2002 AC Cobra By Gravetti Engineering Transmission: manualMileage:12049When a Cobra 427, wearing 'Daytona' bodywork, was tested at 180mph on the M1, the Minister of Transport retaliated by slapping a 70mph speed limit on all Britain's roads. This (apocryphal) story is typical of the folklore that surrounds one of the last production cars to be designed, built and bought purely for the joy of driving. The GE 427 is a realistic replica of the 1960's classic; devastating acceleration, grossly illegal top speed, leech-like road holding and aggressive, head-turning body styling. But with the advantages of modern engineering techniques and safety features. GE Ltd. offered four engine and three gearbox options which were fully rebuilt and guaranteed for 12 months. The ladder style chassis was fully protected with two-part acrylic paint and waxoyl. The front and rear suspension and brakes were taken and modified from a donor Jaguar which also supplied the identity and year of the car. Rack and pinion steering and wheels are Halibrand replicas. As the GE sales brochure states: 'Don't buy a GE 427 to impress your mother-in-law. Don't buy one as a family runabout. Don't buy one to take your bank manager to lunch. Buy one for the sheer enjoyment.'This particular example is understood to have been built in the mid/late 1990's and first registered in October 2002. A full photographic record is included detailing the build. Power comes in the form of the trust Rover 3.5-litre V8 with a Holley four-barrel carburettor, giving ample power and that all important V8 rumble. The suspension is adjustable, so can be tailored to suit the preference of the driver depending on their requirements. The black mohair soft top is removeable, allowing for a very authentic looking car when the roof is removed completely, as the originals were. The car is in excellent order throughout, having covered less than 12,000 miles and the Royal Blue bodywork has an excellent shine. This Gravetti Engineering Cobra is valued at somewhere between 2%-3% of the price of an original 427, and certainly provides much more than 3% of the driving experience! Offered to auction with an MoT test certificate valid until May 2024, a V5C registration document and a comprehensive service record detailing works carried out over the years and a recent bill of nearly £1900 in August 2023 for work on the steering/suspension and a thorough service.
1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 'Semi lightweight homage' Transmission: manualMileage:71384Powered by the uprated 4.2 litre engine, compared to the 3.8 litre unit fitted to the previous model, the Series II E-Type offers longer legs for those continental drivers as well as offering a more practical sports car experience. Those classic E-Type styling cues though, are still very much present with that most beautiful of bonnet lines extending all the way back, taking in the fixedhead cockpit and ending in the beautifully curved rear end. Interestingly, the DNA from Sir William Lyons only extended to about 1,000 units of this model making it a rare iteration of this particular E-Type Jaguar. A culmination of a lifetimes experience and three years of painstaking attention to detail has resulted in what can be described as a true breathtaking one off example of the Series II E-Type, what can be referred to as loosely an homage to the Semi lightweight E-Type of the 60's this however in the vendors own terms was never intended to hold a likeness to any one car in particular but his own take on the perfect stance E-Type coupé. The result is part Eagle, Part Semi lightweight or low drag with widened arches and a race feel chrome bumper less example boasting a full roll cage and aluminium door cards that lean this towards track but could equally be softened with some carpeting and sound deadening to fast road. The original donor car was supplied to New York State in 1969 detailed in the British Heritage certificate and repatriated in 2015 back to the UK from the Beverley Hills Car club as found in a copy of the certificate of title alongside much of the original paperwork, which is still found in the history file. Our vendor, a skilled retired panel beater, purchased the car prior to the pandemic and the break in the worlds day to day jobs enabled him to take on and complete the project. Every panel has had some attention even if only to see the glass like new paint but features specifically such as the widened arches and deeper front set this apart from any regular restoration. The original, 4.2 litre engine having been rebuilt is largely standard but for triple Weber carburettors, alloy finned radiator, a one-off alloy header tank and braided hoses much supplied by RS Panels including bespoke LWE mud shields and stone guards. The wheels are 7€ Magnesium peg wheels to the front 8€ to the rear and hide larger 11 ¼ front discs so this stops as well as it goes and just encase coupled to the roll cage the car boasts Tillet Carbon GRP seats and TRS four-point harness. Supplied with a good history file with countless invoices from the build, coupled with its original book pack, Heritage certificate and UK V5 registration certificate. This example is light, fast and beautiful, one could say in its current state it is a piece of art and almost a shame to drive it in anger€¦but boy would we like to! Consignor Mathew Priddy
1959 BMW Isetta 300 Transmission: manualMileage:The Isetta is an Italian-designed microcar built under licence in a number of different countries including Germany and the United Kingdom. Produced in the post war years, at a time when cheap, short distance transportation was most needed, it became one of the most successful and influential city cars ever created. Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, it became known as a 'bubble car'; a name then later given to other similar vehicles. The Isetta was, in 1955, the world's first mass-produced car and was the top-selling single-cylinder car in the world with a total of 161,728 units sold. BMW made the Isetta its own, redesigning most of the car so much so that none of the parts between a BMW Isetta Moto Coupé and an Iso Isetta could be interchangeable. While it retained the 'Bubble Window' styling, the BMW version differed from the Italian model in that the headlamps were fixed separately to the sides of the bodywork and it carried the BMW badge below the windscreen. This example was built in Brighton under licence from BMW and was originally registered in the UK in September 1959. It is a little known fact that the left hand drive examples were actually marginally faster than their right hand drive counterparts, due to a 27kg counterweight added to right hand drive cars, to keep them balanced. Our vendor purchased this example from an enthusiast owner in May 2021, after always promising himself he would own one. The vendor is well versed in classic car restoration and in 2022, decided to refresh the paint and change it from its previous all yellow bodywork to the two tone Old English White with yellow colour scheme you see today. The work he carried out was completed to a very high standard and the car presents in excellent condition throughout. The grey with tartan interior also presents well. It's hard not to like an Isetta and this one is offered to auction with a very attractive estimate and can be enjoyed right away. The car is supplied with an extensive history file and a V5C registration document. Consignor Fraser Smith
1967 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Transmission: automaticMileage:50000The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 with their distinctive 'Pagoda' hardtop roof giving them their contemporary nickname. All models feature an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection using a mechanical pump system adapted from the diesel engine. All are rear-wheel drive and are equipped with independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. It made its debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where Technical Director Fritz Nallinger introduced it as follows, It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a high degree of travelling comfort. Mercedes-Benz Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut, who was as competent behind the wheel as most racing drivers, demonstrated the capabilities of the 230 SL on a tight short racetrack near Montreux in 1963 where he put up a best lap time of 47.5 seconds and, incidentally, out-performed Mike Parkes in his Ferrari 250GT.Originally registered on 1st January 1967 this delightful 230 SL Pagoda has been in our vendors tenure since October 2012. During his ownership the car has benefitted from regular servicing by renowned Marque specialist Roger Edwards of Amersham. Described as a very usable example, this classic Mercedes presents well in dark blue coachwork with a black leather interior. The car is offered to auction with a V5C Registration document, various bills and receipts and the all-important factory hardtop. Given the sensible estimate this car represents a good investment opportunity and offers tremendous fun. Consigned by Dominic Lake.
