WW2 Luftwaffe ace Friedrich Korner KC, 250 sorties signed 30th ann El Alamein Historic Battles cover. He joined the Luftwaffe on 15 November 1939. Following flight and fighter pilot training, Körner was posted to I.Gruppe (1st group) of Jagdgeschwader 27 (JG 27-27th Fighter Wing) in North Africa on 4 July 1941. At the time, the Gruppe was based at Ayn al-?az?la and equipped with the Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-7 fighter aircraft. Körner claimed his first victory on 12 October near Sallum when he shot down a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk. In June 1942 he scored 20 kills, five on the 26 June making him an "ace-in-a-day", Körner's most successful day. On 4 July 1942, a year to the day of his arrival, he was shot down whilst scrambling to intercept a Royal Air Force (RAF) bomber formation over the front line near El Alamein in his Bf 109 F-4/Trop (Werknummer 8696-factory number) "Red 11". His victor was Lieutenant Lawrence Waugh of 1 Squadron SAAF. Körner was captured and sent to a prisoner of war camp in Canada, and released in 1947. Good condition. A treatise of the fellowship that the faithful have with God, and his angels, first edition, title within woodcut typographic border, woodcut head- and tail-pieces and decorative initials, lacking blank *8, very small tear to upper inner corner of title (without loss), N4 torn at upper corner with loss of text, final 3 ff. closely trimmed at outer margin, just touching a little text, some water-staining and spotting, lightly browned, later (?19th century) sheep pastiche of a contemporary binding, spine in compartments and with morocco label, spine ends and corners worn, upper joint split (cover still intact), rubbed and scuffed, [STC 228], 8vo, Amsterdam, Giles Thorp, 1607. *** Rare, with only five copies recorded by USTC. We can trace only one appearance at auction (1962, bought by Quaritch). Ainsworth (1571-1622) was an English Separatist, who split from the Church of England. Persecuted in England he fled to Amsterdam, where early on he worked as a porter to a bookseller. He later became a teacher of Francis Johnson's church. On 15th December, 1610, he split from Johnson's church and later invested money in the 1620 Mayflower voyage to the New World. In the end his church did not join the venture, but instead waved off the pilgrims at Leiden. He is considered one of the finest Hebrew scholars of his day, and was an integral part of an Amsterdam circle of English Hebraists who published commentaries and translations of several books of the Old Testament.

A remarkable First Day Cover featuring The Grand Piano from the Americana Series, postmarked July 13, 1978, in Interlochen, MI. This collectible envelope is adorned with two 8.4-cent grand piano stamps and bears the printed description of the instrument. It is hand-signed by legendary composer Henry Mancini (1924–1994) and renowned animator Friz Freleng (1906–1995), both icons in their respective fields. Mancini, best known for composing The Pink Panther theme, won four Academy Awards and twenty Grammy Awards, while Freleng was a key figure behind Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies.
