The wear is noticeable as a minor softening to the engraving.

A Victorian Silver Teapot, by Edward, Edward, John and William Barnard, London, 1845, tapering cylindrical and engraved with foliage, rocaille and drapery swag, the hinged cover with flower and foliage final and with ivory insulated handle, 22.5cm wide over handle, gross weight 23oz 1dwt, 718grWith non-transferable standard ivory exemption declaration number 64RJHYWZ. Fully marked underneath. The hinged cover and handle each further part marked with conforming marks. The base and handle each further stamped '518'. The finial apparently unmarked but appears to be original to the pot. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. The ivory insulators are stained and with some cracking but do not show signs of having been altered or replaced. There is no indication of an erasure.
