Worksplate THE HUNSLET ENGINE CO LTD LEEDS 204 HP No 5643 1960 ex British Railways Class 05 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter numbered D2594. Allocated new to 52E Percy Main and withdrawn in March 1967 from 51C West Hartlepool and scrapped the following year at Slag Reduction, Ickles. Oval cast brass measuring 11.5in x 8in. Face lightly cleaned.
Worksplate THE HUNSLET ENGINE CO LTD LEEDS No 3733 1956 ex BR(W) Hawksworth 0-6-0 PT numbered 3403. Allocated to Cardiff East Dock and 88A Radyr from where it was withdrawn in September 1964. Scrapped the following year later at Birds, Risca. Oval cast brass face restored, measures 11.5in x 8in. Yorkshire Engine Company built 20 panniers under license from Hunslet and fitted only one Hunslet plate per locomotive. There are two different patterns for the different batches of 10 and we have one of each pattern in this auction. A rare plate.
Smokebox numberplate 51496 ex LYR Barton Wright 0-6-0ST. Originally built as 0-6-0 tender engine in 1885 by Kitson as works number 2803, rebuilt as a 0-6-0ST in 1898. Allocated to Newton heath and 26B Agecroft from where it was withdrawn in March 1961 and scrapped at Horwich works. In original condition complete with British Railways receipt dated 22nd November 1961.
Smokebox numberplate 68015 ex War Department Riddles J94 0-6-0 ST built by the Hunslet Engine Company in 1944 and numbered WD 75139. Taken into LNER stock in 1946 and numbered 8015 and then BR 68015. Allocated to Blaydon, Darlington and 56B Ardsley from where it was withdrawn in August 1963 and scrapped at Darlington Works. Restored a long time ago with casting details in the rear.

Worksplate THE HUNSLET ENGINE CO LTD LEEDS 12X18 No 1684 1931 ex 0-4-0 T supplied new to Hall & Co and used at Stoats Nest Quarry Redhill, then later moved to Kilmersdon Colliery, near Radstock in Somerset where it worked until the mid 1960's, after which it was preserved at the Bleadon & Uphill station museum. In 1968 it was purchased by the 1968 by the G.W.R. 1338 locomotive Fund, and moved to the Middleton Railway in 2006 and is awaiting restoration. Oval cast brass, face lightly cleaned, measures 11.5in x 8in. Note this is the other side to the one we sold in March 2022.

Shows previous winners: 1935 Shrewsbury; 1936, 1937, 1938 Plaistow; 1947 Inverness and 1948 Accrington. Pressed brass with Coat Of Arm and 6200 Locomotive. On original wooden stand measures 25in x 18in.
