1 Large nice head button known as a cone shank button. Here is a beautifully detailed purple glass example. These buttons were actually most likely made in the late 1800's or early 1900's. The reason collectors today use them only in Division nine is that they were often made as hatpins and some were converted to buttons. However we do know that many were made originally as buttons. One day the manufacturer was making hatpins and the next buttons. They didn't care about collectors at the time. So nevertheless these buttons are highly collectible and this example is a more unusual one to find. 1 Large late 18th century example of 2 Cocks fighting. This very rare example comes from a rare set of only 6 buttons from the late 18th century. It is made of natural material, it is engraved and pigmented in black and colors. The depiction is of two Cocks in a fight, which was a very popular sport in olden times but was made illegal in Great Britain and other areas around 1800. It was also popular in the the US and is also illegal here except that some private sporting events still take place in parts of the US. This excellent and fine condition example is as we said only one of 6 to ever be found like this so don't pass this extremely rare button up. This button has not been seen for sale since the 1940's and came from a set owned by the late Eugenie Lydecker who was a President of the New Jersey Button Society in the 1950's.Her collection was sold in 1980 at auction but this was not in the auction as it came to us from the granddaughter of Mrs. Kenneth Lydecker. 1 Medium size 20th century example but Nancy Dubois. Nancy is one of those versatile and extremely talented artists, but we have never seen anything like this example of hers before. This is what appears to be a 19th century natural horn button but hand carved in the late 20th century depicting an Egyptian Cobra snake, It is signed with Nancy's typical initials on the back. The button also has a silver engraved tongue and gold inset eyes. This is a true piece of craftsmanship. Nancy Dubois is in our opinion a fine artist and the button world is lucky to have her. In a recent conversation with Nancy she informed us that this was a one off, the only one she made and that it was definitely made from an old horn button especially for Nikki Deal. Here is an opportunity to own a beautiful work of art that no one else will. Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4".