1964 Bentley S3 Continental Drophead MPW Transmission: automaticMileage:89236At the London Motor Show in 1959, Rolls-Royce Bentley Motors introduced their all-new 6.2-litre V8 engine with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II and Bentley S2 models. A classic configuration of pushrod overhead valves, central camshaft and crossflow heads, the block and cylinder heads were alloy, and the fuel mixture was delivered through two horizontal SU HD6 carburettors. A new development of the engine arrived in 1962 with the third generation S series, mounted on the Silver Cloud III and S3. The headlight styling of S3 Continentals earned them the sobriquet of 'Chinese Eye' models, or 'Chinese Lanterns', as referred to by Sir Elton John, one of the most famous owners of the model. Except for the adoption of quadruple headlights, it was difficult to differentiate at first glance between the S3 and previous models; however, there were numerous minor changes, one being a lower radiator shell resulting in a more pronounced shape in the bonnet line. The improved engine of the S3 delivered a compression ratio of 9:1, which resulted in 220 bhp and a top speed close to 120 mph. Yet the car still afforded four luxuriously upholstered seats and a power-operated top that was as shapely as any fixed head coupé on the market. Once lowered, the hood disappeared behind the rear seats; and the electric power windows and rear quarter-lights retracted to create the most elegant of open-top four-seaters. This is a car that glides effortlessly and with considerable grace wherever you choose to point it.To bring the design into full production, Park Ward relied heavily on the methods that they had used in aviation work with extensive use of welded steel for the frame and panels, thereby creating an extremely strong, single bodywork structure. The S3 Continental chassis was the swansong for the finest creative efforts of the specialist coachbuilders and was the last Bentley to have a separate chassis. The final chassis rolled off the production line in 1966 and the term 'Continental' was not then used on any subsequent Bentley model for decades. The Bentley S3 Continental drophead coupé is indeed a very rare vehicle. From a total production run of just 58, only 27 were made in right hand drive form.We are delighted to offer this extremely rare Bentley. Originally registered on 1st January 1964, the buff log book that is the file for this car, shows that the first owner was The Earl of Inchcape and was registered to his family home of Glenapp castle, Ballantrae, Ayrshire. Copies of the original build schedule show that this impressive car was ordered with a power hood, electric windows and luggage straps. Following several different owners, the car was purchased by enthusiast Mr. Peter Sayer in March 1993. The car is offered for sale following the unfortunate passing of Mr. Sayer. We are informed that although dry stored, the car has not been driven for several years and will require restoration, therefore buyers please be aware that this fabulous British classic is not able to be driven away from the auction and transport will be needed to take the car to its next destination. Offered without reserve and with a file that contains earlier sales invoices, bills of work and a V5C registration document 905 GYV is a rare opportunity to own such an important piece of automotive history. 1999 Bentley Arnage Green Label Transmission: automaticMileage:78000The Bentley Arnage was launched in 1998, a large luxury saloon car that replaced the previous Bentley Turbo saloon. Built by Bentley Motors in Crewe from 1998 to 2009, the Arnage and its Rolls-Royce sibling the Silver Seraph, were introduced in the Spring of 1998 and were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980 when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models were introduced. The Arnage Green Label was to be powered by a powerful BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered twin-turbo chargers. This handsome Bentley was registered in March 1999 and since then has covered less than 80,000 miles, an average of just over 3,000 miles per year. The car presents extremely well in Silver coachwork with recently Connollised parchment leather. The file for this classic British car contains a V5C registration document, a recently passed MoT test certificate and various bills and receipts for servicing work. These include invoices from marque specialist Silver Lady Services between 2012 and 2015 that total nearly £10,000. Recently recommissioned, this Bentley is offered at a fraction of its original cost and has even been professionally fitted with an LPG conversion to further reduce running costs. 1962 Triumph TR4 Transmission: manualMileage:75331Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two litre racing. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph. Today, the four-cylinder TRs are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists.Purchased new by Alan Bates, renowned Jazz record producer, impresario and the man who launched the career of Jamie Cullum, this TR4 is finished in red with black trim and first registered to Mr Bates on 14th June in 1962. Mr Bates had worked previously with Jimmy Hendrix, Tina Turner, and Otis Redding, while working for Polydor records, but in the late 60's we are informed by his daughter that he took this left-hand drive example to Paris where he lived and worked for several years opposite the Moulin Rouge, running Riverside Records before returning with the car to Southwest London where it remained. Sadly, after his passing in January 2023, the car was left to his wife and now owner of 2063 WK, who informs us that the car has been dry stored under covers in the family garage for about a decade, however, it was subject to an oil change and run in the summer of 2017 by Mr Bates nephew. Recently the car has been discovered, removed from the garage and sent to NVS for a light recommissioning, new oil, fuel and plugs all fitted and the car, although would benefit from further recommissioning should the buyer wish to use it on the road, it now starts and runs on the turn of the key and rolling freely however will be required to be trailered away. One can only imagine the people who have been passengers in 2063 WK and the events it would have been parked outside, a car Alan could not bare to part with throughout his life and was fondly remembered by his family, but for further recommissioning a wonderful sports car with a nice provenance and just one previous keeper. 1936 Singer Le Mans Special Speed Transmission: manualMileage:Singers started as a bicycle maker and ventured as a motor manufacturer in 1905. They expanded and became the main challenger to MG in the thirties producing British Sporting cars. In the early 30's Singer designed a small two-seater sports the Nine with a 972 cc capacity engine. This proved successful and they went larger by producing the 1.5 litre six-cylinder triple carburettor car which could travel at 70 mph and was timed at 103 mph at Le Mans.Singer set up their own competition department in March 1933 and success followed including Le Mans, Brooklands, TT and RAC Rally with their 1.5 litre cars. Later they were a major player in the trials that were enormously important in the 1930's; London, Exeter, Lands End, London Edinburgh and the Scottish six-day trials. Aside from Singers sports car success, Betty Haig drove her 1.5 litre example to Berlin in 1936 and won the Olympic Rally and came home with an Olympic Gold medal! This wonderfully restored example of the iconic Singer Le Mans Special Speed boasts its original 1.5 litre six-cylinder engine and is one of only 71 examples ever built. Offered in very good order throughout the Singer is presented in black coachwork with black wire wheels over an interior which boasts black leather seats and carpets and a wooden dashboard, and benefits from two spare wheels with fitted tyres mounted at the rear. Previously the subject of an extensive restoration the Singer has more recently been treated to significant engine work and is reported by the vendor to be in excellent running order, and indeed on our inspection the engine fired up on first turn and sounded fantastic! Accompanying the car is a sizeable history file including copies of the original sales specifications, recent invoices, photographs during a race meeting in period, and photographs of the restoration process. In very good condition throughout the Le Mans Special Speed is eligible for many motorsport events including the Flying Scotsman and the Le Mans Classic and can also be enjoyed on the open road! 1960 Bentley S2 Transmission: Mileage:108687The Bentley S2 Saloon and Continental models all received a shot in the arm in 1959 when introduced at London Motor Show, the Rolls-Royce/Bentley straight-six engine was replaced by an all-new aluminium V8 unit. The more muscular engine, producing approximately 200bhp, was designed primarily to deliver more torque, but it also allowed the company to deliver a product more in tune with its rivals in export markets. The 6230cc unit installed in the S2 was smoothly powerful and transformed the Bentley into a grand tourer capable of running silently at speed all day long. This handsome Bentley S2 was consigned to our classic auction in November 2023 but for personal reasons was sadly withdrawn. We are therefore delighted to now offer this striking car for sale. The S2 has rediscovered popularity in recent years with purists enjoying its combination of the masculine looks of the S1 with the V8 engine of the S3. This impressive example was purchased 31 years ago from the famous marque specialist 'The Chelsea Workshop' who have until recently maintained the car. The dealer sticker is still present in the rear window. The DVLA record for this well maintained Bentley shows only two owners in its 64 years on the road. This impressive car is offered to auction with a complete and original set of tools and toolkit including the factory supplied torch. Similar toolkits are available on the internet for £2,000! We are informed that 15 years ago this Bentley was treated to a bare metal, windows out respray to a very high standard by a specialist in Cornwall. The Pine Green paintwork is still in good order, the shut lines are excellent, and the doors close with a reassuring clunk. At this time the carpets were replaced, and the woodwork polished. Both are still in good order. The red leather interior appears to be original, and although worn, shows a tremendous patina. The chrome and brightwork is excellent. The under-bonnet area is very clean and the boot area is superb. There is also a complete set of tools including an original inspection torch. Although this fabulous Bentley hasn't seen much use recently, it has benefitted from re-commissioning and maintenance work at a cost of £4,000. This has included the fitting of new brake master cylinders, refurbished fuel pumps, new seals, new battery and a change of fluids. Unfortunately, a fire at a storage facility destroyed all the paperwork and invoices relating to this car however any prospective can see the obvious quality and genuine nature of this car.
1953 Austin A40 Sport Transmission: manualMileage:The Austin A40 Sports debuted at the 1949 London Motor Show at Earls Court as a four-passenger, aluminium-bodied convertible variant of the Austin A40 carrying an Austin of England nameplate, bearing Austin's Flying A hood ornament, and designed and manufactured in conjunction with Jensen Motors. Production of the A40 Sports, which was intended as a sporty touring car rather than a true sports car began in November 1950 for model year 1951. By the time production ended in 1953, just over 4,000 had been manufactured. This lovely example was first registered on 11th of May 1953, some 70 years ago. Presented in white with a black hood, contrasting red trim with white piping, this 1200cc sports convertible presents very well and is a great running example of 50's sports touring. 1953 was the final production year for the A40 Sport and our vendor has cherished the four-seat convertible and expressed it puts a smile not only on his face when driving but on that of people that he sees. The aluminium body makes this a surprisingly sprightly example which is a great summer classic and offers that iconic 50's style. Consignor Mathew Priddy
