An Indian ivory chess set, 19th century, comprising of sixteen pawns modelled as mughal guards, height 5.2cm, four knights as men on horseback, height 5.2cm, four bishops as standing lions holding flags, height 7.2cm, four rooks as turrets, height 6cm, the two kings as elephants supporting howdahs and passengers, heights 7cm and two queens as elephants supporting two passengers each, height 5.7cm, the one set with red stained bases. Condition report: Red rook has a split and there is a repair to one white pawn.
A pair of Chinese ivory chess pieces, circa 1900, the King and Queen, heights 9.6cm and height 8cm. Condition report: King/Larger piece - weight 46.6gms. Queen/Small piece - weight 36.6gms.King has small topknot missing on the top of his head. Queen has some hairline cracks to ivory but is in good condition.
