a number of ‘techy’ features including its rear steer HICAS system and viscous LSD on all turbo models. Production ran from 1989 – 1994 with around 300,000 units produced over the full model range. This eye catching R32 GTST was imported to the UK in April 2008 with a vast array of modifications. It has been with its current owner since 2019 and has been dry stored in that time with lack of use being the reason for sale. The engine was rebuilt in 2012 along with a fresh clutch kit. Power has been increased from 220bhp to around 300bhp with dyno printout and mapping completed at Horsham Developments. Engine modifications include an R33 GTR Turbo, 444cc injectors, Magic intake front facing plenum, tubular exhaust manifold, Greddy boost controller, Greddy dump valve, AEM FRP and Mishimoto Intercooler. A larger aluminium radiator has been fitted with clutch fan and the battery has been moved to the rear of the car for weight balance. The handling has been improved using HSD coilovers, Kazz 1.5 way LSD, HICAS lockout bar with complete Driftworks adjustable arms front and rear. To improve stopping, a K Sport big brake kit has been fitted on the front with floating discs, whilst the rear is fitted with larger R33 Skyline calipers. The interior features a full roll cage with additional bars, Corbeau Clubman bucket seats and harnesses, Nismo gear knob, Nardi steering wheel and various aftermarket gauges to keep an eye on what is going on under the bonnet. The car is painted in the Ford yellow with arch extensions front and rear, Nismo front bumper ducts and 17” staggered Volks rays wheels which measure 12” wide on the rear in three piece and 9” wide on the front which are two piece wrapped in track focused tyres. A great Japanese import with all the possible additions you need to enjoy the car on track or in competitions such as sprinting or hill climbing or drifting. The sale includes a current V5 document as well as parts and servicing invoices since it has been in the UK. The V5 currently describes the car as black so this may need to be changed on the logbook under new ownership.Estimate: £14,000 – 16,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. 1970 Porsche 911E Transmission: manualMileage:98794The Porsche 911 is the flagship car of the German manufacturer. It has a distinctive design, rear-engined, with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of competition and is among the most successful competition cars ever. The earliest edition of the 911 had a flat-six engine in the ‘boxer’ configuration, similar to the 356, air-cooled, rear-mounted and displaced 1991cc. It was mated to a four or five-speed manual ‘Type 901’ gearbox. Manufactured in 1970 and then exported and registered in the United States in 1971, the 911E on offer here was unusually specified without the usual additional extras; such as a sunroof or electric windows. This configuration however, would shape the car’s future as it lends itself well to motorsport applications where the non-sunroof shell is not only lighter, but also more rigid, aiding handling. As with so many American sourced classic cars, there is little known of the car’s life over there. It was imported into the UK in 1989 and was featured in Classic and Sportscar magazine when being sold by The Autodrome for the April 1992 edition, (of which a copy of the article can be seen in the accompanying history file). The car was purchased by Ken Davies in 1993, (who later went on to be Chairman of the Castle Combe racing Club and is well respected in the Motorsport community) and went about converting it into a race car to run in the HSCC 70’s Roadsports Series, with the help of the well regarded specialists, Oak Tree Garage. Mr. Davis went to be Chairman of the Castle Combe racing Club and is well respected in the Motorsport community. Included in the accompanying history file are many amusing correspondences between Mr. Davis and the HSCC disputing the allowed minimum weight of the car. Mr. Davis enjoyed good success with it, before selling it on to the vendor in 2005.The vendor carried on racing the car in the HSCC 70’s Roadsports Series until 2009. In 2007, he had the engine rebuilt and uprated to S specification by well renowned Porsche specialist Mike Bainbridge including; ported and polished cylinder heads, reground crankshaft, new Mahle S specification barrels and pistons, modified oil system and replacement piston squirters fitted. The car was then tuned on Bob Watson’s rolling road and shown to have a very healthy 198bhp. Two notable victories for the car were in 2006, when the car won both the Birkett Relay and the Pomeroy Trophy. In 2009, the vendor swapped to a Jaguar for his racing, however, he kept the 911 and used it sparingly for Sunday outings and the odd track day at his local circuit Castle Combe. The car’s specification is impressive with the aforementioned Bainbridge built S specification engine, 6x15†front and 7x15†rear Fuchs style wheels, Bilstein sports suspension, 911S style front bumper, 3.2 Carrera front brake calipers, rear roll cage, RS style seats and lightweight carpet set.Supplied with a V5C registration document, file of receipts and virtually every MoT test certificate between 1989 and 2016, the vendor reports that the car runs and drives extremely well and that it is a very quick and capable car both on road and track. Ideal for Sunday coffee runs, car meets, track days or even racing, this pretty little 911 can do it all.
