Star Wars Lucasfilm/Twentieth Century Fox, 1977 (Russian theatrical release, 1990) poster for the Russian theatrical release, produced in 1991, artwork by Alexander Chantsev, 17in x 25in (43.2cm x 63.5cm) Footnotes: Literature: S. Sansweet & P. Vilmur, The Star Wars Poster Book, 2005, p. 43. The original Star Wars (1977) did not receive a wide theatrical release in the Soviet Union until 1990. Artists Alexander Chantsev and Yuri Bokser designed four highly stylised official film posters for the release. None of the three aliens shown in this design feature in the film itself, although the bald head and pointed ears of the left-hand figure is reminiscent of Ralph McQuarrie's early concept sketches of Chewbacca.
