Includes letters from Lofthouse concerning his consent towards his photograph being used for the artwork. Mounted on card, measuring approximately 15 x 21 cm. Artist unknown. Nathaniel Lofthouse (27 August 1925 - 15 January 2011) was an English footballer who played as a forward for Bolton Wanderers for his entire career. He won 33 caps for England between 1950 and 1958, scoring 30 goals, with one of the highest goals per game ratios of any English player. In 1994 Lofthouse was appointed an OBE and in 1997 Bolton decided to name their East Stand at their new Reebok Stadium after him.

John Palmer (1939 - 2021) - x2 pieces of mixed media, original artworks by associate of the RWA, John Palmer. Featuring a military helicopter and an RAF military aircraft. Believed to have been created for cigarette card designs. Both mounted. Measuring approximately 21 cm x 30 cm. John Palmer was an accomplished and sensitive watercolourist, who won the watercolour prize at the RWA during Stewart Geddes Presidency. He joined the RWA in 1985 as an Associate and was elected a full Academician in 1991.

Churchman's (W.A & A.C), Cigarettes - Stars Of Variety (unproduced series c1946) - Original Artwork - Max Miller - an original over-painted photograph artwork, completed by artists at Mardon, Son & Hall for production of the cigarette card series. Accompanied by a letter from Miller giving his approval of a sketch for use in the series and requesting '...I should like a larger one for display outside the theatre.' Artwork size: 8.5x4.5", approx.  Thomas Henry Sargent (1894 – 1963), known professionally by his stage name Max Miller and billed as The Cheeky Chappie, was an English comedian often considered the greatest stand-up of his generation. He came from humble beginnings and left school at the age of twelve. At the outbreak of the First World War, he volunteered for the army. During his time in the forces, he started a troupe concert party. On leaving the army, he took up work as a light comedian, dancer, and singer. He toured extensively, appearing in variety, revues and by the early 1930s reached the top of the bill in the large music halls including the London Palladium.

Mardon, Son & Hall - Cigarette Cards - three pages of early cigarette card proofs, comprising: 1) F&J Smith 1908 'Fowls, Pigeons & Dogs' (x6 cards) 2) Churchman's Cigarettes 1908 'Football Club Colours' (x7 cards) 3) Loadstone Cigarettes / Franklyn Davey & Co 1908 'Footballers' (x4 cards) All on large original pages from Mardon, Son & Hall detailing the cards. All pages have written upon them 'For complete series see Ogden's' - it appears the sets were all released by Ogden's despite these sets originally being titled for other tobacco companies. All cards stuck to the pages and either displaying the fronts or rears of each card. The cards used were likely the earliest off the line, used for final checking before mass printing. Each page measures 42cm x 29cm.

George Wood Bamlett OBE (17 December 1895 – 19 February 1979), known professionally as Wee Georgie Wood, was a British comic entertainer and actor who appeared in films, plays and music hall revues. He had a lengthy career of over fifty years, based on exploiting the childlike appearance that he retained in adulthood.

Featuring the artwork for card no. 7, 'De Havilland Gipsy Moth'. Accompanied by the printed cigarette card. Mounted and signed to the bottom right corner. Measuring approximately 30 cm x 42 cm, including the mount. Eric Bottomley studied arts and crafts at Oldham School of Art, leaving in 1964 to work in Manchester as a commercial artist. In 1974 he moved to Dorset to continue as a freelance artist, to devote more time to oil painting. He joined the Guild of Railway Artists in 1979, later to become a full member.

Lawrence (Laurie) Scott (23 April 1917 - 18 July 1999) was an English footballer who played as a full back for Bradford City, Arsenal and Crystal Palace either side of World War II, and made 17 appearances for the English national team.

Artwork size: 10x5.5", approx.  Stanley Augustus Holloway OBE (1890 – 1982) was an English actor, comedian, singer and monologist. He was famous for his comic and character roles on stage and screen, especially that of Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady. He was also renowned for his comic monologues and songs, which he performed and recorded throughout most of his 70-year career.

Ltd. in 1938. Believed to be completed by artists who worked for Mardon Son & Hall Ltd Bristol. Mounted. Measuring approximately 21 cm x 15 cm, including the mount.  Maurice Herbert Evans (3 June 1901 – 12 March 1989) was an English actor, noted for his interpretations of Shakespearean characters. His best-known screen roles include Dr. Zaius in the 1968 film Planet of the Apes and Samantha Stephens's father, Maurice, on Bewitched.

Louis Ward (1913 - 2005) - an original watercolour piece of artwork, completed by Bristol artist Louis Ward. The artwork is believed to have been created for an unissued cigarette card. Featuring a period couple ice-skating. Mounted and measuring approximately 30 cm x 42 cm including the mount. Louis Arthur Ward was born in Bristol in 1913 and became a member of the local art community 'Bristol Savages' at the age of 21. After the war, he became a book illustrator and exhibited at the R.I., RWA and at Bristol Art Gallery. His painting of Christ in Gethsemane hangs in the Lady Chapel of Bristol Cathedral.

Wills in 1939. Mounted. Measuring approximately 15 cm x 21 cm including the mount.  W.D. & H.O. Wills was a British tobacco manufacturing company formed in Bristol, England, and it was the first British company to mass-produce cigarettes. It was also one of the founding companies of Imperial Tobacco along with John Player & Sons.

Churchman's (W.A & A.C), Cigarettes - Stars Of Variety (unproduced series c1946) - Original Artwork - Gert & Daisy (Elsie & Doris Waters) - an original over-painted photograph artwork, completed by artists at Mardon, Son & Hall for production of the cigarette card series. Accompanied by a handwritten letter from Elsie Waters sharing some concern over the image. Artwork size: 9x5", approx. Elsie and Doris Waters were English comic actresses and singers who performed as a double act. They are remembered for creating the comedy characters Gert Daisy, and have been described as 'the most successful female double-act in the history of British music hall and variety.
