Margaret Dovaston (British, 1884-1954), oil on canvas, 'The Chess Match', signed and dated 1927, 45 x 60cm. Condition - fair to good Oil on canvas relined within the past 10 years or so, canvas remains tight, paint a little dusty but otherwise in good order, possibly restoration done to a tear or scratch running above the player in red head, signed lower right, housed in the original ornate gilt scroll frame which looks to be in good order, no labels or inscriptions verso. Known provenance: privately entered and bought from a midlands art dealer some thirty years ago.