1986 BMW 320i Convertible by Baur Transmission: manualMileage:36500The 1985 BMW 318i Convertible by Baur is a rare and captivating classic car. Baur, a renowned German coachbuilder, transformed the BMW 3 Series into an elegant and stylish convertible. With its sleek lines and open-top design, it offers a unique driving experience. The 318i Convertible is powered by a 1.8 litre engine, providing a balance of performance and fuel efficiency. Its compact size and agile handling make it enjoyable to manoeuvre. The Baur conversion adds exclusivity to the BMW 318i, making it a sought-after collectible for enthusiasts who appreciate its distinctive blend of craftsmanship and open-air motoring. This rare BMW by Baur was originally registered on 30th October 1986 and in Silver. It has covered a low mileage of 36,500 which is believed to be correct. A desirable 2 litre manual example which we understand was painted in the 1990's and is now presented in white with a very good blue hood sitting on BBS style wheels. The interior trim befits the odometer reading and is well appointed in deep blue showing no heavy signs of wear and the carpets are in good order. The dashboard shows no cracking or marks and the roof mechanism works well. Having been 'garage found' recently and recommissioned, the vendor informs us that the car starts and runs, indeed it drives and appears in fair order. However, when it was sat for some time in a garage, the underside of the car requires some attention showing surface rust and requiring some work to the rear corners and upon inspection the car would require new inner sills and may require some welding. Overall, this delightful convertible is ideal for both summer motoring or long term investment post necessary works. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and without reserve this is a very desirable example for the BMW enthusiast. Consignor Mathew PriddyGuide Price £4,000-£7,000
1971 Porsche 911E Transmission: manualMileage:87800The Porsche 911 is the flagship car of the German manufacturer. It has a distinctive design, rear-engine, with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of competition and is among the most successful competition cars ever. The earliest edition of the 911 had a flat-six engine in the 'boxer' configuration, similar to the 356, air-cooled, rear-mounted and displaced 1991cc. It was mated to a four or five-speed manual 'Type 901' gearbox.Manufactured in October 1970 this 911E, originally shipped to the USA by Porsche Cars America where it was registered in 1971. Details from Mohr Sports Car Brokers indicate that the car when it left California for Belgium in 2014/15 had been fully restored and uprated, this included later green/black leather trim and an uprated engine to a 1973 2.4 litre S specification and was offered with the original engine in a crate with the sale. The original certificate of title from 2014 is still with the documentation and we can ascertain that the cars restoration included a repaint in the original 8080 paint code (Silver metallic), full retrim, gearbox rebuild and sports exhaust and Sekuritt glass all round with new chrome and very good panel gaps sitting on deep 6's Fuchs including the flat six spare wheel. The car was purchased by a Belgian whom then later that year offered the car for sale in this exact condition via the Hedingham Classics at the Castle auction at which our vendor purchased for £88,040. Belgian registered in 2015, under the skin was still the 2.4 litre uprated S specification engine with the original matching numbers engine, which was in need of rebuilding, giving the opportunity to return this car to its factory specification. After careful consideration he initially had the car fully retrimmed by Classic FX to original, as it would have left the showroom in 1971, including restoration of the genuine Recaro sports seats. Now invested in the car he took it to renowned specialists Redtek, air cooled 911 engine specialists, to fully rebuild and install the original engine to the car and fit new front and rear shock absorbers, all of which is supported by invoices in the history file. Since the full engine rebuild, which was under 1,000 miles ago (thus still considered being 'run in') the car has been maintained by Redtek/Nick Fulljames and presents as a fabulous example of a matching numbers fully restored 71 911E.Offered with original documentation from its purchase and export in 2014, through to all invoices from both Redtek and Classic FX coupled to an original 911E owner's manual, UK V5C and Porsche certificate of Authenticity, tool roll, jack and spare CDI box, this is a wonderful opportunity to own an iconic 911 in its factory specification, with viewing highly recommended. Consignor Mathew Priddy
1970 Porsche 911T Transmission: manualMileage:The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911 derived 935 which won the 24 Hours Le Mans and other major sports car races outright against prototypes. The 911T was the first Porsche to receive the new Bosch K-Jetronic or CIS engine (Continuous Injection System) from January 1973 onwards. Often referred to as 1973 1/2, these T models produced 140bhp and also boasted the newer type standard H pattern (915) gearbox which, in tandem, provided a smooth yet powerful engine and proved great fun to drive. A contemporary Car and Driver extended road test concluded the base spec 911T was the better touring car, with the two fuel injected models being more difficult to handle in traffic and filled with mechanical noises. This stunning left hand drive, 1970 Porsche 911T coupé came off the production line in December 1969 and was first registered in Los Angeles, specified with an optional Blaupunkt stereo, leather steering wheel, and 911S oil tank and instruments. Owned for many years by a Mr Greg Craven in North Carolina, the 911 was imported to Europe in 2014 where it was the subject of a full body and mechanical restoration costing circa 50,000 euros, undertaken by Classic Car Services, under the watchful eye of Noel de Block, one of the leading classic car specialists in Belgium. The opportunity was taken to change the colour from burgundy, to the Porsche colour of ivory white. A full photographic record of the work that was undertaken can be seen on the Classic Car Services website (https://classic-car-service.be/porsche-911-t-karmann-coupe-1969/) and shows the high standard that it was completed to. Subsequently the Porsche was owned by Robert van Weelde, who amongst other things, played cricket for his home nation of the Netherlands! In the current vendors ownership, the 911 has been dry stored and resides in his private collection. The vendor reports that the original 2.2 litre engine offers plenty of power and the 911 drives very well indeed. In fantastic condition throughout the paintwork and interior are in very good order as is the engine bay, and underside. Maintained regardless of cost and following the extensive restoration this wonderful example is ready to enjoy. Offered with a history file including its current UK V5C registration document, previous MoT records, sundry bills, a photographic gallery of the restoration, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming that it retains its original engine. A desirable five speed manual example of the early Porsche 911, fabulously presented. Consignor Daniel Godin
1991 Nissan Figaro Transmission: automaticMileage:65649The Nissan Figaro is a front engine, front wheel drive, two door, 2+2 convertible manufactured for model year 1991, and marketed in Japan at Nissan Cherry Stores. Initially a production run of only 8,000 units was planned, however demand was exceedingly high and after two increases in production schedules a total of 20,073 Figaros were manufactured, all in right hand drive format as they were intended solely for the Japanese market. Even with the greatly increased production numbers, demand was so high that potential purchasers had to enter a lottery to win the chance to buy one. Based on the Nissan Micra K10 platform, the Figaro features a turbocharged 980cc engine, mated to a three-speed automatic gearbox. As a fixed profile convertible, the upper side elements of the Figaro's bodywork remain fixed, while its fabric soft top retracts in conjunction with a solid panel with a glass heated rear window. This retro classic is presented in Emerald Green, being one of only four colours in which they were produced. It has ivory coloured seats with contrasting piping, air conditioning, CD player, chrome and Bakelite-style knobs, soft-feel paint on the dashboard top, chrome-trimmed speedometer with smaller inset gauges for fuel and engine temperature; and chrome-trimmed tachometer with inset clock. This super little car from the Japanese manufacturer is offered to auction with a V5C registration document, various bills and receipts and a fresh MoT test certificate and offers fantastic open top summer fun. 1936 MG PB Transmission: manualMileage:13872The MG P-type is a sports car that was produced from 1934 to 1936. This two-door sports car used an updated version of the Wolseley Motors-design and made overhead camshaft crossflow engine, previously fitted in the J-type Midget of 1932 to 1934, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed non-synchromesh gearbox. The PB produced from 1935 had a bigger 939 cc engine made by enlarging the bore from 57 to 60 mm and this increased the output to 43 bhp. Externally the versions are very similar, the main difference being the radiator grille, where the PA has a honeycomb and the PB has vertical slats. The other obvious difference is in the design and material of the standard dashboard. Just 526 examples of the PB were produced and in 1936 a supercharged MG PB driven by Andrew Hutchinson won the Limerick Grand Prix.First registered on 6th of February 1936 this PB is one of just 99 four-seat tourers manufactured by MG. The present owner purchased the car some nine years ago in 2014 and imported the vehicle back to the UK from Denmark, where it was exhibited in the Egeskov Classic Museum for over 12 years.Listed on the Triple M register €“ PB0631 /MMM867, since 2014 this example has been used regularly on regularity rallies (10) and charity tours (3) in the UK and Europe. Competitive results include three class wins in the RAC 1000 Mile Trial in 2015, 2016 and 2018 and overall winner of the Historic Endurance Rally Association (HERO) Summer Trial in 2019.In the last nine years over £40,000 has been spent on servicing and upgrades, much of this with pre-war MG specialist Andy King. Work done includes servicing and annual MoT's since 2017, and cylinder head and engine rebuilds including fitment of a Marshall type supercharger and a water pump, both options in 1936. 1956 Bentley S1 Transmission: automaticMileage:18857Successor to the R-Type, the Bentley S1 was introduced in 1955 with a whole new chassis; the car's wheelbase had been extended 3 to 123, and the luggage compartment was expanded. The S1 had softer suspension than the R-Type, with electrically controlled rear shock absorbers. Brakes had been improved, and the steering was lighter. This model marked the final integration of Bentley with Rolls-Royce - the standard saloons were now entirely alike, but for grilles and badging. The British Magazine, the Motor reported a top speed of 103 mph and 0-60 acceleration of 13.1 seconds from a short-wheelbase S1 in 1957.Copies of the factory build sheets show that this Bentley S1 Sports Saloon left the works in March 1956. It is finished in dark green with a beige hide interior and was sold new via Murkett Bros Ltd of Bedford to first owner Sir Ronald Stewart, owner and Chairman of the London Brick Company. The DVLA records for this handsome Bentley show that a further seven owners have enjoyed the car. A Mr. Clasen of Eaton terrace was the owner between 1995 and 2007 during which time he spent over £27,000 servicing the car with marque specialists Frank Dale and Stepsons. Works included an engine rebuild in 2002 at 86,896 miles, a stainless steel exhaust, a rebuild of the rear axle and differential, a brake system overhaul and a front suspension rebuild. A subsequent owner had a Harvey Bailey handling kit fitted and in 2016 this striking British classic benefitted from new inner and outer sills, lower wing sections and some repairs to the rear chassis legs. Presented to auction with a V5c Registration document, lots of service receipts and in spite of exemption due to age, a valid MOT test certificate. Consigned by Dominic Lake.
