A small collection of hallmarked silver pocket knives comprising an engine turned example with knives, hook and corkscrew, a similar bright cut example, a smaller scrolling example, an example with edged leaf and scrolls and a small example with circular beaded motif and a small hallmarked silver folding button hook (6).
VINTAGE CORKSCREW the pointed horn handle having metal end cap with spike, steel screw; WMF ART NOUVEAU COPPER CIRCULAR DISH repousse with a leaping fish from a scrolled wave, 5 1/4" (13.3cm) diameter with ostrich trademark; a PAPERKNIFE, a FRUIT KNIFE with mother of pearl handle, crested and NINE BRASS MILITARY BUTTONS
1st-2nd century AD. A bronze military standard finial of an eagle with wings spread, holding in its claws a square-section block with corkscrew ends symbolising thunder; the forward face inscribed 'VII'; block and tail pierced for attachment. Legio VII existed in several forms during its history. Legio VII Claudia Pia Fidelis took part in Caesar's invasion of Gaul in 58 BC. Legio Septima Claudia was raised in Spain and took part in the Roman operations in Gaul. Legio Septima Gemina was founded in 68 AD in Spain by the general Galba to take part in his rebellion against the emperor Nero. Very fine condition. Rare.