1965 Amphicar 770 Transmission: manualMileage:14620The Amphicar is an amphibious vehicle, designed by Hans Trippel and manufactured by the Quandt Group in Lübeck and Berlin-Borsigwalde. The Amphicar was designed to be marketed and sold in the USA; compared to most boats or cars, its performance was modest, resulting in less than 4,000 being produced between 1961 and 1968. Nevertheless, it is still among the most successful amphibious civilian vehicles of all time and is still often prized and preserved as a novelty collectible automobile today. From the front the appearance of the under-surface is slightly pointed and sharply cut away; the wheels are set low, ensuring that the vehicle stands well above ground level when on dry land. Front and rear bumpers are placed low on the body panels and the water propulsion is provided by twin propellers mounted under the rear bumper. Power was supplied by the 1147cc engine from the Triumph Herald; the Amphicar engine had a power output of 43hp. Referred to as the ‘Model 770’, the Amphicar could achieve speeds of seven knots in the water and 70mph on land. This left hand drive example was made for the European market and has been retained in a private collection for over 20 years. Believed to be one of only eight Amphicars in the UK, it was restored a number of years ago and is finished in Eau-De-Nil with a white vinyl roof and black interior. We are advised by the vendor that this Amphicar 770 should arrive at auction with a new battery and in running order, however it will require further restoration especially to the rear of the car where a few leaks have been detected. It was used to tow the under-16 Namibian Ski Champion as part of a publicity campaign 10 years ago. The vehicle was first registered on 11th January 1965 and is supplied with the original buff logbook, together with some previous MoT test certificates (the last one expired in 2004) and some interesting newspaper articles featuring LMV 7C. These immensely entertaining car/boats are hard to find and generate huge interest on land or water. One Amphicar owner was quoted saying ‘We like to think of it as the fastest car on the water and the fastest boat on the road.’ The ideal viewing platform for next year’s Henley Regatta!
A superb, 'chrome bumper' factory V8 in a Heritage shell with some performance upgrades. An exceptional example. This chrome-bumper factory MG B GT V8 finished in Glacier White was purchased by its present owner in 2007 from renowned classic car dealers, Murray Scott Nelson. It was accompanied by an impressive history file and was mechanically good but in need of some serious attention to the bodywork. The decision was taken to commence a full restoration and consequently a new Heritage Shell was purchased and subtlety modified with ‘RV8’ inner wings to allow the fitment of free flow manifolds, a visually impressive addition looking factory- correct. To complement the new shell, the engine was fully rebuilt and correctly detailed with new cylinder heads and a 4.6 cam, as was the gearbox, overdrive and final drive. With fully refurbished wheels and new tyres, this particular GT V8 is now a very impressive machine, accompanied by the glorious soundtrack emanating from the free-flow exhaust. A true drivers' GT that will please the most pedantic of MG owners.SpecificationMake: MGModel: MGB GT V8Year: 1974Chassis Number: GD2D11292GRegistration Number: WGP 788MTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 96386 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images
Rare and desirable R V8 with less than 23,000 miles from long-term ownership. The MG RV8 was a hugely important step in the 1990s rebirth of MG Cars after more than a decade of only producing saloons and hatchbacks. Since Abingdon's closure in 1980, the illustrious MG badge had been reserved for the Metro, Maestro and Montego and, although these cars were worthy, what enthusiasts really wanted was a new MG roadster. In 1992, 12 years after the last MG sports car had rolled off the Abingdon production lines, Austin-Rover made the inspired decision to revive this most charismatic of British marques by introducing an entirely new model - the MG RV8.In creating the RV8, Rover very cleverly used a combination of off-the-shelf parts, such as the Range Rover's V8 engine and British Motor Heritage's MGB bodyshell. So, in this reincarnation of the MGB, the rubber bumper specification body was utilised and modified to accept a new set of beautifully curvaceous outer panels. The 3.9-litre Range