An Edwardian silver novelty patent cigarette or cheroot case, hinged cover enclosing a gilt interior, the side with a domed compartment, possibly for a lighter, 9cm wide, S W Smith & Co, Birmingham 1910Heraldry: Robert Stephen Kingsmill Eyre of St. John's Wood and Woodside, Crowborough, Sussex (1873-1940). He was the joint owner of the immensely lucrative St. John's Wood estate (London) and sixth in descent from Henry Eyre, who bought the estate from the celebrated Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield in 1732. He was a scion of the Wiltshire Eyre family which , although bearing the same arms as the Derbyshire Eyres, appear not to have been of the same stock.R S K Eyre married (i) in 191 Sybil S. C., daughter of John Furtado of Eridge, Kent and had several children (descendants of whom survive) and (ii) married in 1907 Muriel Couchman.
