Designed by Henri Viard. The lid is decorated with falcon wings and Egyptian scarab beetles.Designer of hundreds of perfume bottles during the 1920s, Julien Viard received his training from Antonin Mercié and then from his father, the sculptor Clovis Viard. The latter was associated with the Parisian Leblanc-Barbedienne establishments. During the Universal Exhibition of 1900, the press noticed an ornamental gilded bronze and marble fireplace designed by Clovis with the complicity of DenysPuech. At the 1907 Salon, Julien was awarded the prize of the Society of French Artists, category "engraving on medal and fine stone" and a medal in the decorative arts section. Clovis Viard is also known to have designed perfume bottles between 1900 and 1910, including the Rare de Caron.Around 1910, Julien turned away from bronze to work with glass and produced his first bottles, sometimes associated with Henri Hamm (1871-1961), from whom he would draw inspiration. Julien and his father then teamed up with Georges Viollet-le-Duc (1874-1951) to found around 1914 a glass manufacturing company in Montreuil-sous-Bois called "C. & J. Viard" which, slowed down by the war, became particularly active from 1918 onwards.Viard designed models to be blown or moulded, then had them cast en masse by glassworks such as Baccarat or larger producers such as Dépinoix or the Société parisienne de verreries. Viard generally took care of the finishing touches. Julien Viard also worked in collaboration with Lucien Gaillard and Lalique.Until his father's death in 1927, Julien Viard produced a large number of models of bottles, boxes and glass objects, mainly for French but also American perfume houses.

The original plaster for one of the figures, and design drawings for the stove, are in the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv. no. 4029-1853). Alfred Stevens, active as a sculptor, designer, and painter, rejected traditional distinctions between fine art and design. As chief designer for Hoole & Co., he produced award-winning designs for metalwork, maiolica, terracotta ornaments and chimneypieces. Decorations for the dining-room at Dorchester House, London, and the monument to the Duke of Wellington for St Paul's Cathedral, London are amongst his most celebrated works.

DINNER, BED & BREAKFAST FOR TWO IN THE PRINCESS MARGARET SUITE AT AWARD WINNING, HISTORIC COUNTRY HOUSE, PLAS DINAS - Plas Dinas is Grade II listed and dates back to the mid-seventeenth century but with extensive Victorian additions. The original house was built around the substantial stone arched fireplace which can still be seen in the Gun Room today. The house, surrounded by farmland, came into the possession of the Armstrong-Jones family in the nineteenth century through marriage. In 1899 Sir Robert Jones, who subsequently altered his name to Armstrong-Jones, had a son named Ronald. The family was, at that time, living in the London area and retained Plas Dinas as their country home. Ronald Armstrong-Jones married Anne, and the marriage produced a son, Antony, who in 1961 married HRH Princess Margaret, the Queen's sister. Lord Snowdon, who suffered a major attack of polio in his youth built a reputation for photography and has portrayed many famous people in his career, including members of the current House of Windsor. In 1963, he was appointed to the post of Constable of Caernarfon Castle and when the young Prince Charles became Prince of Wales, he was largely responsible for organising the investiture ceremony in the castle. Princess Margaret regularly spent weekends at Plas Dinas during this period in their marriage and was highly regarded by the locals. In fact they still recall their memories of Her Royal Highness today. Plas Dinas still retains many family portraits, memorabilia and original furniture. It presents the opportunity to enjoy the ambience of a genuine Welsh Gentleman's Country Residence, largely unspoilt by its conversion into luxury accommodation, telling the story of the much loved Armstrong-Jones family.