Rover EFi V8 engine developed 188bhp and gave the RV8 enough power to crack 0-60 mph in just under six seconds which, even today, is pretty impressive. A 5-speed LT77 gearbox, derived from the Rover SD1 was used along with a new Salisbury axle. Very significant modifications were made to the suspension and brakes to bring the car up to date and the interior featured soft leather in Stone Beige and a Burr Elm facia and door cappings. The RV8 was shown at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show creating a huge demand which resulted in nearly 1,600 examples (of the 1,983 total) being exported to Japan. Despite (or maybe because of) the RV8 being based on a 30-year old model, its classic status was assured from the day it was unveiled, and with less than 2,000 examples built between 1992 and 1995, the cars are now much sought after. No RV8s were ever sold in the US and consequently they are all right-hand drive. We believe that 1,583 RV8s went to Japan initially, but such has been the growing demand in recent years in the UK, that many have been sourced in Japan and returned to the these shores to join the 307 originally sold here. This delightful example did indeed travel to Japan but was not purchased second-hand over there as it was never sold in the first place. It was a very late production car fitted with air-conditioning (non-standard in the UK) but perhaps it arrived in Japan after demand had dwindled and was never registered, subsequently, returning home some months later prior to being bought by a doctor for his wife and registered in late 1999. It was purchased by its present owner, our vendor, in 2008 with excellent Woodcote Green paintwork but under the bonnet a number of the plated items had deteriorated necessitating a full strip and cosmetic reconditioning and replating. At the same time, the underbody was also repainted to achieve a perfect appearance and, whilst stripped, all brake pipes, calipers etc. were reconditioned, the car was 'poly-bushed', and a set of adjustable Spax Shocks were fitted as were four new tyres. Some corrosion to the screen frame was attended to with a new frame and screen supplied by Clive Wheatley. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer was indicating 22,858 miles. This superb RV8 has formed part of a private collection in recent years and, unlike many 'museum' exhibits, our fastidious vendor enjoys keeping his collection in absolutely top form. We encourage interested parties to take the opportunity to come and view this impressively presented MG. Presenting in exceptional condition, this Tommykaira R-S is a unicorn of the JDM world and one of just 35 Tommykaira R34s ever produced. Generating some 435bhp from the uprated RB26 DETT, this car is a fabulous look-back at the pinnacle of Japanese tuning houses in their prime. The car culture in Japan is globally renowned for its passion for modification, enthusiasm for all cars, and unbridled ability to push the boat out. Throughout the 1990s, the tuner culture truly exploded in the Japanese car world with, now infamous, garages, workshops and brands popping up and growing notoriety such as Smokey Nagata’s ‘Top Secret’, Akira Nakai’s ‘RWB’, and brands/factions such as Nismo, Blitz, HKS and others. One of these brands was Tommykaira.Originally founded in 1986 as Tomita Yume Koujou, Tommykaira is a Japanese car tuning and manufacturing company headquartered in Minami-ku, Kyoto and named after its two founders, Yoshikazu Tomita and Kikuo Kaira. Several of its cars have appeared in both the Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport racing simulation video game series which boosted their popularity and awareness of the brand.Tommykaira tuned, modified and then re-branded cars as if they were manufactured by the company itself, with the permission of the parent manufacturers, much like the German counterparts of Ruf and Gemballa do with Porsches. A Subaru Impreza was re-branded as Tommykaira M20b, a Nissan 350Z as a Tommykaira Z, and the most notorious JDM car of all, the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R was offered in three guises, the Tommykaira R, R-S or RZ featuring different levels of aggression, styling and power, the R being entry level, the R-S the mid-range, most balanced option and the RZ the most aggressive. The R34 GT-R's popularity was rocketed by an appearance in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise that led to an explosion in global popularity for the R34 GT-R. Indeed, the late Paul Walker