1987 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:108800Mercedes-Benz revived one of its most famous model designations of all time when it introduced the new 300 SL in 1985. However, on this occasion the newcomer was not a thinly disguised sports racer but the latest in a noble line of six-cylinder luxury Gran Turismos stretching back to the 230 SL of 1963 which was distinguished by its distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname 'Pagoda top'. When the Type 113 finally finished with the 280 SL in 1971, it was replaced by the V8 engined Type 107, there would not be a six-cylinder model in the range for a further nine years, this changed in 1980 with the launch of the new 280 SL. This used the same twin overhead camshaft engine as the other '280' models which gave 185bhp and a top speed of 127mph. When the 300 SL took over in 1985, it came with a single camshaft engine that produced a mere three horsepower more at the top end, the main gains over the superseded engine being a useful increase in torque and a marked reduction in fuel consumption. This lovely, UK supplied 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is presented in exceptional all-round condition, having been meticulously cared for and dry stored in a private collection for the past seven years and has only incurred minimal mileage. The paintwork finished in Champagne Gold with a matching hardtop is in very good condition throughout. The box pleated seats with eared headrests in supply perforated brown leather and is fitted with the optional rear seat in matching leather. The car has been fully maintained shown by the stamped service book with 23 stamps. Fully recommissioned in less than 1000 miles ago including the brakes fully serviced and reconditioned with new front callipers and new brake fluid. Fitted with 'Gullideckel' alloy wheels, this lovely 300 SL is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in May 2024, the owners' manual, fully stamped service book, a file containing the servicing invoices, two sets of keys and a updated Blaupunkt Memphis audio unit with Bluetooth connectivity. The timeless lines and design of the R107 SL series still looks elegant and contemporary, with this car's exceptional condition it is one to consider if looking for a very usable classic for the summer. 2012 Mini Cooper S Inspired by Goodwood Transmission: automaticMileage:36000The MINI Cooper S Inspired by Goodwood is a little known modern classic which amazed the automotive world when it was revealed in 2012. In a bid to create an ultra-luxurious version of the already excellent R56 generation MINI Cooper S, it was decided that MINI would utilise their relationship with Rolls-Royce (both companies being owned by BMW) and enlist the help of the design division at their Goodwood factory. The result was a MINI that featured a cashmere headlining, Rolls-Royce Connolly leather interior, Rolls-Royce exclusive burr walnut veneers and a piano black finish on the steering wheel and climate control buttons, along with a cost price when new in 2012 of £41,000! Just 1,000 cars were built, with only 119 cars built for the UK market. The exterior is finished in Rolls-Royce Diamond Black Metallic and the usual Cooper S bonnet scoop is non-existent. In all, the whole idea is very reminiscent of the Raford or Wood & Pickett Mini's of the 1960's and 1970's.The example we have here has been in the careful ownership of our vendor since January 2013, when the car had just 1,092 miles. It now presents in good order throughout, having covered less than 36,000 miles from new. The deep pile woollen floor mats were stored away to retain their condition, meaning they still present in excellent order. The car has been serviced eight times by MINI main dealerships, with the most recent service in August 2023 being carried out by an independent garage, local to our vendors home. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate, valid until September 2024. An ideal city car for those who like the finer things in life, or maybe one to tuck away as a future collector's piece, one thing which is for sure, is you are highly unlikely to bump into another Inspired by Goodwood edition MINI on the road. Offered to auction without reserve, this MINI is sure to generate some interest.Guide price: £15,000-£20,000
1959 Borgward Isabella Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:61090The Borgward Isabella Coupé stands as a captivating emblem of mid-century automotive design, exuding an elegant charm that has stood the test of time. Manufactured by the German automaker Borgward, the Isabella Coupé made its debut in an era marked by the pursuit of innovation and style. Boasting a distinctive two-door body, the coupé encapsulates the essence of European automotive aesthetics in the late 1950s. The car's exterior is a harmonious blend of curves and angles, with a graceful roofline that flows seamlessly into the rear wings. The chrome accents adorning the front grille and bumpers add a touch of sophistication, while the sleek, aerodynamic profile reflects the influence of the emerging space-age design trends of the time. Under the bonnet, the Isabella Coupé housed a robust four-cylinder engine, delivering a balance of performance and efficiency. The car's driving experience was characterized by a smooth suspension, making it a comfortable cruiser on both city streets and open roads. Inside the cabin, the attention to detail is evident in the carefully crafted dashboard and stylish instrumentation. The seats are designed for comfort, and the overall interior exudes a sense of refinement that complements the car's exterior aesthetics.Originally registered on 31st December 1959 this two-door coupé presents in delightful condition. The two-tone paintwork is in good order as is the grey interior. Little is known of the car for the first 40 years of its life however, it was rebuilt in 2000. The registration number of 6336 N appears to have been on the car from new and according to HPI records the car has had just three former keepers. Photographic evidence of the rebuild is available in the history folder. The car also benefits from 123 electronic ignition, a new starter motor, and rebuilt carburettors, a recent service and five new tyres. Presenting in right hand drive format, this Borgward has clearly been very well cared for in recent years and thoroughly enjoyed by the current vendor. With body styling reminiscent of a Karmann Ghia and an interior that features great ergonomics and retro-style instrumentation, it is easy to see why this Borgward represents a bygone era when automotive design was marked by a fusion of style and engineering prowess. Today, this classic beauty remains a sought-after collector's item, embodying the timeless allure of 1950s automotive craftsmanship.
1963 Austin Healey 3000 Mk.II BJ7 Transmission: manualMileage:59627The Healey 3000 represents one of the most graceful and yet powerful classic English sportscars ever produced. It started with the 100/4, subsequently enlarged to 2.6 litres in the 100/6 and finally the powerful incarnation, the three litre, 3000. All three incarnations looked superb and drove equally well hence their regular use within motorsport. Twin SU carburettors and front disc brakes combined to good effect, the car was well balanced and proved extremely popular. The BJ7 was a very advanced Healey 3000 with a more considered windscreen design, wind-up windows and a quick action folding roof. Most BJ7's found their way to American shores, with only 499 RHD examples being produced, of which this is one of the original UK supplied cars, making it a very rare beast. Our vendor has owned the car for circa 20 years and has thoroughly enjoyed it during his ownership. The car was extensively restored in the early 1990's, a comprehensive history file is supplied with the car, including various photos of the restoration process. The car has been upgraded with Weber 45DCOE carburettors, a stainless steel exhaust system and Kenlowe fan, it would be an ideal example for using on road tours and rallies. Being an older restoration, the bodywork could now be slightly improved in places, but if the car were to be used for touring and rallying, the body could certainly be left alone and the car could absolutely be enjoyed as it is. This Healey 3000 is supplied with a UK V5C registration document, MoT test certificate, BMIHT certificate and a good folder of invoices for various works over the years. Offered to auction with an attractive estimate, this example represents fantastic value. Consignor Fraser Smith
1990 BMW M5 Transmission: manualMileage:275473Just like the Jaguar Mk. II had done in the 1960's, the BMW M5, effectively reinvented the popular notion of a sports Saloon. Based on the E34 chassis which was produced at BMW's Dingolfing plant. The E34 generation of the M5 was produced from September 1988 to 1995. It was hand-built at BMW M GmbH in Garching, Germany. Assembly was carried out either by a single M employee or a team of M employees and generally took about two weeks. In the second half of 1991, engine displacement was increased to 3.8 litres with the S38B38. Power was now increased to 335bhp and the E34 M5 was the last M5 to feature an engine with a historical link to a BMW Motorsport racing engine. An E34 M5 was raced in the Australian 1992 Bathurst 12 Hour Production Car endurance race, placing 2nd overall and 1st in class. It was driven by former F1 champion Alan Jones, Neville Crichton and BMW Touring car driver, Tony Longhurst. This E34 M5 comes to us from a significant collector of classic cars. Presenting well with good black coachwork, the black leather interior is also in good order. Clearly this has been a well-cared for car taking into account the condition and the age of the car. We are advised she drives well although has been used sparingly of late. Having been imported from the Netherlands and in left hand drive guise, this BMW is UK registered, coming with a V5C registration document and we are advised will be presented for an MoT test prior to the auction. Few cars are as exciting to drive as an E34 M5, a saloon car with, by any standards, brisk performance. This is a well-presented example of one of the most iconic cars of the period. Massively successful in its first year, worldwide sales hit 55,000, over double the entire nine-year production of 190 SLs and between 1996 and 2004, over 311,000 SLKs were sold. The roof design consists of a folding steel hardtop with both halves linked by a mechanism which is locked securely when the roof is closed. 1964 Jaguar Mk. X (3.8 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:36000The Jaguar Mk. X was the top of the range saloon built by the British manufacturer primarily aimed at the US market. The unitary construction body-shell was codenamed 'Zenith' during development and this floor pan continued in production long after production ended. The interior was the last Jaguar with abundant standard woodwork, including the dashboard, escutcheons, window trim, a pair of large book-matched fold-out rear picnic tables and a front seat pull-out picnic table stowed beneath the instrument cluster. It was also the first Jaguar saloon to feature independent rear suspension and differed from earlier large Jaguar saloons in having 14 wheels instead of the more common 15. The car initially featured a 3,781cc version of Jaguar's XK in-line, six-cylinder engine. For the London Motor Show in October 1964, the enlarged 4,235cc unit took over although the 3.8 litre unit could still be specified until October 1965. Stopping power for this heavy car came from servo assisted disc-brakes on all four wheels; power assisted steering was standard.Presented in Silver metallic with sumptuous red full leather interior, this example was first registered on 1st August 1964 and specified with the rare and desirable manual with overdrive gearbox. Owned from new for some 43 years, this example has had just one former keeper. 