1931 Austin Seven (Crank Handle Cabriolet)Coachwork by TickfordRegistration no. FO 2847Chassis no. 141590Odometer reading: N/AMOT Expiry: N/A *Rare coach-built Tickford example*Restored in 1990 and recently in 2014*Detailed service historyFootnotes:The Austin 7 was a revolutionary car not just for the British automotive market but also for the company itself. Produced between 1922 and 1939, the 7 was Austin's first small car and sold in record numbers. Once production had wound up in 1939 over 290,000 had been sold, completely changing British car market and outselling many of its competitors. This 1931 Seven is an exceptionally rare coach-built Tickford example and is presented in very good overall condition. Two restorations have been undertaken during its lifetime, once in 1990 and again in 2014. The engine has also been completely rebuilt and now features a Phoenix crankshaft and high compression cylinder head. This is a well maintained example that includes a detailed, hand written service history. The wheels and tyres are also in good condition and have plenty of tread, with recent works including renewed front brakes and a new starter ring gear fitted. Overall this is a lovely well-cared for example and it is believed that there are only a handful of Tickford built Sevens left, so this is an opportunity not to be missed.Vendor Score Total: 73/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. BERKOWITZ DAVID: (1953- ) American Serial Killer and Arsonist, known as Son of Sam. A.L.S., Hobo Dave, four pages, 4to, n.p. (Sullivan Correctional Facility, Fallsburg, New York), 22nd January 1988, to Pete Connolly. Berkowitz states that he has received his correspondent's letter and photographs, commenting 'I see you're relaxing as usual on a comfortable bed of nails. I sleep on something similar.' He continues to ask 'Who the heck is Roland the Commie? He doesn't look like a communist guerilla at all. To be honest with you, he looks like a momma's boy instead of a partisan freedom fighter.' and further states 'No, I'm not the dude who sends you crank calls. It's probably the black dude who used to teach you Kung Fu. I guess he's pissed because you wouldn't share chrissy with him'. Berkowitz also refers to two books by Frederick Forsyth that he'd like to read, including The Day of the Jackel (sic), and also makes a reference to Mark Chapman, the assassin of John Lennon, 'Pete, I hate to tell you this, but I think Miss Sardine got beat for her photo. You should've sought my advice before you wrote to M. Chapman. You learned a lesson. Don't be sending photos to strangers. I don't know what will happen to that photo - he probably rubs against it at night. But there's no way you can get it back. I can ask "Big J" - he is big - 300lbs! The problem is that "J" is in general population and Chapman is in isolation/protective custody. There's no way for J to see Chapman. Also, my friend "J" is scheduled for a transfer soon. He should be leaving Attica any day now. I'll see what I can do. Next time, just take a photo of a "bag lady" on some street corner. Then mail it with a letter: "Hi Mark, my name is Darlene. I'm a 75 year old hobo bag lady who lives in Queens. I love you, Marky pooh".' Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Berkowitz and signed by him in full in the return address. Together with Richard Ramirez (1960-2013) American Serial Killer, known as the Night Stalker. A.L.S., Richard, one page, 4to, n.p. (San Quentin State Prison, California), 2nd July n.y. (1995), to Ken K. Ramirez writes a social letter, assuring his correspondent that he won't reveal his problems and asking how old his sister is, 'Why would she freak out w/ me?', further sending a drawing (no longer present) and explaining 'If it's gone it's cause someone took it out. I thought it was one drawing I owed you not 2.' Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Ramirez and signed by him in full in the return address. VG, 2 Mark David Chapman (1955- ) American Murderer of John Lennon on 8th December 1980. Chapman is imprisoned in the Attica Correctional Facility, New York.