drove an R34 GT-R in '2 Fast 2 Furious', enhancing its almost cult status. But it was in the 'real' world where the R34 GT-R V-Spec would cement its reputation. Described by Evo Magazine as "A warrior-class performer" in its 2007 road test, where a standard R34 GT-R was pitted against the likes of a McLaren F1, Pagani Zonda, Ferrari F40 and Bugatti Veyron, the GT-R's reputation as a class-act remained intact. The R33 GT-R was a good car, but many found it to be too bulky in design and too heavy to be a worthy successor to the R32 GT-R, which the R34 sought to rectify, and did so with flying colours. Released with a shorter, sharper design and the performance to match, it’s safe to say the bite truly matches the bark. For a car released in 1999, the R34 came crammed full of technology including a 5.8" LCD multifunction display in the dashboard, showing seven different live readings of engine and vehicle statistics such as boost pressure, oil/water temperature and throttle percentage amongst others. It arrived with aggressive new styling, a stiffer bodyshell and a reworked version of the bulletproof and highly modifiable RB26DETT twin-turbo, inline-six mated to an all-new Getrag 6-speed gearbox and transfer case. The electronically controlled Super HICAS rear-wheel steering system was retained. Unlike some other performance cars of the 1990s, Nissan did not neglect the braking system and fitted Brembo brakes with 300mm vented discs, although Tommykaira did upgrade these further to match the power increase. The example offered here is a V-Spec JDM-delivered car and is one of just 522 produced in GV1, Pearl Black, out of a production run of 11,578 cars. Importantly, this was one of the very select cars that Tommykaira got their hands on. Tommykaira built three variations of the R34, the entry level R with 375bhp, the R-S with 435bhp and a host of mechanical upgrades and the hardcore RZ with over 500bhp. Tommykaira upgrades were both mechanical and cosmetic with a view to improving and refining the already outstanding R34 GTR, seeking to make it faster, better to drive and overall improved on both road and track without compromising comfort. On the mechanical side, we have Nissan’s legendary 2.6-litre twin-turbo engine now producing 435bhp thanks to its N1 Turbos, Tommykaira remapped ECU, stainless-steel Tommykaira exhaust system, uprated radiator, oil cooler, intercooler, turbine kit and air filters. The driving experience is enhanced with uprated Bilstein gas-filled shock absorbers, 25mm lowering springs, upgraded front tension rods, a strut-brace and a twin-plate cutch. Cosmetically, the R-S model features an exclusive mesh grille, front bumper, front spoiler, side skirts, rear bumper, rear valance and diffusers, as well as an adjustable alloy GT wing and more Tommykaira emblems than you can shake a stick at. Step foot near this car and you’ll have no doubt who built it and why.It rides on its original lightweight, and recently refurbished (costing £460 from Platinum Alloys), 19-inch, six-spoke Tommykaira ‘Pro R’ magnesium wheels finished in gold and wrapped in Bridgestone Potenzas all-round, with massive AP Racing six-piston callipers and discs on the front with two-piston callipers on the back, meaning this JDM hero stops as fast as it accelerates. The interior also saw sympathetic upgrades featuring exclusive Tommykaira sports seats with red embroidered Tommykaira emblems, a black leather-trimmed centre armrest, handbrake grip and steering wheel with red contrast stitching, and light gold trim inserts. Additionally, there are bespoke Tommykaira floor mats, gear knob, foot rest, tinted windows, automatic climate control, a Clarion infotainment system with satellite navigation, a multifunctional display (MFD), electrically adjustable mirrors and a fabulous Tommykaira aluminium faced digital speedometer with a peak torque and a shift light.Within the history file there is a good summary of its owners in Japan, its auction report including photos prior to export, and a good amount of Japanese history. It was most recently serviced on 24th August 2022 by Abbey Motorsport costing £827 including all fluids changed and a fresh MOT despite only covering just over 1,000km since its last service. In 2019 Abbey Motorsport carried out another service including changing the timing belt, fitting a custom-made radiator and a new battery with the invoice totalling £1,951. The history file also contains a big section of OEM/OEM+ parts bought from either Nissan directly or from Japan and Authenticity