Victorian silver scent bottle, of hexagonal form and etched with nursery rhyme style decoration of children, hinged lid opening to glass stopper, Sampson Mordan, London 1884, H5.7cm. Together with a Victorian double ended blue glass scent bottle with silver plated stoppers.Condition - The silver scent bottle is in generally good condition with a small dint to the lid area just above the childs head, otherwise light general wear with small chip to inner stopper. The blue glass bottle is missing an interior stopper and has light wear and rubbing to the silver plated areas.

Pair: First Class Master Gunner W. Lown, Royal Artillery Army Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R., 1st issue (1C1. Mr. Gr. W. Lown. R.A.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (2080. 3rd. Cl: Mr. Gunr. W. Lown. 3rd. Div: Cst. Bde. R.A.) very fine and better (2) £140-£180 --- William Lown was born in Markham, near Great Yarmouth, around 1853. He attested for the Royal Regiment of Artillery in the Guildhall at Norwich on 19 December 1870, his profession noted as ‘schoolmaster’s assistant’. Appointed 2nd Class Master Gunner on 21 January 1892, he was raised 1st Class Master Gunner in Ceylon and returned home to Tynemouth in February 1900. His Army Service Record confirms the award of his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal per Army Order 305 of 1889, and notes the recipient as father to 9 children born between 1878 and 1892.
Corporation of Glasgow Bravery Medal, 3rd type, gold (9ct., 12.64g) (Ralph Dunn 1966) hallmarks for Edinburgh 1965, with integral top riband bar, nearly extremely fine £120-£160 --- For the rescue of a woman and her three young children from a fire in a Glasgow tenement on 26 November 1966. At about 12.30 am at 252 Parliamentary Road, along with Constable Hutt, Mr. Dunn climbed along a window ledge on the first floor and helped extract the family.
