A Fine Circa 1880's Figurative Black Chantilly Lace Fan, the leaf mounted on Tortoiseshell, the upper guard applied with a monogram. The central panel of the lace is worked with an eagle, ducks, a deer, a stag, and a bridge, with a chinoiserie element to the background. The leaf is backed with a plain cream gauze. Guard length 10.75 inches or 17.5cm Purchased in an Antiques shop in 1979 for £25.00Gauze split.
A Circa 1880's Pink Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the monture elaborately carved, the gorge also delicately incised to the centre with a spray of flowers. The head is shaped to produce a frilly shell effect when the fan is open. The leaf, a floral design worked in Black Chantilly lace, is backed with pale pink gauze. Contained in a fan box covered in black silk and lined in cream silk with the addition of ribbon ties to secure the fan, the inside lid marked in gold for Duvelleroy London 167 regent Street. Guard length 10.5 inches or 26.5cmVery good, clean, shiny MOP, good lace, no damage noted.