Certificates on the Tommykaira parts as well as the original Tommykaira Sales Brochure. It will be supplied with a custom Tommykaira car cover, jack kit and spare wheel.Imported in 2016 and owned by our vendor since then, this utterly stunning Tommykaira R-S has covered just 76,727km (47,675 miles) from new and presents in outstanding condition, testament to our vendor who has kept it in dry storage whenever not in use and never allowed it to see the dreaded UK salt, thus ensuring its all-round stunning condition. This represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a phenomenally rare example of arguably the fastest appreciating modern-classic in the fastest appreciating sector of the market which showcases just how capable these Japanese tuning houses were at building phenomenal cars for both road and track. With the USA market just 1-2 years away for a lot of GT-Rs, it could be an outstandingly smart investment that can also be enjoyed in the meantime.SpecificationMake: NISSANClick here for more details and images
Offered from The Twin Sparks Collection a delightfully presented Mk1 Sprite in a glorious colour combination.Intended to make sports car motoring more affordable, the Donald Healey-designed Sprite entered production at MG's Abingdon factory in March 1958. The new car was officially introduced a few months later in Monte Carlo, just prior to the Monte Carlo Rally, underlining this brand-new car's sporting intentions. Its unitary construction body shell featured a distinctive rearward-hinging, combined bonnet and wings, which was topped by two 'bugeye' headlamps, thus ensuring instant recognition and the now familiar nickname. The Sprite used independent front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, ensuring great road holding. Despite a Spartan equipment level with even the front bumper listed as an extra, the 'Bugeye' sold well, which perhaps was unsurprising as there was nothing competing with it either on price or performance. It first went on sale at a price of £669, using a mildly tuned version of the Austin A-Series engine and many other components from existing cars to keep costs down. The little Sprite quickly became affectionately known as the 'Frogeye' in the UK and the 'Bugeye' in the US, because its headlights were prominently mounted on top of the bonnet, inboard of the front wings. Originally the designers had intended that the headlights could be retracted, with the lenses facing skyward when not in use; but cost-cutting by BMC led to the flip-up mechanism being deleted. The front sheet-metal assembly, including the bonnet and wings, was a one-piece unit, hinged from the back that swung up to allow access to the engine compartment. The 43bhp, 948cc engine was upgraded with twin 1 1/8" inch SU carburettors. The rack and pinion steering and suspension were derived from the Morris Minor with the front suspension made up of a coil spring and wishbone arrangement with the arm of the Armstrong lever shock absorber serving as the top suspension link. The rear axle was both located and sprung by quarter-elliptic leaf springs, again with lever-arm shock absorbers. There were no exterior door handles; the driver and passenger were required to reach inside to open the door, and there was no boot lid so access to the spare wheel and luggage compartment was achieved by tilting the seat-backs forward and reaching under the rear deck. This particular Sprite again ticked the many boxes required to make it into The Twin Sparks Collection. With its truly staggering finish, it is remarkable to see such attention to detail on a car where you typically see corners cut due to the affordable nature of the car in the first place, but a truly brilliant result has been achieved with this car. It was subjected to a retirement restoration project commencing in 2005, and finally completed in 2012. It lived 30 years of its life under single ownership and the restoration has simply brought it up to a ‘better than new’ standard. The bodywork and paint were professionally undertaken by a specialist in Rolls-Royce, which explains its high quality finish. The cars mechanical and electrical components were either restored or replaced to the original specification wherever possible. The 948cc A-Series engine was re-bored and fitted with new pistons, reground crankshaft, new bearings, timing chain, sprockets as well as oil and water pumps. The only diversions from standard specification were the popular choices of fitting the improved 12G295 cylinder