1939 Pontiac Silver Streak Transmission: Mileage:Pontiac or formally the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors, was owned and commercialised by General Motors. Introduced as a companion for GM's more expensive line of Oakland cars Pontiac overtook Oakland in popularity and supplanted its parent brand entirely by 1933. In the hierarchy of GM's five divisions, it was slotted above Chevrolet, but below Oldsmobile, Buick, and Cadillac. Facing financial problems and restructuring efforts, GM announced during the 2008 financial crash that it would discontinue the Pontiac brand by the end of 2010, as was the case with Oldsmobile in 2004. The last Pontiac-badged cars were built in December 2009, with one final vehicle assembled in January 2010. Franchise agreements for Pontiac dealers expired on 31st October 2010, leaving GM to focus on its four remaining North American brands: Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC.The 1939 manufactured Pontiac was nicknamed Silver Streak because of the distinctive multi-groove chrome strip that bisected their bonnets, late 1930s Pontiacs were awash with art deco detailing. Owned by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable vendor this handsome car presents well in burgundy with grey cloth interior and has appeared in a number of films, namely Lost in Yonkers, Hoffa and Captain America. We are advised by the vendor she runs well although this Silver Streak has not been used much of late. Supplied with a V5C registration document this super stylish Pontiac represents a great opportunity to purchase a very interesting piece of American motoring history.
