A deck of tarot cards, Prague, Upper Austria: Jakob Wokaun, 1815, the complete deck of 78 stencil coloured engraved cards, comprising 4 suits of 14 (French suits), each with pip cards 1-10 and 4 double-ended court cards, Imperial tax stamp (dated 1815) and maker's name on king of spades, plus 22 trump cards, comprising 21 double-ended animal trumps (bearing double-ended Roman numerals I-XXI) and Fool card, few pip cards with some finger-soiling, one with small area of adhesion (from another card verso) to upper corner, versos with multi-coloured marbling, each card 105 x 52 mm, 41 cards corner mounted onto 2 display boards, encapsulated in clear plastic (not examined out of display boards), the remainder loosely contained in a clear plastic bag, each display board 59 x 42 cmQTY: (1)NOTE:Provenance: From the collection of David Temperley, previously from the collection of Sylvia Mann. Mann 222.Reisinger (Tarock), I, p.240.In discussing this pack, Syliva Mann states 'The quality of Wokaun's early packs is unsurpassed in Prague. This is a unique example of this particular pack' (Mann: All Cards on the Table, p.313). In this deck the double-ended animal trump cards are not quite identical at each end, but the variations are not those described by Kaplan in volume II of his Encyclopedia of Tarot (p.436), where he is detailing two later versions of the same pack, one also by Wokaun (1825) and the other by Joseph Dimler (1834).

Second item: a rare deck from this unusual Austrian seller. This deck of 42 cards was probably shortened from a 54 card pack for a specific game.