head, replacing the original SU Carburettors with 1¼ in replacements, a superior ‘ribbed’ gearbox driving through a 1098cc type flywheel and clutch assembly, all built to make the car have that little more poke and an enhanced driving feel. The original seats and interior trim have all been reupholstered in navy blue vinyl with a matching hood. The original steel wheels are wrapped in Continental tyres and the car can simply be described as ‘meticulously detailed’. Within the history file, you’ll find a huge stack of invoices for parts and labour for the car, an original Special Tuning Booklet, Workshop Manual and correspondence between the buyer and the builder. With a full restoration, regular mechanical attention, only 100 miles since completion and very sensibly guided, this is arguably the best Frogeye Sprite currently on the market.SpecificationMake: AUSTINModel: HEALEY SPRITEYear: 1959Chassis Number: AN511884Registration Number: 822 VMUTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 9C-V-H11373Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 28 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Navy Blue VinylClick here for more details and images
As just one of four RS450 Extreme models, this is one of the rarest Evolutions and the only one finished in white. The tale of Mitsubishi vs. Subaru is as old as the two manufacturers have been competing and is arguably one of the longest standing ‘friendly’ rivalries in the motoring world. The philosophy of ‘anything you can do, I can do better’ was undeniably adopted by both, meaning the quality of cars produced and the levels of battle preparation were ever increasing. With Subaru producing the ‘Version’ cars, the P1, and the 22B alongside Prodrive, Mitsubishi retaliated with the Tommi Makinen, the TME RS and the heaviest hitter of the Evo VI range, the RS450 Extreme. It is a punchy manoeuvre to put ‘Extreme’ in the title of anything, as one rightfully expects it to be the rawest variant, but thankfully Mitsubishi put its money where its mouth is, and the RS450 earned the title with its hardcore persona.Built exclusively for the UK-market, and in incredibly small numbers, it's believed that just four RS450 Extremes were ever built, with just three remaining. They were prepared by Ralliart prior to their incorporation into the main Mitsubishi fold, essentially operating as a very well known ‘skunkworks’ division, taking the fight to Subaru’s Prodrive. Unlike later Evos, where the number following ‘FQ’ denoted the horsepower of the vehicle, the ‘450’ in RS450 denotes the Nm/torque pushed out by the 2.0-litre turbocharged 4G63 engine, with 380bhp. This car’s Ralliart-prepared engine produces around 438bhp and 412lb/ft of torque, laid on the tarmac via the four-wheel drive system and no longer fitted with the Anti-Yaw Control (AYC) and Anti-Lock Brakes as weight saving measures.Generating over 350bhp from a relatively small displacement engine was no easy feat, but was achieved with a competition-spec crankshaft, forged connecting rods and forged pistons, in addition to high-lift cams, competition head gasket and lightened valves. This car has a few mechanical modifications and upgrades including an MHI turbocharger, C-Tec 3'' modular elbow and downpipe, Prospeed 3'' stainless steel exhaust, Radtec high-capacity intercooler, Exedy twin-plate clutch and a phosphor-bronze gear linkage bush kit.Not only is it pushing out more power, but the handling has been sprinkled with modern upgrades to suit the higher power output with KW Clubsport coil-over suspension with adjustable front top mounts, NR brake ducts for extra cooling and rides on Speedline Turini 18-inch alloy wheels shod in Toyo R888R semi-slick tyres. The original, and hugely desirable Work Meister wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres are also included in the sale. The overall condition of the car is good, inside and out, and hides its 61,000 miles rather well. There are the expected stone chips and minor blemishes on the paintwork and front bumper, with the interior showing similar small blemishes. The Recaro bucket seats are in good order, and are a necessity to keep you well-held when piloting the RS450. 1966 Ford F250 6400CC Pick Up Registration: GVU667D Chassis: F25YK808943 Odometer: 13565 Transmission: Manual MOT: Exempt . Californian import . Harley Davidson tribute . Solid chassis and body work . 