2001 Maserati 3200GT Transmission: automaticMileage:65815The Maserati 3200 GT was styled by Italdesign whose founder and head, Giorgetto Giugiaro, previously designed, amongst others, the Ghibli, Bora and Merak and so certainly had the pedigree behind him. Sold mainly in Europe, the 3200GT shared the twin-turbo 3.2 litre, V8 featured in the Quattroporte IV and Shamal, revised and tuned to 365bhp. The tail lights consisted of LEDs arranged in the shape of a boomerang. The outer layer of the 'boomerang' provided the brake light, with the inner layer providing the directional indicator. Sadly, the U.S. insisted on bulbs and so, as is so often the way, style made way for bureaucracy. Nevertheless, it went on to be a great success until 2007 with the boomerang rear lights being the more desirable.First registered on 1st December 2001, this wonderful 3200GT presents incredibly well. The handsome blue metallic paint gleams and the cream interior appears unmarked. The vendor has owned the car since 2011 and has always kept it garaged in a dry de-humidified garage along with his other classic cars. Using it regularly throughout his ownership, the car remained one of his favourites. This can be seen by the fantastic history file that shows servicing invoices going back throughout the car's 22 year life. Every handbook is present along including the Maserati booklet cloth case. Cambelt changes have been on schedule at 28,000 miles, 60,000 miles and even again in 2022 at 65,000 miles, with the knock sensors being replaced in 2018. All work has been carried out by reputable companies such as Meridian Modena, Autostore and Giallo. The vendor, a fastidious man, always kept his cars in perfect working order and this 3200GT is testament to that.Supplied with a V5C registration document, full booklet pack and comprehensive service history file. This 3200GT presents beautifully and drives even better. Consigned by Will Penrose.Guide price £8,000-£12,000
1969 Morris Mini Mk. II Cooper S Transmission: manualMileage:31400Originally designed as a small affordable family car, the Mini quickly proved itself in many forms of motor sport. The most notable success was undoubtably the overall victory in the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally, the works Mini Cooper S ably piloted by Paddy Hopkirk with his navigator Henry Liddon. This victory, against considerably more powerful machinery, cemented the Mini's competition status. This stunning Mini Cooper S is presented in Almond Green with a Snowbury White roof. It was previously owned by two self-proclaimed Mini fanatics and restoring this car had become something of a passion, a read of the 1988 Restoring Classic Cars magazine charters their journey. Starting with a standard 1969 Cooper S the couple undertook a nut and bolt restoration with a twist. Although largely original, originality was never the goal in this project, the key was to fully future proof the car so much of the work was possibly unnecessary but an insistence on quality applied, something that can be seen some 35 years later! This car has certainly had plenty of expense lavished on it, now with a rebuilt 'A+' 1275cc inline-four engine driving the front wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox fitted in February 2018, at 27,400 miles after a rebuild to return the car to being a more relaxed road companion. The engine is currently running twin 1.5€ SU carburettors, CSI adjustable electronic ignition, and an open-road cam. Details can be found in the extensive history file stretching back over 35 years that begs to be read. Now running AVO adjustable shock absorbers and a rear anti-roll bar, while a free-flowing LCB manifold is complemented by a big-bore Maniflow exhaust. The braking system has been uprated to include vented discs, four-piston callipers and a remote servo. The headlamps have been converted to contemporary halogen units with LED side lights. The interior features black leather seats piped in green and Wood & Pickett period trim including tread-plates and chrome 'fly-off' handbrake. A modern stereo sits in the wooden dashboard. Recent expenditure includes new front discs and pads, Timken wheel bearings, new CV joints and front hubs. Although exempt, on the basis of age, the vehicle was MoT tested on 16 March 2022 at 31,301 miles when it received an advisory-free pass. Our vendor still tells us it is very fast for a mini, and would refer to it as a fast road spec but admitted it was an itch he had to scratch upon retirement to remember his own mini fondly. The car is in excellent condition and much can be accredited to the build by the Cotton's in the 80's though new sills and a rear subframe were fitted in the early 1990s. Having just 31,400 on the odometer and with such a detailed history, including a Heritage Certificate this is a fantastic 'fast road' Cooper S, offered ready to use and enjoy. Consignor Mathew Priddy.
UK-supplied P1 with just three owners and 22,768 miles from new. In outstanding condition and delightfully standard, the lowest mileage example of this JDM 'Royal Family' member that we have ever offered. Built at Subaru's Fuji Heavy Industries plant in Japan and honed by rally 'royalty', Prodrive, the Impreza P1 was always destined to become the hugely desirable modern classic that we rightfully see it as today. Built in a limited run of just 1,000 cars, every one featured the iconic Blue Mica paintwork, Anthracite 17" OZ racing wheels and a plethora of upgrades and unique features. It's easy to see why the P1 has gained such a cult following.Based on the two-door bodyshell, with the aerodynamics enhanced by Peter Stevens of McLaren F1 fame, beefier running gear and a fabulous suspension setup by Prodrive, the P1 has more in common with the legendary Impreza 22B than its larger four-door Impreza WRX contemporaries. Developed with British B-Roads in mind, by the very same company which helped the likes of Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Petter Solberg win World Rally Championships, the 'Prodrive One' was intended to counter the wave of 'grey import' STI Type Rs coming from Japan. The upgrades to the P1 were extensive but not intrusive. The list includes a more powerful 280bhp engine (up 69bhp from a standard Impreza Turbo) mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with longer gearing and ABS brakes meaning the difference between a standard Impreza and a P1 is minimal. Further upgrades include a big-bore exhaust, quick-shift gear linkage, 17" titanium-finish alloy wheels and a rally-proven suspension set-up. With the sprint from 0-60 taking just 4.66 seconds, the P1 certainly has the bite to match the bark. This remarkable example has only covered 23,188 miles from new in the hands of its three keepers and is unmodified, unrestored, and well specified from new. First registered through Showells Garage Subaru on 7th July 2000 to a Mr G. Drew, this P1 presents exceptionally well throughout. The first owner ensured this P1 had the desirable factory option upgraded 18" Prodrive wheels and Prodrive’s Big Front Brake kit, as well as assigning the Cherished Registration P4 SCC (included in the sale), which has been fitted since brand new, retaining original Showells Subaru dealer number plates, dealer sticker, and dealer tax disc holder.Mr Drew purchased the car new in July 2000 from Showells Garage Subaru and used it sparingly up until 2008 when he decided to take it off the road. A keeper change is recorded in April 2002 however the vehicle was still in the custody of Mr Drew, who continued ownership until April 2017.The new custodian moved this timepiece into climate-controlled indoor storage where it has remained since, with exception to mild recommissioning completed this year as detailed further below. The service records are impeccable, all stamped in the original service book at the following times:07/08/2000 – 1,068 miles - Showells Garage Subaru (the supplying dealer)06/03/2001 – 6,119 miles - Showells Garage Subaru03/08/2001 – 9,375 miles - Showells Garage Subaru11/02/2002 – 13,827 miles - Showells Garage Subaru11/04/2003 – 16,080 miles - Showells Garage Subaru11/06/2003 – 17,199 miles - Showells Garage Subaru10/06/2004 – 18,754 miles - Showells Garage Subaru16/06/2005 – 20,262 miles - Showells Garage Subaru08/06/2006 – 21,466 miles - Showells Garage Subaru17/04/2008 – 22,758 miles - Startin of Worcester Subaru05/05/2023 – 23,188 miles - Timing belt, aux belts, all fluids and filters replaced with a Subaru specialist, mostly OEM Subaru parts used, total cost £2,494.98.The rest of the history file makes for very pleasant viewing, including all Subaru books, service book, both Subaru keys, and both fobs.In May 2023, before starting the engine following the extended 15-year hibernation, it underwent a major service, including OEM Subaru timing belt and water pump replacement, all fluids and filters replaced, new aux belts, new battery, new brake pads, new exhaust centre section, new fuel pump, fresh fuel and fired into life on the first attempt. All work was completed by a Subaru specialist using OEM Subaru parts sourced from Roger Clark Motorsport where possible. The total cost of parts, labour, and general recommissioning was a reassuring £2,494.98 and the vehicle has only been driven for around ten miles since start-up and it drove beautifully, as expected for its low mileage. Additionally, it will come with a fresh MOT by the time of sale. It's hard to find an Impreza P1 in today’s market, regardless of condition, so to find such a great example, unrestored, unmodified, well-maintained and low miles is not far off mythical status! With soaring prices of Japanese Domestic Market cars, and 22Bs heading well north of £100,000 in recent years, this really smart P1 seems exceptionally good value, and is perfect for any discerning collector, enthusiast or purist.Specification Make: SUBARU Model: IMPREZA P1 Year: 2000 Chassis Number: JF1GM8KDGYG002804 Registration Number: P4 SSC Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 821662 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 23118 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Grey ClothClick here for more details and images