1958 Royal Enfield Constellation, 693 cc. Registration number 738 UXF (non transferrable). Frame number 7057. Engine number SM SA 6839.Like BSA and Triumph before it, Royal Enfield went on to enlarge its 500cc twin, eclipsing its rivals with the 700cc Meteor, Britain?s largest vertical twin at the time of its introduction for 1953. The crankcase remained fundamentally unchanged but the bore/stroke dimensions and engine top-end were those of the 350 Bullet, doubled up and restyled. Extensive revisions to the engine and the adoption of a new frame (shared by the Bullet singles) ushered in the Super Meteor in the autumn of 1955. While the Super Meteor was a fine performer, Enfield?s next development - the Constellation - was outstanding. Based on its immediate predecessor, the new sportster featured a 51bhp engine, revised frame and a handsome 4.25-gallon fuel tank. On test with Motor Cycling magazine in Belgium, a Constellation recorded a top speed of 115mph while averaging 51mpg, impressive figures by any standard.738 UXF was dispatched from the Redditch factory on the 3rd of July 1958 to Jaynes of Brynmawr, South Wales. It was the 95th Constellation built out of a believed 1389 and is a matching numbers example. Its life in Wales is unknown but in 2005 it was MOT'd in Swindon with a mileage of 10,842. In 2012 it was in County Waterford, Ireland where Joe Costello had the engine rebuilt including a crank regrind, new conrod and big end shells. Gordon Beard bought it in November 2011 and had a refurbished speedo fitted in 2014. Our vendor purchased it in July 2017 and has enjoyed using it, keeping it in it believed original condition. New tyres and tubes were fitted in 2018. He is now emigrating and cannot take it with him.Sold with the V5C, 2005 MOT, various paperwork, books, two cylinder heads and various other spares.

Property of a deceased's estate 1983 Laverda RGS 1000Registration no. A40 SEUFrame no. 1405Engine no. 1405One of the final developments of the big three-cylinder Laverda, the RGS 1000 was the undisputed star of the 1981 Milan Show. A revised, less peaky version of the latest Jota's 120-degree crank, rubber-mounted engine distinguished the RGS from Laverda's other 1,000cc triples, though the most obvious difference was the cockpit fairing that blended smoothly into the fuel tank. Less noticeable was the lowered frame and altered steering geometry that made the RGS more stable and easier to handle than its predecessors. It was much quieter too, yet the more restrictive silencers had seemingly little effect on the performance of a machine that could still reach 140mph and crack the standing quarter-mile in a little over 12 seconds. Sold new by Fowlewr's of Bristol and acquired by the late owner in June 2006, this RGS has been used sparingly and kept in a dry heated garage. Last taxed in March 2014, it last ran in January 2021 and is presented in good condition throughout, MoT'd to 3rd August 2021. The machine is offered with its original warranty card and owner's manual; a workshop manual; a photocopy parts list; a V5C document; a copy of Laverda Twins and Triples by Mick Walker; and a substantial folder of bills, expired MoTs, SORNs, etc.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
1989 Peugeot 405 GRMake: PeugeotModel: 405Year: 1989Mileage: 0VIN: SDB15BB2208238324Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: F160TWPTransmission: ManualRegistered in February 1989, this is the 1580cc GR version of the Peugeot 405, with 86,981 miles recorded on its odometer (a total supported by its MoT history). It starts and runs well, and the condition of the bodywork and interior suggests a car that has been well-looked after during its 22 years of life. Smart GTI wheels are fitted all around, and there's also an aftermarket stereo. The history file includes recent invoices for a new carburettor and servicing parts, while the older bills date back to 2002 and, as well as general and specific mechanical work, there's also evidence of regular servicing. The MoT certificates date back to 2001. The owner's manual and radio removal tools are also present. The vendor has helpfully supplied a few pages of information on the car, including that the larger carburettor fitted can take a while to crank up, but the original is in the boot for anybody wanting to refit it. Slightly smaller 21in wiper blades are fitted in place of the usual 22in ones, the aerial needs to be raised and lowered manually with the aftermarket stereo, and the fuel gauge can be slightly pessimistic.