4 on the floor manual transmission . Power steering . Servo assisted brakes Outside Finished in gloss orange and matt black as a tribute to Harley Davidson the recent paintwork is in excellent order with no rust or blemishes. The chrome work all looks good as does the oak flooring in the load area which looks as though its never had anything in it. There are some badges missing from the wings and bonnet which the vendor says were stolen when he exhibited the truck at a local show. It has a modern rear step bumper fitted along with tow ball which again looks new. The truck rides on 20 inch alloy wheels with near new General Grabber A/T's all around. Inside Up front there's a 3 seat vinyl and velour bench seat in maroon with seat belts for all 3 occupants the headlining is also maroon to match. The exposed metal work of the interior and steering wheel is finished in the same orange as the exterior which along with a period push button stereo isn't as bad as it may sound on paper. Mechanicals The 6.4 litre V8 engine runs beautifully breathing through a Holley carb and what looks like recently fitted exhaust tailpipes. Looking under the bonnet its evident there's a few welcome additions including a new filter king fuel pressure regulator, power steering and servo assisted brakes. Driving the truck is quite an experience, the silky V8 engine pulls very well through the "4 on the floor" manual gearbox working seamlessly between ratios with the drum brakes performing surprisingly well when asking for a decrease in speed. The underside of the vehicle is in excellent condition as is usually the case with the Californian imports, if its to be used through the winter on UK roads some form of rust preventive coating would be advisable. History Other than the V5C we have no other history with the car which was first registered in the UK in 2016 and has had 3 former owners. The vendor informs us that the engine was subject to a service in the summer of 2022. Our Opinion What an eye full this expertly finished truck is, if you want to get noticed then this is the one for you. With the desirable manual gearbox coupled to the powerful V8 engine, power steering and servo assisted brakes it would make a great usable truck either for work or pleasure.
1961 Rover P4 100 2625cc 4 door saloon Offered with the original red leather interior and toolkit Registration: BJT 154A Chassis: 650101816 Odometer: 69000 Transmission: Manual MOT: Exempt No Reserve Outside The Rover is finished in the striking colour scheme of smoke grey over marine grey which suits the car very well. The bodywork appears to be free of rust in all the usual areas of the bottom of the doors, wings and sills. The paintwork is in fair overall order though there is a small dent and scratch on the off side rear wing and a few stone chips to the bonnet area. The chrome is reasonable though there is some pitting and the rear bumper is very dull and would benefit from chrome paint which is an economical alternative. The wheels are in good order with the trims and hub caps without damage. The tyres are matching Federal classic radials and have plenty of tread. Inside The interior of the Rover is a very nice place to sit with delightful patinated brown leather interior that is without any rips or tears. It is worth noting that one of the seams on the rear seat needs stitching. The woodwork is dull and could be polished if required. The wood area to the driver’s door window has a small crack. The door cards are in fair order though the lower carpet panel on the drivers door shows some wear . The carpets are reasonable though the drivers footwell has signs of damage. The headlining is very good and pleasingly the dashboard light is operational. The correct tool kit sits under the dashboard and still contains the two correct grey touch up paints. The dashboard and instruments are all in good order. Mechanicals The Rover fires into life and the six-cylinder engine is silky smooth and sounds very good indeed with no undue noises or rattles. Driving around our yard the P4 ran well, stopping in a straight line with sharp brakes, supple suspension and smooth gear changes. History There is very little paperwork with the car apart from a V5c, old MOT certificate and an invoice from 2016 detailing the recommissioning work to the value of £2469.89. Our Opinion These cars are hugely undervalued and are an inexpensive route to the fabulous world of classic luxury motoring. The Rover is in delightful patinated condition which means it can be used without fear of damage. These cars are easy to maintain, spares readily available and supported by the excellent Rover Sports register car club.
