The base of both have chips, and some glaze loss.

Clarice Cliff (1899-1972) Collection of ceramics, mostly Autumn Crocus, to include a cheese dish and cover, bowls, pair of candlesticks etc, all marked to the base (9) All with signs of overall wear and use. All have some scratches and minor loss of paintwork in places. Crazing to the glaze and some firing faults in places. Gayday preserve pot does not have a cover. Wilkinson pottery bowl has a suspected area of restoration to the rim. The pepperette/shaker does not have a stopper. One of the two bowls has a chip to the rim.

Gray & Co Ltd bowl, decorated in lustre with flowers and scrolls, with marks to the base, 23.5cm wide x 7.5cm high (2) The jam pot lid with damage. The jam pot itself with some repairs to the rim, some minor damages also. The bowl with very minor chip to the underside of the rim. Both with signs of overall wear, age, marks and scratches. With minor losses to the painted decoration on both.

Clarice Cliff (1899-1972) Circle tree (RAF tree) tea cup and saucer, with black banding, Fantasque range, each piece marked to the base, teacup 6cm high, saucer 14.5cm across (2) Some slight wear and scratches to the paintwork, more noticeable on the saucer than the cup. Slight bubbling to the paint on the rim of the teacup. Otherwise seems ok. This piece has not been checked under a UV light.

Catalogue notesIn 1934 Harrod's held a selling exhibition, Modern Art for the Table, part of a government campaign to link artists to industrial design of glass and ceramics. Clarice Cliff was appointed as an Artistic director, with twenty eight recognised contemporary artists invited to design for Wilkinson's, E Brain & Co (Foley) and Stuart glass. The list of artists included Dame Laura Knight, Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, John Armstrong and Duncan Grant.
