A good 19th century gilt and plated brass carriage clock with repeat and alarm, the segmented porcelain dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute track, subsidiary alarm dial beneath, with a pierced foliate gilt metal mask with silvered lions rampant, the decorative silver plated case with foliate handle and gilt metal panels to sides with military trophies, the twin train movement striking the hours and half hour on a gong, numbered '2019', 6in. (15.25cm.) high plus handle.* Provenance: Martel Maides Auctions, 25th Nov. 2004, Lot 230** The clock winds and runs. However, the chiming mechanism does not wind - it spins without winding and we suspect therefore that the spring is broken to that train. Chip to two corners of the back glass. The brass parts of the case are tarnished and there is wear to the bronzed patination on the columns. Minor wear to plating on corners of base and some wear to plating on handle. 1cm scratch to centre of porcelain dial towards 1.30. Please see photos to assess originality of the escapement.