A genuine and substantially original Mini in need of some recommissioning and offered with No Reserve. Designed as project ADO15 (Austin Drawing Office project number 15), the Mini came about as a result because of the fuel shortage caused by the 1956 Suez Crisis. Petrol was once again rationed in the UK, sales of large cars slumped but the market for German 'bubble' cars boomed. Leonard Lord, the somewhat autocratic head of BMC, reportedly detested these cars so much that he vowed to rid the streets of them and design a 'proper miniature car'. Alec Issigonis had been working for Alvis, but had now been recruited back to BMC in 1955 and, with his skills in designing small cars, he was a natural for the task. The team that designed the Mini was remarkably small: along with Alec Issigonis, there was Jack Daniels (who had worked with him on the Morris Minor), Chris Kingham (who had been with him at Alvis), two engineering students and four draughtsmen. Together, by October 1957, they had designed and built the original prototype, which was affectionately named 'The Orange Box' because of its colour. The Mk1 Mini (only known as the Mk1 after the arrival of its successor) was the first version of BMC's Mini model and is characterised by its sliding windows, external door hinges and 'moustache' grille. In the UK, the Mk1 was produced between 1959 and 1967 at the Longbridge Plant near BMC's headquarters and was sold under both Austin and Morris marque names. The proposed engine size was originally 948cc, as used in the Morris Minor and Austin A35, however Leonard Lord thought that the 90mph top speed was excessive and thus reduced the engine size to 848cc, resulting in a more manageable speed (for the time) of 72mph!The car presented here is a 1963 Morris Mini Mk1 (848cc), chassis #MA2S4218353, first registered in September 1963. Being an early car, endearing features like the floor-starter and the 'magic wand' gear lever are all present and correct. With only three previous keepers, our vendor bought the car in 2012 from the widow of the preceding owner with an indicated mileage of 57,746, believed to be genuine - which seems wholly commensurate with its overall condition. We understand it to have been restored by the previous owner in the late 1990s, completed in time to enjoy the Mini’s 40th Anniversary in 1999. It's accompanied by a history file, is running and driving and still starts 'on the button', but it did fail an MOT in 2017 and has been in storage ever since.Obviously in need of some work, this charming British classic would make a very worthwhile project.Specification Make: MORRIS Model: MINI MK1 848CC Year: 1963 Chassis Number: MA2S4218353 Registration Number: 7442 KX Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 8AM-U-H598853 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images
One of only 80 right-hand drive examples of these contemporary classic Jaguars from SVO with just 71 miles from new - simply incredible. In 2012, nearly 40 years after the E-Type's demise, Jaguar finally got around to announcing the long-awaited and much-rumoured F-Type, which would turn out to be a more worthy spiritual successor to its illustrious forbearer than either the preceding XK8 or, before that, the XJS. A front-engined, rear-wheel drive two-seater, the F-Type is built on an aluminium chassis, cleverly configured to minimise the transmission of noise and vibration to the passenger compartment, while its suspension is the supercar-standard arrangement of double wishbones all round, with adaptive dampers and adjustable settings. Multiple driving modes cater for different road conditions and driving styles. Unlike the E-Type, the F-Type was available with a wide variety of different power plants, ranging from a turbocharged 2-litre four via a 3-litre turbo V6 to a supercharged 5-litre V8. A ZF 8-speed paddle-shift semi-automatic transmission was standard on all models at first, with a 6-speed manual available later on the V6. The F-Type debuted at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012 in convertible form, with the fixed head coupé following in 2014. Nowadays it is de rigeur for car stylists to reference past models in their latest creations and to some observers, the coupé's rear recalled that of one of the rarest of E-Types: the low-drag factory racer. To cater for the sports car market's seemingly insatiable appetite for limited edition models, Jaguar launched the 400 Sport – produced for just one year – and Project 7, which would be built in a run of only 250 cars. Project 7 had first seen the light of day as a single-seater concept car shown at Goodwood, and so favourable was the reception that it was decided to press ahead with making a more practical two-seater production version. They soon sold out, with 80 assigned to customers in the UK. The 'Project 7' designation referenced Jaguar's seven Le Mans wins, while the 'Aero Haunch' behind the driver's head was an obvious nod towards the D-Type sports-racer responsible for three of those victories. An aggressive looking shallow-screen 'barchetta', Project 7 has all-aluminium bodywork and is powered by the 5-litre supercharged V8, uprated to produce 567bhp, 25bhp more than in the F-Type R. Coupled with a 45kg weight reduction, this makes Project 7 the fastest accelerating F-Type yet, with a 0-60mph time of 3.8 seconds. Like many of the current crop of supercars, Project 7 is electronically limited to a top speed of 186mph. With the exhaust butterflies open (there's a special console switch), the car emits a superb growl-bark that turns into a magnificent crackle on the overrun. It's the one thing that makes you want to slow down. The 'top-end running gear' includes the 8-speed paddle-shift auto 'box, electronic differential, carbon ceramic brakes, specially tuned suspension and unique settings for engine management and chassis stability control. SVO engineers also rebalanced and improved the car's rear-biased aerodynamic downforce by fitting side skirts and a large front splitter, while slightly reducing the effectiveness (and drag) of the boot lid wing. The result of Project 7's unique set of characteristics is a track-focused car capable of satisfying even the quickest of drivers. The car presented here is a 2015 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 with only 71 miles recorded so, effectively, a 'new' car. Acquired by our car-enthusiast vendor to form part of his Collection, it was supplied by Lancaster Jaguar of Sevenoaks, finished in the rather striking special order hue of Ultra Blue with a triple white stripe across the nose and was first registered on 24th December 2015.It sits on a set of special order, bright-forged, 20" Storm Black diamond-turned alloy wheels in front of bright yellow calipers. The car was optioned from new with Project 7 illuminated tread plates, four-point racing harnesses (on its Jet Black sports seats) and was supplied with a bespoke car cover, a scale model example, a leather hood bag, two keys and an immobiliser. It's fitted with the 'Jaguar Project 7 - one of 250' plaque and is accompanied by the rather lavish Dealer Book Pack containing its Certificate of Authenticity.Despite its micro-mileage, the car has been serviced by Lancaster Jaguar on 11th September 2017 (as their 16,000-mile service interval), again on 9th September 2021 at 70 miles (as their 48,000-mile service interval), again on 28th October 2022 at 70 miles (as their 80,000-mile service interval) and lastly on 23rd July 2023 at 70 miles. As you can imagine, this car's condition is simply spectacular. A genuine road-going Manta 400, one of 245, wonderful condition and superbly original having escaped any form of competition. The story of the Opel Manta 400 is a familiar one to anyone who was a follower of the crazy days of 'Group B' rallying and their sibling road cars built by the major manufacturers in whatever 'homologation' quantity was required. Developed from its Ascona predecessor, the Manta was always popular with the crowds - lots of power, not much weight and a propensity to attack stages sideways. However by the time it was ready to rally, the game had moved on, the Audi Quattro showing the rest of the field that four-wheel drive was going to be a requirement in the WRC. Nevertheless, that didn't stop the Manta from achieving cult hero status on British and European stages, with its raspy sound, lively handling and iconic liveries, the Andrews Heat for Hire with Russell Brookes and Mike Broad being a particular favourite and winning over a lot of fans. The 'homologation' Manta road car was named '400' because that was the number of examples of the old Ascona that were required by the regulations at the time, however when the Manta was ready to compete, only 200 road cars were required and, having built a total of 245 examples of the Manta 400, production ceased. Even 40 years ago, then, it was a very rare car. The notable mechanical upgrade was a Cosworth head for the 2.4-litre engine (originally meant to be 2-litre, but that wasn’t powerful enough), although it was the looks that really made the Manta stand out as a road car. The white-on-white colour scheme with '400' decals, the bulked-up arches for wider tracks, the incredible Irmscher interior and the battery of fog lights all look just as good now as they did in the 1980s. We are proud to offer this rare and genuine Opel Manta 400 which probably holds the mantle as the most enigmatic variant of the 1980s and is one of the rare, early examples with the distinctive 'twin slot' front air vents. It has covered just 59,026km (36,680 miles) from new and presents superbly, having escaped any form of competition, making it an ideal Collection candidate. It was delivered new to its first Belgian owner by his local Opel Sport and Irmscher Dealer and the history file includes photographs of the owner at the Opel Homologation meeting at Russelsheim in Germany with Works driver, Walter Rohrl, in the group, standing by the car. The Manta was owned by him until the late 1980s before being sold to a Dutch Collector who then passed it on to our first UK-owner in 1995. It was driven by him for just one kilometre before going into storage for 14 years. In 2010, the car received a very light recommissioning and changed hands again in 2015 to another collector. After eight years, this super original Opel Manta is ready for the next chapter of its ownership story.Together with the full backstory and timeline, the history file contains the original factory invoice. The car retains its original engine, black-backed interior, original and correct offset wheels (fronts ET23 and rears ET3), all original bodywork and panels and certainly appears totally correct, very rare. With a recent checkover and new MOT, this lovely 1980s time-warp homologation special is a must for any collection of significant rally-related road cars or can just be enjoyed as a fabulous modern classic in its own right.Specification Make: OPEL Model: MANTA Year: 1982 Chassis Number: W0L000058C6060720 Registration Number: UCW 614X Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 800040 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 59033 KM Make: LHDClick here for more details and images
