1981 Chopper, 750cc. Registration number YGF717W. Frame number JHMSC 01211274. Engine number JB 27506. The chopper is a custom motorcycle which emerged in California in the late 1950's. It employs radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. They can be built from an original motorcycle which is modified (chopped) or built from scratch. The most famous examples "Captain America" and "Billy Bike", seen in the 1969 film Easy Rider. Who and when this machine was built is unknown, it uses a Honda CB900 modified frame (last MOT'd in 2008) with a 1979 Triumph Tiger 750 engine. The engine is believed to have had a £2,500 rebuild and it looks unused since. The timing cases has been well engraved and signed by Dave Plumb 1987. The bike has been well constructed but there are a few minor issues that could be improved on, such as the positioning of the ignition barrel. It was last run about 18 months ago. Sold with the V5C.

A beautiful example, mechanically and cosmetically restored but retaining a remarkably well-preserved original interior.Taking Ford overnight from 'country cousin' to 'country club', the Model A had a cachet lacking in the workhorse Model T and suddenly film stars and presidents were happy to pose next to onePowered by a 3,285cc, L-head, 40bhp four-cylinder engine with coil ignition and an integral water pump mated to a 3-speed manual gearboxDating from 1930, this smart four-door saloon is on offer from a deceased estate and was once part of a notable collection including landmark classic cars from across the globeBeautifully restored coachwork with mechanicals that appear to be nicely restored – the interior, however, appears absolutely original and remarkably well preserved. Starts on-the-button and drives well.Imported into the UK in 1988 with HMRC paperwork showing that the vehicle is not subject to any Customs and Excise restrictionsModel As are great starter classics, cheap to run, reliable, well supported, and always welcomed by the friendly Owner's Club, and this smart example is now available at a sensible guide with a flexible reserveSpecificationMake: FORDModel: MODEL AYear: 1930Chassis Number: 16702310Registration Number: UNREGISTEREDTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveMake: LHDInterior Colour: GreyClick here for more details, condition report and images

A largely original and unmodified example of the popular modern classic hot hatch.  Ford have never been slow when it comes to developing sporting versions of their standard cars but surprisingly, it took nearly six years before a genuine performance version of their little Fiesta was added to the rangeThe XR2 was the result and 84bhp, 0-60 in 9.3 seconds and 105 mph turned the 1.6-litre 'Hot' Fiesta into an instant successThis nicely original 1983 Mk1 spent some time in Northern Ireland before returning to England in 2017It was subsequently purchased by a film and television car hire company to use as an authentic prop in a couple of 1980s period productionsFinished in Strato Silver, it sports the correct black and orange stripe side decals, original light grey with blue and red stripe cloth interior and period correct alloy wheelsIndicating 73,615 miles at the time of cataloguing, it was last serviced in December 2021 at 73,203 miles and the MOT is valid until December 2023 and was issued with no advisoriesSpecificationMake: FORDModel: FIESTA XR2Year: 1983Chassis Number: VS6BXXWPFBDL86378Registration Number: A936 DNRTransmission: ManualEngine Number: DL86378 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 73203 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details, condition report and images

Michael Ayrton (British, 1921-1975)Kneeling Maze Figure numbered '3/9' (to underside)bronze with a dark brown patina14cm (5 1/2in) highConceived in 1965Footnotes:LiteratureM. Ayrton, Michael Ayrton, Drawings and Sculpture, Cory, Adams and Mackay Ltd, London, 1966, fig. 177, illustrated (another cast)J.E. Nyenhuis, Myth and the Creative Process: Michael Ayrton and the Myth of Daedalus, the Maze Maker, Wayne State University Press, Detroit, 2003, fig. 120, no. 515, p. 125 and 266, illustratedThe present lot represents an early stage in Ayrton's consideration of the nature of the maze as an aspect of the human condition. The little figure contains and at the same time is contained by the maze - no longer simply Daedalus. 'He has become any man who, during his life, builds in and around himself a maze of circumstances and experiences and this, it seems to me, we all do.' (M. Ayrton, Michael Ayrton, Drawings and Sculpture, Cory, Adams and Mackay Ltd, London, 1966). This duality of the maze as protection and prison, and of man as inhabiting it and inhabited by it was one which Ayrton found endlessly fascinating; he explored it further in his next two sculpture series - Penetrators and Extricators (1969-70), and continued to return to it for the rest of his life, in sculpture, drawings and paintings, film and writing. We are grateful to Justine Hopkins for her assistance in cataloguing this lot. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: ARAR Goods subject to Artists Resale Right Additional Premium. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
