Newcastle upon Tyne: mid 19th century walnut and brass inlaid drop dial wall clock, with a single fusee movement, a circular painted dial with Roman numerals within an octagonal surround, above a viewing glass, flanked by floral carved brackets, inspection doors to each side and underside, with pendulum, 56cms high.
A large and impressive early 20th Century carved walnut quarter chiming longcase clock with J. J. Elliott movement, the decorative silvered arched dial plate overlaid with pierced brass fretwork decoration, the silvered chapter ring with Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial to centre, strike/silent lever at 9 o'clock, the arch with Chime/Silent and Westminster/Whittington/St Michael dials, the substantial three train movement with deadbeat escapement playing on eight tubes and another single tube, all contained in a elaborate mahogany case of neoclassical design, the hood with a swan neck pediment flanking a central ribbon wreath, the arched glass surrounded by floral moulding to the canted corners with pierced sound grills to each side, the case adorned with swags over the long bevelled glass door between two reeded corinthian columns, above the box base with a highly carved panel depicting flowers in a vase, on bun feet, with pendulum and three weights, 53 x 37 x 242cms high.