A fully restored, matching numbers example finished to an outstanding level. When the Escort was relaunched as the Mk 2 in 1975, Ford were keen not to lose any momentum on the sportier versions of the standard saloon and almost immediately made an RS Mexico version available. Produced in Saarlouis, West Germany, the Escort RS Mexico was built between 1975-1978 replacing its Mk I namesake. Only around 2,500 were manufactured and the specification was similar to the earlier car with a 1,600cc engine, this time utilising the overhead-cam Pinto unit. It featured an aluminium sump, engine mounts, alternator bracket and a cast iron manifold. The gearbox was the 4-speed Type-B unit mated to the 'English' type rear axle. Suspension was the ubiquitous McPherson-strut set up with Sachs Dampers and rear leaf springs. RS Mexicos were fitted with either 5.5" x 13" steel wheels or alloy 4-spoke 6J x 13". Standard OE fit tyres were Pirelli CN36s. The car's performance was excellent and, together with great handling, made the Escort the car to beat in the World Rally Championship, with the 'flat front' Escort becoming the most recognisable rally car of the era.Fresh from an exacting professional restoration, this particular matching numbers Escort Mexico has undergone a complete rebuild from a bare shell upwards with the emphasis on originality. Every single component has received attention, including a total mechanical overhaul, with the 1,600cc overhead-cam Pinto engine and matching gearbox being rebuilt by Ridgeway Racing Engines.Superbly finished in its original shade of Diamond White, the classic black interior has been refurbished by Aldridge Trimming and features 'roll-top' Recaro front seats, the original 3-spoke RS steering wheel and Mexico-specific, white-needle clocks. It’s accompanied by a comprehensive history file containing previous registration documents, tax discs, older MOT Certificates and photographs and invoices relating to the restoration and it’s pleasing to note that the registration number assigned, ODW 707R, has been with the Escort since its first day on the road. With everything having recently been completed and just 50 shake-down miles covered since, we suggest that a careful period of running-in is followed to obtain the very best from this increasingly valuable, rally-inspired, 1970s Fast Ford. With just 2,500 examples produced between November 1975 and July 1978, few remain in their original specification, with so many being modified and altered to achieve increased power outputs or a more aggressive stance, making this stunning example a rare beast indeed. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT MK2 Year: 1976 Chassis Number: GCATSC18594 Registration Number: ODW 707R Transmission: Manual Engine Number: SC18594 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: GreyClick here for more details and images
#111 of the final run of 300 German-manufactured, right-hand drive Beetles, finished in Diamond Silver and in wonderful condition. Offered with No Reserve. The Volkswagen Beetle enjoyed staggering success for many years, and in 1972 became the best-selling car to date, with total production worldwide exceeding 15,000,000 vehicles. However, by that time, the Beetle was starting to seem dated compared with much of the modern competition and sales were flagging. In an attempt to maintain interest, Volkswagen produced numerous special edition models during the final years of European production. These included the Jeans Beetle, City Beetle, Sun Bug and Marathon Beetle, to name just a few. Despite these efforts, the Beetle was now effectively past its 'sell-by-date' with sales continuing to decline and the last European-built car left the production line in Emden, Germany on the 19th January 1978, immediately taking early retirement in the Wolfsburg Auto Museum. In 1978, to mark the occasion, the final run of 300 German-manufactured right-hand drive Beetles were all finished in the very special Diamond Silver (L97A) paint colour; they were also all fitted with a 1,200cc engine (the most famous of all), blue-corded velour trim, a flat windscreen (as a nod to the past), heated rear window, fresh air blower and a handbrake dash-light. Finally, a dashboard-mounted plaque stated the vehicle's number in the sequence. The car presented here, example #111, is known throughout the VW owners club and features on the official LEB register. Reading an unwarranted mileage of just over 10,000, #111 was the subject of a sympathetic restoration between 2011-2013 and is in lovely condition. The Jubilee Silver paintwork is bright, and the interior is immaculate. All brightwork and chrome are 'as new', the glass is original and the engine bay is tidy. The car has formed part of a small private Collection since 2015, being driven only occasionally, MOT’d and maintained well and several invoices detailing expenditure and a 2015 service by respected VW specialist ‘Veedubs’ are present in the accompanying history file. The LEB was produced in smaller numbers than any previous special-edition Beetle and, in our opinion, is a very significant collector's car or would make an ideal first classic for an enthusiast at a most reasonable outlay.Specification Make: VOLKSWAGEN Model: BEETLE LAST EDITION Year: 1978 Chassis Number: 1182007277 Registration Number: YTA 167S Transmission: Manual Engine Number: D1417446 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 10000 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

1992 Ford Fiesta 1.2Reg. no. K646 NAMChassis no. SFABXXBAFBND67663Engine no. ND67663Transmission: ManualMileage: 87,315MOT: Expired at the end of 2022, Ford announced that it was going to end the long running production of its small hatchback, the Ford Fiesta. A car that has firmly been intrenched in British culture for decades and a car that was used by many families as a day-to-day runaround.Originally supplied by Nortree of Melksham, this 1992, three door, third generation 1.2-litre was lovingly restored back in 2017, having been in current ownership since 1997. Over £6,000 was spent ensuring the body and paint were in good order as well as the wheels being refurbished with fresh tyres fitted. The mechanicals were also overhauled at the same time. The car still presents very well six years later and has covered a total of 87,000 miles. The cloth interior looks almost factory-fresh with unmarked dash and clean carpets. The only issue we can point out is that the battery is not charging due to the car being unused for some time, so it will require a replacement prior to use. Once jumped, the car runs and drives exactly as you would expect for a recently restored vehicle. This car is to be sold with a V5C as well as a large amount of service history including old MOTs, service and maintenance bills. The original wallet and handbooks are also included.Estimate: £3,000 - 4,000Vehicles that are un-registered or on foreign plates may require Import Duty and Vat to be paid upon purchase via HMRC prior to registering with the DVLA for a UK plate, if you are not sure please ask. For classic cars over 30 years this equates to 5% Duty on the final value. For cars described as MOT exempt (pre-1983) these vehicles may need their exemption registered with the DVLA.
Superbly presented and fastidiously prepared, this fabulous little Alfa is FIA-papered until 2033, offering exciting racing at some of Europe's most prestigious events for years to come. Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia Spider in June 1962, being a development of the Giulietta Spider but now with a 1,570cc engine and a 5-speed gearbox. The Spider bodies were designed and built by Pininfarina in Turin and the cars were assembled by Alfa Romeo in Milan. The Veloce version used twin Weber carburettors and hotter camshafts than the Normale to produce around 129bhp.This exceptionally rare 101 Spider Veloce was originally dispatched to Germany, equipped with the highly coveted 1,600 engine from the factory. Transitioned into a racing machine in the 1990s, it embarked on a successful and meticulously documented competitive journey, culminating in a recent comprehensive professional rebuild, leaving no nut or bolt untouched. In the skilled hands of Dr. R Schimmer of Dusseldorf, the Alfa underwent its transformation into a race car, gracing tracks across Europe including Spa, Zolder, Zandvoort, Brno, Hockenheim and the formidable Nordschleife, where it secured an impressive ninth place overall among 185 contenders in the Eifelklassik. Notably, it triumphed at Monza in the 2010 Coppa Intereuropa, starting from the very back of the grid.Acquired by its current custodian in 2021, it underwent a comprehensive overhaul, with attention to the rear axle, carburettors, gearbox and wiring. Engineered for reliability, it has never faltered in over 16 hours of relentless racing since its rejuvenation, looked after by Alficina, who are happy to provide race support in the future. The Alfa boasts an impressive track record, as evidenced by its achievements seen below:2022:Equipe GTS – Silverstone – First in classCSCC Classic K – Silverstone – Second in classHRDC – Silverstone – Third in Monza class2023:Donington Historic HRDC – Second in classEquipe GTS – Brands GP – Fifth in classHSCC Road Sports – Donington – First in classAlfa Revival Cup – Monza – First in GTS classEquipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Saturday) (with Roberto Giordanelli)Equipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Sunday)HRDC – Brands Hatch – Second in Monza class (Grant Williams)HRDC - Silverstone - Third in Monza classSuperbly presented, the Alfa commands attention wherever it roams, its rarity securing invitations to premier events. Raced by two giants of British saloon car racing, initially in Production Saloons and now 'Group 1', this well-known Autoplan Warranties 3.0 S Capri has amassed a trophy cabinet full of wins over the last four decades and is now on offer with a new set of FIA papers. A slightly tongue-in-cheek suggestion by Roger Williamson, proprietor of Willhire Vehicle Rentals in Norfolk, resulted in the arrival on the club motor racing scene of the Willhire 24 Hours, an endurance race for production cars and Britain’s first 24-hour motor race. The event was staged every year between 1980 and 1994 at Snetterton Circuit, becoming known simply as 'The Willhire', and there can’t be many drivers at club and national level during those years that didn’t get involved at least once. Many Willhire winners went on to enjoy success in other forms of motor sport and we are proud to mention that our own Lionel Abbott won the race twice, firstly in 1986 with Mike Smith (the first two-driver team to win the race) and in 1988 with Graham Scarborough. It was initially assumed that a production car being hammered around Snetterton for 24 hours would self-destruct and so, for the first two years, it was a team event with up to four cars used, however the survival rate was surprisingly good and, from 1983 onwards, it became an individual event with cars shared by between two and six drivers. The Capri on offer today is a 1981 3.0 S that was originally built from a Ford-supplied trimmed body shell for the 1981 production saloon car championships. With funding from Autoplan Warranties, it was put together by Roger Dowson of Gerry Marshal Racing (prior to Roger forming Roger Dowson Engineering) and was finished just in time for the Willhire, where the ebullient Gerald Marshall and the equally quick but considerably better behaved Graham Scarborough co-drove the car to second place in that race. Gerry continued to race the car for the rest of the season winning every race entered and both Production Saloon Car Championships (BARC and BRSCC). At the end of the year, Gerry sold the car to Harold Hagan in Ireland, where it continued to race with much success. Some 15 years later, in late 1996, Graham Scarborough bought the car, still in it’s original Autoplan livery, and set about fully stripping it and rebuilding the Capri to 'Group 1' specification in order to compete in the Classic Saloon Car Club Pre-83 'Group 1' Championships. Graham’s well known standards of preparation and his undoubted ability behind the wheel resulted in years of success including many wins, dozens of class wins plus the Championships outright in 1998 and 1999 and the Class in 2000 and 2001. The car was well known at Spa, enjoying many successful visits up to its last outing there at the end of 2016.The Graham Scarborough-built 'Group 1' engine was refreshed in 2018 and was set up on Neil Brown’s dyno late in 2021 having done just three races and not used since. A new clutch has been fitted which transmits through to an original Hewland 'Group 1' close-ratio gearbox and an Atlas 3.44 ratio rear axle. More recently, the car has benefitted from a thorough refresh with the paintwork and period livery being restored to a very high standard. The car is well set up and well balanced with Bilstein dampers all round. The Capri is complete with recently issued FIA/HTP papers valid for ten years, making it eligible for Legends, Goodwood Members' Gordon Spice Trophy, Classic Touring Car Club (CTCRC) and the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) Gerry Marshall Trophy.Well known, much admired and superbly prepared, the 'Autoplan Capri' has always proven to be a very fast and very reliable front-running car and, in the right hands, should continue to be a winner.Specification Make: FORD Model: CAPRI Year: 1981 Chassis Number: N/A Registration Number: N/A Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images
A rare and desirable Mk1 Capri 3000GT superbly modified for fast road, sprint or hill climb events. Ford's European pony car - inspired by the legendary Mustang and immortalised by the TV detective series 'The Professionals', the Capri has a special place in many a car enthusiast's heart. MKI production ran from 1969 to 1974 and it was towards the end of the first year that the sporty 3000GT joined the range. Powered by the 2,994cc V6 'Essex' powerplant, it harboured 138bhp under its lengthy bonnet, sufficient for a 0-60mph time of 9.5 seconds and a 110mph top speed which was Jaguar Mk 2 territory at the time. There are believed to be just 31 Ford Capri 3000GTs currently road-registered in the UK, with a few more on SORN with this particular example, standing out from the crowd and almost certainly unique. Modified and uprated some years ago to an enviable standard and now powered by a turbocharged and injected 3.1-litre Essex V6 driving through a 5-speed Borg Warner T5 gearbox. The additional specification is impressive (a full list available upon request) and includes an aluminium bell housing, Pace custom alloy radiator, Weber Alpha engine management, uprated suspension and enhanced braking, a full roll cage and the instantly recognisable 'Cologne' front and rear arches all rolling on 15" Compomotive CX split-rim alloy wheels shod with Toyo R888 tyres. The Capri presents superbly finished in Sebring Red with RS3100 graphics and the engine bay is almost 'show standard'. The black interior is equally impressive with 'fishnet' Recaro bucket seats, Sabelt full harnesses and a classic RS 4-spoke wheel.Fully UK-registered, this Capri can be enjoyed as intended out on the open road or, as of late, pressed into action as a sprint or hill climb car with the option to drive to the event should you wish. Well prepared and beautifully presented, this remarkable 'stepfront' racer has been campaigned extensively for many seasons with much success. Released in September 1963 at Alfa's newly opened Arese plant, later displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the same month, the Giulia Sprint GT was the first Giulia sport model in the Tipo 105 line-up. The styling was entrusted to the then 22-year-old Giorgetto Giugiaro, but with two Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Special Bertone’s and Alfa Romeo’s 2000 and 2600 Sprints already behind him, it’s easy to see that the car's looks were in capable hands and the 105 is regarded as one of his finest commercial efforts. The balance of glass and metal, the influence of the front and rear screens on the shape of the cabin and the flat grille with incorporated headlamps were all considered ground-breaking styling features of the era and the model became known as the Scalino or 'Stepfront' due to the bonnet sitting one centimetre above the nose of the car to allow for improved cooling. This venerable 'stepfront' Giulia Sprint GT racer has been very successful in both major disciplines of motorsport over many years. The first chapter of its competition life began when it became the outright winner of the HRCR's Safety Devices Historic Rally Challenge for pre-1967 classics which combined both road and special stage disciplines. It was restored by Nigel Shapland and spent the rest of the 1990s rallying in the hands of Paul Merryweather and Jeremy Lewis.Purchased by our vendor in 2005, the second chapter of its motorsport career saw it prepared for circuit racing by renowned specialists, GTS Motorsport. It was built to full FIA specification (the papers now need renewing) with a 1,600cc race engine to Appendix K specification, a Gripper differential, GKN Driveline race prop-shaft, an 80-litre alloy foam-filled fuel tank, Safety Devices roll cage, full stainless exhaust system by Alfaholics and a lightweight battery and starter motor. The safety equipment includes a Sparco Pro 200 seat, Lifeline Zero 360 Electric Extinguisher and TRS Belts. This handsome 'stepfront' has been campaigned by our vendor for over 16 seasons, taking on the best events and racing extensively in the UK, Europe and the USA, accumulating many class wins. It has competed in the Masters Series/U2TC/HSCC/HRDC/CSCC/Silverstone Festival (formerly the Silverstone Classic)/Alfa Revival Cup/Donington Historic Festival/Coppa Intereuropa Monza (three times), Daytona Rolex Championship and is very well known at both the Goodwood Revival and Members Meets, where it has been shared with such luminaries as Arturo Merzario, David Leslie and Tom Shephard. Full race preparation, rebuilds and race support were provided by experts GTS Motorsport. The history file includes some original registration documents, the current V5C, many previous MOTs, its RAC Historic Rally Vehicle papers, the RAC Competition Log Book and the expired FIA Historic Papers. A lot of set-up data will be available to the new owner.Offered at a very attractive estimate, this well travelled little Alfa is ready for the next chapter of its competition life and we can't think of another so well qualified and with such a distinguished motorsport history.Specification Make: ALFA ROMEO Model: GIULIA SPRINT GT Year: 1964 Chassis Number: AB51528 Registration Number: FUR 448B Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 0050206503 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
A delightful example of Alfa's diminutive sporting coupé, sympathetically prepared for Historic Road Rallies. Following the ravages of war, Alfa Romeo regrouped, equipping their rebuilt factories with up-to-the-minute machinery to enable them once again to become a major manufacturer on the world stage. An all-new business plan was devised to move the company into mass production and the 1,290cc Giulietta emerged to fulfil those ambitions. In best Alfa Romeo tradition, a twin overhead-camshaft engine was to power the new model, the smallest engine size ever offered by the company but yet, in standard form, developing just shy of 80bhp. Although offered as a four-door saloon, it was the Bertone-styled Giulietta Sprint which captured the Italian sporting motorists' heart with its neat and functional styling looking good from absolutely every angle.Right from the start, the Giulietta Sprint Coupé was appreciated by drivers who recognised its potential for competition success. With its unitary construction, independent front suspension, well-located live axle and coil springs/hydraulic dampers all round, it handled better than anything else in period and was only held back by a lack of power and being a touch heavy. To address this, Alfa introduced a more powerful (90bhp) and lighter version, the Giuiletta Sprint Veloce. To reduce the Veloce's weight, Bertone used thinner steel for non load-bearing panels, the insulation was removed and the doors, bonnet and boot lid were made of aluminium as were the bumpers, 'eyebrows', whiskers and headlight rims. The combination of a rev-happy engine, fine-handling, responsive chassis and excellent brakes made the Sprint Veloce a drivers' car par excellence and explains why these stylish Alfas continue to attract the discerning enthusiast.First registered in the UK in May 1997, this 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce is a fine example of the classic Italian coupé, which has been converted to historic rally-specification. Our vendors purchased the Alfa from John Williams Classics in 2003 with some rally upgrades already in place and they continued its modification for use in long-distance regularity events. It’s powered by a replacement 1.3-litre, twin-cam, inline four-cylinder engine which was built by the Dutch Alfa specialists, Autogroep Sam Lingen. The car's original engine which has been rebuilt, confirmed by an Engineer's Report is available by separate negotiation. The extensive work to bring the car up to the standard our vendors required included quick-release bonnet hinges and locks, body shell respray in Rosso Alfa, full Safety Devices roll-cage, 5-speed gearbox, underside plates/guards for the engine, gearbox and differential, Recaro rally sport seats, Schroth four-point racing harnesses, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, reconfigured centre console, instruments refurbished, Brantz rally meter, fuel and brake lines re-routed inside the car, dual fuel pumps, dual coils, external oil filter, oil cooler, brake servo, alternator and an electric fan. It’s accompanied by a copy of the original handbook, a selection of maintenance invoices, its lapsed FIA Historic Vehicle Identity certification, FIVA identity card, a copy period brochure, the V5C and its current MOT valid until 25th April 2024.We understand that this charming Giulietta has performed faultlessly over the years, competing in many European historic road rallies and has been maintained to the highest standards regardless of cost. A classic 1950s Alfa that would be welcome anywhere.Specification Make: ALFA ROMEO Model: GIULETTA SPRINT VELOCE Year: 1958 Chassis Number: 1493-06913 Registration Number: YSY 556 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 31503 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 1567 Miles Make: LHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Original 'Save the Clock Tower' flyer from Robert Zemeckis' time travel adventure, Back to the Future. In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the '50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown. Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Jennifer (Claudia Wells) received these flyers from the Hill Valley Preservation Society. This yellow and black printed flyer bears the header "Save the Clock Tower" and includes a photocopy of a Hill Valley Telegraph newspaper article titled" Clock Tower Struck by Lightning." The article recounts the events witnessed by McFly in 1955. Maintaining an excellent overall condition with minimal indications of wear from both production use and age. The dimensions of the flyer are 11" x 8.5" (28 cm x 21.5 cm). A Certificate of Authenticity from Studio Auctions accompanies the item.
